first visit and it was a great experience. good was tasty, attractive and a very nice selection. really liked the spanish meatballs from the tapas menu. took a bit longer than usual to get refills on our wine but otherwise the service was very good. we did not feel rushed. i look forward to going back nexttimei am in town.

bacon wrapped scallops with lobster mac and cheese. scallops were perfectly cooked and flavorful. lobster mac and cheese was full of nice chunks of lobster, pasta was nicely firm and just the right amount of tangy cheese.

this is the secondtimei have eaten here and both times, they have been out of standard menu items. the server was apologetic about being out of items, but i find this inexcusable at 8:30pm. i had the scallop special and it was very good.

i am similar to a few other reviews. rarely do i ever feel the need to comment on any restaurant let alone take thetimeto write a review. this place is unbelievable. the food was so intelligently prepared, its almost a shame to not somehow reflect its gourmet-like taste on the menu. do yourself a favor and go to this place. every single item we had was 100% over our expectations. this chef knows what he/she is doing. best food i've had in fl hands down. **and i have absolutely no affiliation with them!!

hubby and i had an almost identical experience as the disappointed reviewer: inept waiter and passive, ineffective mgr/supervisor. in addition to service mistakes (served ice cold cup of coffee) and long delays, we were given someone else's check and had to restate our actual order in order to get our bill settled. now the food was in fact very good, and we liked the concept but the management issue is too seriously bad for us to return anytimesoon.

finally. my lady and i waited a longtimefor this restaurant to finally open up. the interior was different. a little too dark for my taste because the menus were hard to read since they are also dark.

service was lovely. i had the onion soup which was delicious. my lady had the calamari which was also delicious. the house wine pinot gregio was good but a little high.

overall i would say that they should be successful if they advertise and get the word out. i wish them luck.

awesome restaurant. to give my comments some perspective allow me to say that i've had the privilege of eating at some of the best rated restaurants in the united states and europe - including a 20-point french restaurant from the renowned guide, gault millau. all that said, i believe that blau is a jewel in our community.

i enjoyed ambience. the size of the restaurant is perfect - not too big, not too small. the lighting is modern and elegant. our waitress was upbeat and courteous.

i had two tapas: artichoke fritters and asparagus with serrano ham. both were excellent. afterwards i had the rack of lamb, which was beautifully cooked. the lamb came with a type of potatoes that i had not seen before, with a dark purple color - they were delicious!

but the best part was the dessert. typically i don't order desserts at restaurants and decided to make an exception this time. boy was it a treat. the ice cream, as they owner claims, was made there. the texture and taste were incredible. i actually asked if i could buy a gallon nexttimeto take home (he said yes, with a wink.)

although i wouldn't say that blau is a restaurant to bring small children, i must say that the entire staff handled my 2-year old perfectly. they were patient and always mindful where to place things on the table - so they wouldn't fly across the room ;-)

i highly encourage anyone reading this post to go to blau.

ps. "drinkneats" by reading your review i can tell that you are a pompous douchebag.

disappointment. almost nothing went right on saturday night !!! the wife and i, along with her brother and his wife; dined in this " fine dining/ tapas" eatery. previous reviews and the in laws previous visits were very good. everyone was looking for a good experience. but alas this was not meant to be. from thetimeour drink orders where taken to the end of the meal, this was nothing but a series of inept service and managerial incompetence. deep breath, here we go; the drink order for one pitcher of beer and two glasses of wine, came out one wine short , not corrected until appetizers served, one appetizer was not correct and moretimewasted. two out of four entrees served, which on a positive note were good, waiter confused about what had happened, multiple excuses made. manager spoken to he was very cordial but really did nothing to help the situation. after at least twenty to thirty minutes the other two entrees found their way to our table, one of which was a grilled veal dish that was basically inedible, this piece of meat was nothing but fat and should never have been served. manager still smiling and flirting with staff while all this going on, oblivious to the situation. veal returned and replaced with a free dessert . this establishment looks good, sounds exciting; but if this is going to be the manner in which it is going to run, i am afraid that this establishment will follow the path so so many eateries. the path leading to another empty store front and the sour experience of having a failed restaurant.

had high hopes. we waited for this restaurant to open and hoped that this area would finally have someplace amazing. skip the dinner here and just go for tiramisu for dessert and ask them to leave off the cheap canned whipped cream. absolutely the best tiramisu ive ever had and if they took thetimeto make real whipped cream it would be incredible. everything we ordered just needed to be seasoned - crepes, calamari, even the caprese needed seasoning. pasta was ok but nothing amazing that you couldnt get anywhere (and my husband makes a million times better at home) decor is nice with a balance of upscale, clean & uncluttered and whimsical with the paper and crayons. im not sure i understand the striped nautical/gondola style uniforms & converse for the staff, but they were pleasant and attentive. nice menu selection just needs some polishing!
