blackbird cafe

i have dined at blackbirdcafeseveral times and it never disappoints. thecafeis usually busy but often you can find a table. both indoor and outdoor seating available. the menu is turkish inspired with vegetarian and vegan options. i recommend the smashed avocado - very fresh, tasty and filling. the menu is also reasonably priced compared to other cafes on main street.

today we stopped by thiscafefor lunch, normally it’s packed and you can’t get in, but luck was on our side today, or so we thought. we got a table immediately and a lovely waitress brought us a bottle of water, very welcome on a warm day. menus arrived but it took 20 minutes+ before anyone came to take our orders. another 20 minutes before the food came. my husband had the salmon fish cakes and he enjoyed them very much, lucky him! i probably should’ve ordered them, they did look good. i ordered the veggie borek which sounded good, but sadly it wasn’t. sure it was full of veggies and had a side salad. clearly it was warmed in a microwave as the top pastry was limp, not crunchy which it should’ve been and other than a few bits of carrot and green beans which had a bit of texture, the rest of the veggies were mush, which made the bottom pastry layer complete mush. the salad greens were ok but only one tomato wedge was edible, the others were sad looking and inedible. when i mentioned this at payment, no discount was given and got no apology. i was told i should’ve mentioned it to floor staff. several of the wait staff walked past our table and saw my uneaten meal and did not ask if things were ok. i probably should’ve spoken up but they would’ve taken forever to replace my meal. sorry guys but pastry doesn’t belong in microwaves.

on multi day out to mornington this end of the week, my mum and sister and i, chose to attempt some place extraordinary. we discovered the black birdcafeessentially in light of the fact that we were searching for an approach to break through to the principle road. thank heavens!! it was extraordinary. in any case, the champion for us was the administration. extraordinary. well beyond. these folks conveyed the best administration i've ever had from a bistro. well done folks!

it was the long weekend and my partner and i decided to have breakfast in mornington. we came across this lovelycafewith extremely polite staff. we were well taken care of despite the large number of people. there were so many choices for food. loved my food and cake. really made my day! would definitely return :)

we took our father for afternoon tea at blackbird café on saturday afternoon (18th august) while he was on leave from hospital.the staff couldn't be more accommodating or friendly. nothing was too much trouble & the food was divine.the service was so good we went back on sunday for brunch. the staff informed us that they were quite happy to make alterations to the menu & remembered how we liked our hot beverages. again, we were not disappointed.thank you to all the staff at blackbird café, you made a very special time for me even more memorable.

went to blackbirdcafefor brunch - delicious. very helpful and friendly staff - the young man who served us was cheerful, and when my mum said she wasn't very hungry, he suggested smaller items (cakes, apple crumble). she had the homemade apple, rhubarb and strawberry crumble, which was apparently delicious, my brother had wedges (hard to go wrong there, but there was plenty of sauce), and i had baked eggs. great food, and reasonable pricing. will be going back.

extensive menu with almost too many great choices to choose from! we had the florentine, big breakfat, lamb burger and quinoa salad with lattes to finish. everything was cooked beautifully and was served quickly. thecafeitself is relatively small however there is ample outdoor seating, all staff were very efficient which was good as the place was packed on a public holiday. 
only criticism was that the big breakfast while very big only contained one very small tomato which i consider a vital part of a breakfast. this however was balanced by the perfectly toasted thick slices of sourdough and the well cooked bacon.

having been here for brekkie a few times before, i knew what to expect.
i come here for the french toast breakfast - plenty of bacon (not too crispy) with 2 thick cut slices, banana, and plenty of maple syrup.  my only criticism - not enough banana ( i could tell straight away that it was going to fail the complete mouthful of everything ratio test)!  still, it was very nice.
so you might wonder why the 3.5 - the staff were friendly enough but could have been friendlier, and the position of thecafeisn't great being on a side road with views of a brick wall.  still, if a good french toast is your thing, you won't go far wrong here.

without a doubt the bestcafein mornington! the food never food never disappoints and the menu has something for everyone. service is always great.

we went to thiscafefor the first time on the 16th of february for our fathers 83rd birthday. the food was lovely the staff we attentive and the price was very reasonable. we provided a cake which they very kindly brought out plates and forks for without hassle. they came out with sparklers on the cake and the entirecafestood up and joined in singing happy birthday to dad. it was a lovely touch and i think it was one of the happiest birthday lunches dad has ever had. thank you to all the owners and staff for not only providing quality food and coffee but for making us feel loved and welcome. i will definitely be coming back.

a consistently excellent brunchcafewith mid-high pricing but extremely good and fast service. excellent coffee. highly recommended.

great food and coffee! would deffinately go back even just for a cold drink! the food was delicious and great service! great atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent coffee and the book shelf has a great range of books to read! loving it! mornington is in a win to have thiscafeoperating!

not bad but not great. unfortunately we didn't have the same awesome experience as others seem to have had... nothing too bad, but if this is the bestcafein mornington then mornington is in trouble! we had quiche with salad, and the cooked brekky - both passable but quite bland, and on the expensive side. for approx $17-18cafemeals you expect more flavour. coffee was pretty good though, and staff were fine.
