on your way to auroville, stop by this pretty littlecafewhich serves some delicious bakes, sandwiches and coffee!
i ordered -
cold coffee - made with coconut milk, it tastes a bit different initially, but you'll start liking the taste after 2-3 sips.
chilled and strong, this is the perfect drink to beat the pondy heat! also they serve it with a steel straw which makes it all the more interesting.

the green thumb focaccia sandwich - freshly baked focaccia and my favorite greens toasted together with a caramelized onion, peppers and pickle salad on the side. absolutely delicious... this is a meal in itself!

giant chocolate chip cookie - this was the show stopper. this giant, gooey, melt in mouth chocolate chip cookie with a sprinkle of sea salt took my heart away! a must try ❤️

definitely coming back!

a very nice quaintcafewith covered outdoor as well as indoor seating. food was delicious and made with fresh homegrown ingredients and simple delicate tastes. not overpowered with excess spices and such. i loved it. no added commercial sugar; i had a cold coffee which was made in coconut milk and enriched with cocoa which had not sugar ( was a bit apprehensive) but i loved it thoroughly. it was actually quite refreshing. definitely recommend it to anyone coming to pondy.

it's closed on monday but their store with limited take away options is open.
please make sure to call everycafebefore to go as every place has different weekly off.
so we went again on wednesday and i must say this is the only place that lives upto the hype.

we ordered
quiche, chill out chocolate, summertime tartine.
their shakes and smoothies are vegan and made with coconut milk so have a distinctive taste but the shake was great and not overly sweet which is quite normal with chocolate shakes.
the quiche flaky and beautiful.
tartine with well done eggs and everything else. i feel their serving plates for dishes like tartine are small and there's no space to move even one item so it becomes bit of a struggle.
don't have plastic(which is good) or paper straw and they give steel ones which i am not too sure about knowing it's the pandemic time.
the service was slow and it took them good 40-50 mins to get our order but we were informed while ordering and we agreed so now complaints at all.
it's got a good open seating and the tables are placed at good distance.

ambience 3.5/5
service 3.5/5
food 4/5
beverages 4/5
vfm 4/5

would i recommend this cafe, yes definitely.

disclaimer: this is a review for b&c pondicherry which has been newly opened but not yet listed on zomato.

this is the py branch of the iconic b&c in auroville. in my last trip i had visited this one and this time found it shut on a monday. hence on a tuesday we headed to the outlet in py.

this experience too is nothing short of what i had imagined. lovely but simple setup, courteous and attentive staff (thanks to reshma - she was quick and very helpful) and to top it off freshest and delicious food!

we had a brunch here and every single item served was very well made and beautifully presented.

our order was a smoothie bowl, banana and fig smoothie, simply eggs toast and veggie toasts and a coffee. totally value for money where the bill was about 1.5k

thanks to the entire staff who work tirelessly to make our time at thecafememorable.

if you look up any blog or article about the best places to visit in puducherry, in almost all of them, bread & chocolate will show up and rightly so!🍞🍫

located in the calm and quiet auroville and wafts of freshly baked items welcoming you to this cozy little spot, it’s acafethat’ll win your heart!

being a person who follows a plant based diet, all the vegan & healthy options on their menu were an absolute delight to choose from & wanting me to come back for more!😋

what we had:

🍞 bananarama toast (4/5)

🍫 hot chocolate (4/5)

🍞vegan spanish frittata (5/5)

🍫 chocolate herbal infusion (4/5)

p.s the menu is so interesting, can’t wait to come back here for more!

a cool, hip place to hangout and have a decent snack or meal with friends. the seating area is comprised of a shared lawn between thecafeand the adjacent boutiques as well as a few tables indoors.
the service is good and there are plenty of baked options to chose from. the summertime tartine and the green smoothie isn't something i would normally try, but they did impress me with taste and texture.
recommended for a chilled break from a busy schedule.

i’ve bookmarked thiscafefor nearly a year.
finally got to come here for a lovely breakfast with my family.
a must try breakfast place for those who enjoy comfort food and healthy options. (vegan options are available as well).
what i ordered :
1) chocolate chip gluten free pancakes (a must try)
2) bear’s breakfast toast
3) pancakes (a must try)
4) affogatto
5) french press coffee (a must try)
6) hot chocolate (a must try)
7) chocolate cake (a must try)

breakfast dishes :
1) bear’s breakfast toast - comprises of 2 slices of sourdough bread with sweet ricotta cheese and honey. the combination of the ricotta cheese and honey was excellent. the sweetness of the honey and the hint of sweet ‘n sour taste in the ricotta cheese worked really well together. the ricotta cheese was really nice and soft.
2) chocolate gluten free pancakes - comprises a single fat pancake with chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, slices of banana and pomegranate. this is one of the best pancakes i’ve ever had. it was not overly bitter or sweet. the fruits and the chocolate sauce with the pancake had the perfect balance of flavours and sweetness.
3) gluten free pancakes - comprises of two pancakes with cashew cream, maple syrup, slices of banana and pomegranate. the pancakes were nice and soft. loved every bite of it.

the drinks :
1) affogato - this comprises of black coffee and a scoop of vegan chocolate ice cream. the coffee flavour was nice and strong. it was perfect with the ice cream. however the vegan chocolate ice cream was a little bitter for me so i had to add extra sugar to it. nevertheless, i enjoyed having it.
2) french pressed coffee - this was something recommended by everyone to try. it’s a variety of black coffee. for those who enjoy super strong coffee and like the taste of black coffee will definitely enjoy this. it was strong and the best part was it did not have much bitterness to it.
3) hot chocolate - this was really good as well. it wasn’t overpowering. it had some chocolate shavings on the top, making it really appealing when it reached our breakfast table.

dessert - the chocolate cake here is amazing. the cake was super soft and moist. it had a nice chocolate frosting on top and a praline filling making this cake an absolute delight. this cake is a never miss.

also do checkout the bakery for their amazing pastries and sandwiches. looking at the wonderful options, bought some bakery food items to binge on.

the ambience was really nice. it has a nice and calm feeling to it. since it was raining today, it was nice to sit outside and eat. hot coffee, comfort food and good weather can never go wrong.

the service here is really good and hassle free. the staff were courteous. they got the food on time with no delays.

a wonderful breakfast place for a change.
comfort food at its best.
would definitely come here again :)

uff! this place was amazing. it is a vegan/vegcafeand the food is worth every penny. i had ordered tropical fruit bowl and green smoothie. both of them were on point. out of all thr fancy/pricy cafes i went to, this was the best. the quantity justified the price and ambience of course. they also had other things to buy like dark chocolates, peanut butter etc. we alsi tried pita chips with salsa and they were also very different yet very healthy/tasty. the place is filled with foreigners and you will get a hippy, don't care vibes from everyone around there. a must visit place guys, recommended- 100/100.

you enter this café and you'll be transported to a quaint little french town serving authentic croissants, tarts, coffee and sour dough breads. the moment we set foot on auroville at 7.30 in the morning, we knew already where we were eating our breakfast from.

thiscafeis one of the first to open up in the morning and people start pouring in right away. we seated ourselves at a corner table, with sore backs and groggy sleepless eyes from the long and tiring overnight car journey. hence, no time was wasted in ordering a pot of camomile tea. along with that we took the el bulli, tropical smoothie bowl, plain and chocolate croissant and coffee.

the tea came first and left us in awe. infused with bulbs of dried camomile, the tea was authentically soothing and just what was needed for our crying joints. the el bulli was more of a dessert item, being loaded with dark chocolate shavings and coconut. but damn was it tasty!
tropical smoothie bowl was pretty fancy and filling by itself. healthy and fresh as the first spring breeze.

finally we dug into the star items of the place. the croissants! i can say for sure, i have never had better croissants before. the crust was perfectly flaky and crisp with the soft, gooey and buttery insides. each bite melted in our mouths and directly seeped down to the soul.

we left with very happy tummies and hearts and came back everyday to eat something or the other from this place, the entire time we stayed at auroville.
