bones, bones, bones!!!! can you believe it that i found not one but some bones in my trout? i didn't expect this from a michelen star restaurant. to make up their mistake they made us to get a free dessert, although we didn't want it. i was expecting more from a michelen star restaurant.

we have been here three times. a stable when visiting napa. lives up to the hype. service and food are always exceptional. cocktails and wine list are always great.

since we could not find reservations at french laundry, we wanted to eat atleast at bouchon bistro when we were in napa. for years i had watched videos of chef thomas keller make the roast chicken. we made reservations to go there and have the roast chicken and more delicacies we had read in the cookbook. some we had tried making ourselves and some we wanted to try since they seemed daunting.

-gnudi had outstanding flavor and the australian black truffles were clear to be fresh and pungent
-loved the croquet madame and the truffle fries served alongside

lines are long but they move fast. french pastries - eclairs, croissants, pain au chocolate are so good. coffee is strong! grab your stash if you want quick breakfast or brunch picnic.

we decided to have brunch here and noted that although there were humongous lines for bouchon bakery next door, there was plenty of room (and no wait) to dine at bouchon itself. the food, and thankfully the wine list, is much more french than its american counterpart ...

we went for brunch but stayed that bit longer to get the lunch menu where i enjoyed a delicious quiche, profiteroles with ice cream, and then you can order items form bouchon bistro and have them delivered to your table. service!

expected more. i gave it a thumbs up because the food isn't bad, it's just over priced for the quality you get it. i've had the same quality food at a much less price.

luxurious and velvety, the mousse was plentiful in the jar and paired lovely with the raspberry jam, and another sip of red wine. i felt like we were in france.

we went to bouchon bakery to grab some macarons. i love their macarons and they are giant. not your typical tiny macaron.



yes, i ate them all and went to enjoy the vineyards.

a solid choice for dinner. this is a casual but small cafe. they start you off with crusty bouchon bread and high quality butter. we tried the rillettes aux deux saumons that were made with fresh and smoked salmon. it was indulgent and delicious. for dinner i tried the salmon special and it just melted like butter in my mouth. it was seasoned just right and was stacked over a tasty crisp potato rosti and a really fresh sweet slice of heirloom tomato. the lemon tart had lots of lemon tang to it and had a tasty thin nut crust that seemed just right.

i had a reservation to dine at ad hoc and the menu of the day didn't work for me when i called to cancel the girl on the phone suggested bouchon and i'm glad i gave bouchon a try.
