great staff !!! great food !!!. bartender joanne great !! nickki theserverwas a great time ... she was trainging a new guy (his first nite) and he went with the flow cause it was packed and food was really good

bread and soups were very good. service was great. decor- eh. for the entrees, i'm always leery of too many menu items and this place is why. maybe their basics like spaghetti or ravioli are good, but i ordered the gorgonzola pasta. blech. could smell the garlic asserverwas bringing it to the table. i ended up with a raw chunk of garlic in my mouth the size of my pinky nail. sundried tomatos weren't mentioned in the menu but they were on it anyway - maybe an attempt to fancy it up. wife's chicken with spinach and cheese had no noticeable salt or flavor. we won't be going back.

i went to boomerang on saturday august 3. i'm from ottawa and love good food. anyhow, i had the french onion soup which is prepared the traditional way with american provalone then i actually ordeeed the special, shrimp and scallops en brioche served over a cajun cream sauce. i am 35 (okay 48) and i am an amateur cook, and i have rarely tasted something so good. the sauce carried a punch and complimented the sea food so beautifully. look the meal was hot and it was perfectly cooked and the presentation was so great, it actually looked like a soft shell crab.

this being said, i will go back to boomerangs as often as i come to buffalo ... thanks to the owner tom for the hospitality and thanks to nikki, ourserver(funny as heck).

also, thanks to joanne, the bar keeper, drinks were affordable and strong.

it appears as if i was a member of the ok experience. my boyfriend and i went on a friday night and when we walked in the restaurant was hardly full yet it took quite some time for ourserverto come over. we ordered as soon as he got there. the buffalo shrimp is pretty good, something different. we didn't receive the salads we ordered before our dinners so i can't comment in them. my boyfriends beef stroganoff was good but he said the meat wasn't tender like he thought it would be. i ordered pasta in a red sauce with chicken which was edible. all in all this place is ok but i'm not planning on adding it to my lust of favorite places.

an off night? i hope so.. after waiting to be seated, ourserverwas triple seated with three 2 tops, and all this is in addition to the other tables he already had. being in the business i immediately knew it wasn't going to be a good situation - and it wasn't. ourserverapologized a total of 3 times (taking so long to take our drink order, get our food order, and for the food taking so long) all before we even got our food. i appreciated him telling us the truth about the kitchen being backed up, but if it was you'd think he would have enough down time to keep his tables drinks full. there was no 2-bite check back, in fact he didn't come back to check on us until we were just about done. my wife's fish was great, my chicken finger sandwich was one of the worst i've had (hard to screw them up too). there was anotherserverwho only had 1 table, but there was never much of a team effort. i believe ourserverwas set up to fail - entirely a poorly managed situation. that restaurant is a great thing for the neighborhood, i wish them well. after that experience i left with a bad taste in my mouth. too many other restaurants on my list to visit before going back again, the service made that an easy decision.
