blue heaven

i went to blue heaven thinking to treat myself to a nice breakfast after three months in lovely kw. the courtyard was charming but the food (cheese omelette) was average, the coffee undrinkable but guess what!! i was scammed by the wait staff. i fell for the oldest trick in the book. i paid with a $50 (brand new out of the atm) for a $12.40 meal intending to leave a $3 tip. i almost, but didn’t, say to the waiter as he walked away ‘that’s a $50 you’ve got there in your little black folder’ .. but i didn’t because bh is a ‘nice’ place. when i got change back for $20 i thought there’d been an honest mistake. but no.. he went and ‘checked’ and came back to tell me there was no $50 in the till only a $20 (no duh.. in someone’s pocket by then) but the worst was still to come. the manageress came over and insisted atms in kw only gave out $20 bills (hallo wells fargo— funny that ) therefore i couldn’t have given a $20. i couldn’t believe what i was hearing.
so folks. just be super careful - especially in this tourist dive. there’re lots of amazing places in kw. unfortunately for the owner whom i’m told is a really nice guy this isn’t one of them.

everyone raved about this place so we went. great service and fun atmosphere! orange juice was fresh squeezed, bloody mary’s were strong and spicy and coffee was good. i love eggs benedict more then most people so when they said they specialize in them i was excited. i went with the blt - bacon, lobster and tomato add avocado (waiters recommendation). it was good...but not bursting with flavor that i had built up in my mind. everything was cooked perfect i just thought it would be a little more. pancakes looked amazing and they had some fun flavors. fruit was also really fresh. i was slightly shocked at the prices but lobster is market price and they do give you big chunks so i guess it equals out. i think it’s one of those places you need to eat at in key west!

perfect key west breakfast: seafood omelettes, blueberry pancakes, awesome banana bread in a indescribable setting, with wonderful staff and a great bar. need i say more? well, yes - they also serve the best key lime pie on an island famous for it.

beautiful tropical floridian ambience. great food. awesome service. and that key lime pie. good god. on the expensive side but you sure get what you paid for. just wonderful all around

key lime pie was amazing; definitely one of the best i have ever laid my teeth on. i had a quinoa-based main course dish, macrohouse i suppose, which was nice.
service could have been better; we had to wait for like 10 minutes until someone noticed us sitting there.
i might come back again for klp.

key west is known for key lime pie and this place does that right. the key lime pie was probably one of the best key lime pies we have had and a good representation of why key west is popular for it. we didn't get anything else so can't comment on any other food served here.

one thing i would like to mention is that the setting of this place is little confusing. after entering in the backyard like entrance we didn't know where we were supposed to go, where we were supposed to order. we had to order our keylime pie at the bar which took us some time to figure out.

chickens, mimosas and bloody mary's with the best pancakes and tomato bacon lobster omelet in the entire world! i could just die but the 45 minute wait was killer!

tourist trap garbage. 1:15 minute wait for a menu that includes chicken salad and burgers! that is best you can do in key west? it's kind of got some atmosphere but it's definitely not a 4.9 out 5. let's say 2.5 on the chance the breakfast or key lime is noteworthy.

great food, great atmosphere. they have the best key lime pie and bannana bread. all meals here are great. at night they have live music and a painter. there are wild chickens and chicks, it's a great place.

great enviornmet. we went for breakfast - had the shrimp and grits, lobster benedict and keylime pie. everything was fresh and the service was great. will certainly be back to try dinner!

great food. good ritas sea scallops with veggies excellent very good service. good cocktails. i loved this restaurant so much. i love the atmosphere. it was a great experience. worth the wait.

new on our "will return" list. we arrived at the bridge period between lunch and dinner, but the busy staff was friendly. . would be a good spot to hold a party.

the blue heaven is a must visit for the decor. it's like having breakfast in a island resort with sandy floors and naturalist surroundings.....the food is excellent also...can be a bit pricey but it's worth the experience...

this place is amazing, atmosphere.... wonderful..... food ...... wonderful ..... staff...... wonderful !!!! please try this place you won't be sorry !!!

excellent food and wonderful service! we had dinner and drinks. yes it is pricy but so worth it. called before we arrived so no wait! we sat outside and listened to music while having dinner and of course key lime pie and a banana dessert that was heavenly
