fantasy vs. reality. the fantasy of bolsa is very appealing. the concept, the location, the menu . . . the slowfoodmovement.

the reality was very disappointing . . . for all 4 in our party.

the lemon sole was almost too salty to eat. how can lemon sole be salty?

the veal schnitzel was forgettable. bland and small in portion size. apparently, the flavor was optional.

the potato & leek soup was barely warm. it did not taste like potato or leek. i'm really not sure what it tasted like.

the scallops were the surprise of the evening. very flavorful and correctly prepared. the lentils were ok.

we enjoyed the vibe, location and design of the restaurant.

the cost of 2 entrees & 2 soups, tax & tip came to $75+ for the meal. no alcohol and no desert. very disappointing.

the value for the product received is just not there. we will not be back.

great service and great food. this has turned into one of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. the service is impeccable and thefoodofferings are outstanding. what a great little gem in the heart of the bishop arts district.

we arrived earlier than our reservation but were seated promptly. our server was quite helpful explaining menu choices and very attentive. the “pitcher” of mimosas is really a carafe of fresh squeezed orange juice and a well-chilled champagne. i highly recommend this libation—great price, as well. ourfoodwas phenomenal!

great place for a sunday brunch. expect a long wait and if the weather is good sit on the patio.foodquality is good - but sadly they no longer have the bottomless mimosas. perhaps people were not leaving the restaurant until dinner time. ;)

this is our second restaurant to try in the bishop arts district. so far we are two for twofoodwas excellent reasonably priced service was a little slow but overall i would go again.

we came here years ago for lunch and really liked it. i was much less impressed about dinner. thefoodwas ok but really needed some salt (which was not available on the table). the positives though were our outstanding waiter and the amazing dessert. overall it just felt like thefoodand drink menus were trying to hard. with so many outstanding restaurants in the bishop arts district, i jut didn't feel like this stood out.

i have only been once but i was not disappointed and plan on making it a regular stop. what i love about this place is thefoodquality and flavor mixed with the way i felt when i left. i had lunch and dessert and still left without the full sick feeling. they totally have the portion size down to an art. i had the wagyu shortribs and i am craving them again already. if you are getting dessert you will do yourself an injustice by not ordering the white chocolate rum tile. it was one of the best desserts i have had in quite some time. and one thing i failed to mention is the plating of each made me feel like i was eating at a five star restaurant. definitely going back soon.

love this place for thefoodand the patio. beware: when i was there, our waitress and a customer were bit by a dog on their "dog friendly" patio. the waitress' bite broke skin and bled so bad someone else had to cover our table while she tended to her wounded arm. it wasn't until i said something to the manager about this being not okay at all that the drunk customer, his friends, and his bitting dog were asked to leave. i'm all for dog friendly patios, but only for friendly dogs.

wonderful atmosphere, casual with an uptownfoodethic. feo will definitely add to your dining experience with his knowledge of the wine list and menu. trust him! from cheese tray to dessert and coffee, everything was a fresh, local delight.

let's do brunch. i'm a fan of anyplace that has a great brunch and that's bolsa to the "t:" they don't take reservations and that's fine most places don't for brunch so our group arrived early and didn't have to wait at all for a table on the patio. the service was average and thefoodwell above average. there is nothing better on a sunday that bottomless mimosas except forfoodthat compliments your drink which bolsa's menu does. the bruschetta was enjoyed by my friends along with the french toast, i had a wonderful quiche. i would recommend and will visit again. i would advise arriving early if possible. there were a lot of people waiting around 1pm and a few left because of the wait, but i think it's worth the wait.

another great meal at bolas - thefoodis perfect! i had two vegans with me and the chef made a beautiful dish especially for them
