worst dining experience i've had. the extremely poor service and neglect and utter rudeness of the wait staff is more than i could write in this review. it was by far the worst dining experience i have received anywhere (and i've been around awhile). i agree with all the previous negative reviews. my experience was so bad i almost called to talk to the manager, but i have a feeling he/she doesn't really care. will never go back!!!

service or lack there of. went to blue dog bakery on saturday about 10:45 looking forward to trying their brunch. after being there about five minutes, was finally acknowledged by someone saying we'd be seated shortly (while there were many tables not occupied). waiters continuously passed by without eye contact or acknowledgement. then couple came in who obviously new a waiter and were seated. sat there a few minutes while dumbfounded, then decided to leave. will probably never go back after experience like that. it's a shame to conduct business like this. the owners need to know how their staff are running away potential business.

i have been going to the blue dog for years.  consistently wonderful!  pastries are fabulous!  food is amazing!!!  just always wonderful, never disappointing!

as far as bread is concerned, it is probably the best in town. pizza is amazing, there is not one dish that is not excellent. however, every single time that we have been here( at least a dozen times), wait times for the table and food are ridiculous. there are multiple tables that need to be cleaned, sometimes for even 10 min and even after they are cleaned, they sit empty for even longer while customers waiting for those seats (sometimes close to an hour) just stand by them. this restaurant is a successful business and its a shame that you put your employees in a situation that they are constantly understaffed and have to continually apologize to customers. please hire additional staff.

have visited several times for early morning coffee or to pick up some french bread to take home. service is hit or miss but their coffee is strong and fresh. parking can be a trick at times.

great food. horrible service every time. the hostess who normally works there is nice but consistently slams the restaurant. they need to hire two bussers so she doesn't have to clean and seat. the volume justifies the expense. it would help the turn of the tables and the servers.

blue dog knocks it out of the park...every single day!. my absolute favorite lunch place in louisville. from the cured bacon to the bread this place is like no other in louisville. love, love it! cool atmosphere too!

for the life of me i can not understand why they even have a restaurant here. the bread is always very good. however as a resident of the neighborhood the service here is abysmal and is the worst in crescent hill and probably the frankfort ave corridor. after five visits in five years the staff just gets worse. my advice, head to the liquor barn and get their bread and spare yourself the hefty dose of snarky hipster server who will just throw shade and jack up your order.

favorite brunch spot. it's amazing how snooty the louisville food scene must have become. seems like everyone wants to hate a place now, and when someone does they want to pile on. blue dog makes the best breads in the city and the food is terrific. this is our favourite spot to stop for brunch on weekends and when i haven't been in a while i miss going in. and, it's not just the food, the service here is terrific. everyone smiles and makes sure you have what you need. exactly how good service should be. the service is quick, the food is quick, but remember you went out for breakfast or brunch, not mcdonald's. if you need someone to ask you if things are ok 100 times during your visit you should put down your phones and learn how to carry a conversation with the person you came with.

not nice for mamas and babies. i had breakfast at blue dog bakery this morning with two friends and brought my 3 month old son along. at three months he doesn't do anything disruptive unless he has a pressing need (food or diaper). he had a wet diaper while we were there. i went to the bathroom to change him. there was no changing station and the "counter" for the sink was very small and cluttered. i stepped out and asked the woman working the counter where i could change him and she gestured to the air and said, "where ever you can". the office space at blue dog is an open space so i laid my son with a changing pad under him on the desk and started to change him. a man in a blue dog t-shirt with a beard told me i couldn't change him there because of "cleanliness". i asked where i could change him. he indicated that i should change him on the floor. "the floor??" i asked. he stated that he has children and he and his wife always having a changing pad and that i could not change him on any surface in the building so... i guess if he wants to change his baby on the floor of a restaurant, that is his business but i was unwilling to do that for obvious reasons-even with a changing pad which i had with me. i went out and changed him on the front seat of the car. i was lucky that it wasn't raining and that i had friends to watch my things so i didn't have to take the car seat, diaper bag and my purse out with me to change his diaper and then bring it all back it.
this is not the first time staff at blue dog as been rude. this experience tells me they don't really want mothers with babies for customers. i am pretty angry about this and i hope that other mothers can use this knowledge before they are put in the situation i was in and choose another eatery with a baby-friendly setup.

service is still crap. all the previous reviews about the lousy service are true. went in this morning for a quick breakfast - name was third on the list, with four vacant tables visible. really? wait was advertised as 10-15 minutes?? really????!!!!! they seated the two parties of ahead of us - net gain of one vacant table. waited 15 minutes and left. the food may be good, but it's not worth the indifferent-bordering on arrogant attitude of the wait staff. been here a couple of times before and had similar experience. attributed it to the place being extremely busy. it wasn't this morning, so one is left to conclude that they either can't find decent employees or just don't give a damn. never going back.

no one answers the phone there or calls you back when you leave a message for an order! helloooooo

how could you not love it?. i do not work there, but i could eat here everyday of my life! hands down, the best bread in louisville (many restaurants serve it)! the staff is not rude, they are just very busy. learn patience! best raspberry iced tea, scones(if any are left), poached eggs, wheatberry salad, and anything from a pig or hog. just ask the red headed guy, he'll tell you all about those hogs. i must end with the pizzas! each is a work of art and a treat to your taste buds. you will never view pizza the same! take some bread home and freeze it! on a date night, thaw it, reheat as the bag tells you. provide your own cheese,fruit, and red wine, and light a candle or two! the blue dog bread will make for a perfect evening, the rest is up to you! by the way, i will always go back!

like a previous reviewer, we were ignored for about 5 minutes before someone else walked in and tracked someone down to get on the seating list. the restaurant wasn't even full. the lady behind the counter asked us if we were "just waiting for a table" but didn't offer to put us on the list. we left and won't come back. horrible customer service.

we had a party of four. the place was fairly empty on a weekday around 11ish. we had to ask for a coffee refill. we had to ask for bread, the food did not come out at the same time & was extremely late. then the waitress was so rude & flippant. when confronted about the food taking about 45 minutes from our order to come out (sandwiches & pizza btw) we were told "that's how our restaurant works, food takes a long time" i will never go back! back.
