great, consistent food every time we visit. my second favorite jewish-styledeli(the first being in san diego where i grew up). the matzo ball soup is great, as are the jewish appetizers. the menu is enormous, which can be overwhelming, but it has something for everyone. i also love the chicken stuffed cabbage, with two options for size. definitely a solid option fordelifood. and they offer catering!

brent'sdeliis the art'sdeliof the north valley. great pastrami sandwiches, matzo ball soup (my go-to when i'm sick), turkey, etc. are all fantastic. what could be better than that?  cheaper than art'sdeliand they deliver.

brent's is one of the great delis. katie and i left brent's completely satisfied. everything we ate was very good, and the service we experienced on this visit was very personable. it's easy to see why they sometimes have hour waits for tables here. some might think that the prices are a little on the high side, but you are paying for quality at brent's, and i would gladly pay a little extra to eat a better quality reuben sandwich. plus, the portion sizes are really good sized here. brent'sdelihas really got me looking forward to the next time that we can visit katie's family up in la.

oy gevalt! we’ve heard a lot lately about how jewish delicatessens are a dying breed in new york. but here in la, delis are holding their ground, and perhaps even thriving. yes, iconicdelijunior’s in westwood closed at the beginning of the year, but it was immediately replaced by lenny’s deli, which doesn’t seem that different. while adventurous angelenos love checking out restaurants that serve exotic cuisines they are not familiar with like bolivian, laotian and napalese, many don’t realize that beyond the sandwiches and bowls of matzo ball soup, jewish delis offer delectable eastern european specialties unfamiliar to a lot of foodies, especially non-jews. below are some of my favorites. as for the best places to consume these dishes, there are many divergent views in the la jewish community, which reminds me of the saying “with two jews, you get three opinions.” brent’s (in northridge and westlake village) is my favorite jewishdeliin the city and has the best food overall. i als

bestdeliin la.. it's all good! enormous portions, every meal is enough for two. hard to resist the pastrami on rye. the beef & barley soup is as thick as stew. have you ever had brisket taco's? delicious! the bistro steak sandwich is seriously yummy. they offer several types of fries: sweet potato, string, curly, steak. cobb salad is great if you want to be semi-healthy. love the denver omelet with fresh hash browns. talk about big! they have a gigantic fish platter with white, cod, lox and all its accompaniments that serves 4 easily. i could go on and on about my favorite dishes. service is fast and furious. the waitresses and bus boys really hustle. it's always crowded but well worth the wait. much better than juniors or nate & al's.

better than saul's or junior's. being in nor cal, i have to go to socal to get a gooddelifix. i've been going to junior's forever and like the place but their rueben doesn't compare to brent's. probably the best of it's kind i've ever had and i've sampled far too many of them in my time. nothing fancy just very good food with decent, friendly service. i'll be going back...

real drek and pricey too!. i've eaten there three times over the past two years. in my judgment, this food is so lousy that it seems impossible that it could be either cooked, eaten, owned or operated by my fellow jews. the chicken soup is unspeakably bad. the potato pancakes are overcooked with second tier sour cream. the bread is also lousy. i think the only people who eat there and love it are those who have never eaten realdeliand don't know any better. this is clearly the worst of the long list of infinitely betterdelioptions in the la area.....from canter's, greenblatt's, nate & al's, art's deli, jerry's, factor's and langer's. these guys at brent's are getting away with murder. imagine having an egg cream made with 2 percent milk or water. ok? get it now? they violate the three tenets of a good deli: chicken soup, bread and sour cream. if these aren't good, all hope is lost. eh..what's the big deal...we're not curing cancer. however, if you're desperate for food and everyone else is closed, i'd recommend it. otherwise, hold out for mres.

complete with revolving dessert case and comfy booths, brent's has the rightdelilook. i grew up eating at nate 'n al's, so that's pretty much my reference point for delis. but the chowhounds and everyone else say brent'sdelihas an edge on nate 'n al's

a king among less powerful kings.... an amazing mix of blue-haired waitresses, fresh rye bread, and the scent of brined meats awaits you. as the juicy patty melt sizzles on the flat-top griddle, sit back and dive into the voluminous menu. turn the vinyl pages and you're transported to adelifar, far, away. your only choice can be the pastrami reuben. mountains of tender pastrami followed by the tangy crunch of the sauerkraut. brent's delicatessen is a hidden jewel in the the crown of los angeles that is the san fernando valley.
