yummy. came to visit memphis with some friends and it is our first visit. had a couple of meals at so so places so we asked the front desk at our hotel what they recommended (where they go) and hands down was theblueplate and have the blueberry pancakes. tons of food, tasted great and the service was great. no complaints and we are going back again tomorrow!

breakfast is best. in the last couple of months my spouse and i have taken to going here for breakfast. service is always good, as is the food. in many places these days it is hard to get a poached egg. not at theblueplate. they poach eggs just perfectly. i like their plain grits, but my spouse is especially fond of the cheese grits. cups of coffee are bottomless and the orange juice is always nice and cold.

classic cafe - good food.blueplate cafe reminds me of the little local restaurants in the south during the 50s and 60s. it's the kind of food you could get at home, but you weren't able to go home for lunch. they serve on severalblueand white colours of fiesta dishes which adds to the nostalgia touch.

there is always a line here, both for breakfast and lunch. often i run into someone i know. i've never been for breakfast and typically get a vegetable plate for lunch. every day there is a lunch special. one year i would check my daughter out of school every wednesday and we would go there for the chicken and dumplings. she loved that.

the biggest problem is the parking. it's sometimes difficult to find a spot. and i'm glad they chose this location. am hoping that it will inspire renewal of the rest of the area.

theblueplate cafe has been a popular stop on poplar avenue in memphis for decades. the tiny lot is almost always packed, there's usually a bit of a line, and it's all worth it. within its bright yellow and white rooms, diners enjoy good home cooking at reasonable. prices onbluegingham topped tables, packed in tight. it's not uncommon for parties to be sat together at a big table when there are far more diners than tables.

offering up a heavy dose of southern hospitality, blueplate serves up comfort food with a smile, and above average, well-seasoned, juicy fried chicken. the comings and goings that i observed indicated that other diners were equally pleased with their meals, too.

i think theblueplate is about as perfect a meat-and-three as you can get in the world today that hasn't been around for 50 years. it's always a "clean, well-lighted place" to borrow from papa hemingway. customer service is great, tea is sweet as candy, and the food is exceptional.

daily rotating entrees and vegetables. hash brown casserole is amazing!!

i bookmarked theblueplate cafe because of the good reviews on zomato, and i wanted a good place to eat breakfast while in memphis. i was there for my family reunion, and really didn't have time to eat breakfast because of planned events for the reunion. i had the opportunity to eat breakfast on my last morning in memphis, july, 26,2015. there was so much to choose from, it was hard to decide. i finally decided on the two eggs any style with your choice of sausage, ham or bacon, this is served with biscuits and sawmill gravy and your choice of grits, home style hash browns, or three buttermilk pancakes. i'm thinking i have to try the biscuits, and i did with honey instead of the sawmill gravy. i had the eggs over medium, bacon and three buttermilk pancakes. the biscuits weren't too heavy and with the honey it was on point! the eggs were cooked exactly as i wanted them, the bacon was crispy and those fluffy pancakes with warm syrup, yum!!! theblueplate cafe will be a stop on my next visit to memphis, make sure that you stop by too!@

ah-mazing!. everything was so good. we had eggs benedict and a western omelet. they came with a mountain of crazy good biscuits and a bowl of perfect gravy on the side. hash browns with the eggs and i had pancakes as my side. there were 3 giant fluffy pancakes.....as a side!!
sweet people and cute atmosphere withbluecheckered tablecloths, white bead board and a newspaper for a menu.
great experience! !! eat here.

...reminds you of eating at home.blueplate cafe on this front succeeds in every way. the taste of the food, however, is hit and miss. some items taste great while others may have just come out of a can and may give you a memory of a childhood school cafeteria instead of mother's dinner table. overall the food was fine but there is room for improvement.

good for huntsville.... huntsville is not really known for good quality and reasonably priced food. it seems that most people have enough money that they take what they are given without complaint or meaningful compliment. so, if you are a visitor you have to take the "locals" recommendations with a grain of salt.

i had heard raves forblueplate for years and finally tried it. if is okay, but the prices are quite high for what you get. three vegies and a meat at lunch is around $8.00, i believe the drink is extra. i only go here when friends from out of town demand it as it is basically just another "huntsville" styled restaurant.

in my most recent visit i had turnip greens and they had to be the worst i have ever had anywhere. i don't believe they were canned, but they were stringy, watery and were almost like they simply splashed hot water over them before serving. in the south if you can't cook greens, you might as well hang it up.

the fry cook is better as fried food has been well prepared the majority of my visits.

unfortunately there are not any good southern restaurants in huntsville, for those you have to go somewhere like fayetteville tn. lots of them up there. better prices, better service and "much much" better food. generally the restaurant critiques around huntsville come from those who rave over "food trucks", so buyer beware!

i had breakfast atblueplate today. one word. awful. over cooked, cold eggs. canned spinach, canned turkey. there is not a variety to choose from. i was very disappointed. at least the server was nice. but the food is what brings people back.

natiest breskfast ever. we just returned from theblueplate cafe. the omelet was pre made, cold and without any flavor, even though it was suppose to be sausage and cheese. the scrambled eggs were pre made, the bacon was cold. the sausage gravy was runny and flour tasting. the biscuits were adequate. the honey was good because it was from a local company. the toast was barley toasted. we let the staff know and they did not seem to care. we paid our tab and will never be back.

it has been a tradition of mine to goblueplate every time i visit memphis. considering i go every time i have been, i have been ordinarily pleased. this time however was different. the entire vibe was different. ordinarily the place is packed to where a wait time for a table is not unusual. this time the place was quite empty. most of the familiar staff has changed with only the face at the front being the same. and, as for the food, in a word - disappointing. most of the guests at the table wereblueplate veterans as i tend to invite others out on my trek. to a person, their food quality paled to previous visits. not sure what has happened but hopefully they elk correct this
