it was my first time visiting the restaurant. i wanted to try something aussie, so my husband and i decided to have steak for dinner.

i ordered wagyu ramp cam with organic carrot and charcoal pumpkin. the meat was fresh and of high quality, however i expected it to be more tender and have more flavour.

my husband ordered angus rib eye with tomatina. it was the same, good beef but lack of seasonings. dipping it to the sauce did not help much. but his marinated tomato was much better than my carrot and charcoal pumpkin.

we went there on saturday night, the place was busy and service was slow.

delicious!. went there for a celebratory meal based on the reviews we read on urbanspoon. they were booked out both friday and saturday night (a good sign to me) and luckily we got a booking for two on the sunday night. we went with the chef's selection and were thoroughly impressed. highlights for us were the white asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with a cheesy sauce and the suckling lamb & pig. they were very generous with the meat portions and we struggled to finish it all. but we did have space for the apple cake, which wasn't too heavy, and a nice way to finish off a lovely meal. would highly recommend to go here!

we had a course meal and the slow cook lamb tasted very good. especially the skin but it was also a bit dry. the waiters kindly recommended us some very nice wine to go with the meal. the duck breast tasted delicious as well.

the smells from the outside of this restaurant to the moment you walk in are just mouth watering ! a beautiful, intimate interior welcomed by friendly staff. i went with the waiters recommendation of the slow cooked lamb with side of mash, beans and garlic & thyme condiments. great choice! the lamb was cooked so beautifully and the flavors were outstanding. i had to finish with dessert and went with the chocolate soufflé dish. another great dish, light but decadent. would definitely come back and recommend to friends to visit :d

lucky to get a table on a saturday night so worth ringing ahead.

we went there for the degustation and were not disappointed. the tapas came out in rapid fire, and all the way along our waiter was super attentive and helpful with the wine selection, with some great humour without being cheesy or annoying.

the lamb and pork - we just weren’t prepared for how succulent and how much! we were both hungry when we got there but couldn’t finish all the meat! no room for dessert this time.

highly recommend for quality food, friendly and professional service and quality wine. all well under $200 for two of us.

we visited this place for dinner. the food was average/ok definitely over priced for what it was. the staff were inexperienced and some of them with zero costumer service skills.

i ordered coke in a bottle or can and specifically mentioned it a couple of times. i received  flat coke in a glass, when i returned it the waiter started arguing that i just poured this from a can. he eventually changed it to what i ordered however he didn't take it very well. (he basically banged the replacement drinks on the table)

the desert was probably the highlight of our night. ordered 3 deserts, 3 teas and one coffee. all items came at different times 5 to 10 mins apart. one of the waiters was trying to put the boiling hot tea pot in front of my 4 years old kid.

in general unhappy with out visit and won't go back. it was a rip off!

was really looking forward to what sounded like a good cut of meat. we had the striploin and ordered a side of mushrooms. meat came out cold, and said side would be out shortly. they totally forgot the side dish. had zero seasoning and just tasted totally bland and not tender. didn't offer any salt or pepper and none on table. i had to ask twice for the side before it finally came out... and by then i reluctantly finished the steak... so i was eating a small bowl of button mushrooms by themselves, yay. overpriced. service although friendly was a let down and overall just walked away feeling totally ripped off. won't ever be back

the service was bad with a bunch of untrained students, we basically had the house bread throw at the table and chased after the waiters multiple times to get the culinary and napkins. the quality of food was average for braddon, and below average for the price. the chicken was very dry yet undercooked, and mixed mushrooms was a disappointment. the only thing we like for the night was the fig ice cream.

this mediterranean and grill restaurant is located on mort street. the smells coming from the restaurant was amazing.

it seemed quite busy and the service was lovely.

we started off with some tapas. the croquetas were nice and crunchy. the filling had jamon iberico, samorejo, and manchego bechamel sauce. it was creamy and delicious. the goats cheese churros were light and tasty. it came with a vibrant mojo verde sauce. the piquillo pepper was filled with crab and prawn. served with romesco and a nice bite.

for entree i had the berkshire pork a belly. portion size it seemed like more like a main and was generous. it has a great crackling on top and the meat was tender. the sauces of rhubarb and apple martini added another complexity to the dish.

the maltagliati pasta was pappardelle like and served with a fantastic braised lamb ragu and topped with pecorino sheep cheese and gremolata. the angus rib eye was a perfectly cooked 400g steak served on the bone. it came with choice of side which it was roasted potatoes which were abundant in flavour. added horseradish creme fraiche as the sauce.

great dinner had here and would highly recommend.

we visited on a saturday night. there were two sittings: 6-8pm and 8-10pm. we took the earlier and had a set menu / degustation for 2 ppl at $55pp. it included 4 appetisers/entrees and two mains.

the red pepper stuffed with crab and prawn paste was lovely.

i thought the rest was average to be honest. the two mains - slow cooked suckling pig with apple sauce, and the slow cooked lamb with garlic sauce/aioli was way too meaty and heavy. it was served with tomatoes in olive and capers, and baby roast potato. the capers and tomatoes helped to lift it all. unfortunately the sauces didn’t do much to enhance flavours of the meats and they really needed the lift because they were both so heavily - flavour wise and density wise.

given how heavy the end of that meal was, we couldn’t even try desserts. we felt quite uncomfortable from the meats.

it was a hot evening and the spanish beer we ordered- estrella - was a nice, light accompaniment for the food and the weather.

the waiter was quite friendly. he kept asking what we thought of the food all night. we were good until the meats, and we tried to tell him that it he wasn’t interested. and all the chatter that we experienced throughout the dinner turned into a frown and silent treatment when we paid without giving a tip. something i did not expect.

food 5 ⭐️. ambience 5 ⭐️ service 5⭐️

was in canberra for work, my partner came down to see me for two nights..... when he was on the bus i said get zomato and then look at places we can go for dinner. it was so funny we had chosen the same two restaurant marble and grain and then black fire. we walked into marble and grain then they said they where fully booked even though they where half empty so then we said let’s go to black fire.

we called black fire to make a reservation. they said if you come buy 9:30 yes we can do.

we open the door to the restaurant t and was greeted by the waiter. we said we called and they said one moment please. they took us to our table.

my partner and i where looking at the menu and i was telling him how much i felt like steak ect. then the waiter come over and said. i’m
just letting you know we also have a tasting option where you get 4 entree and two mains for 55 per person. we looked at each other and said ok let’s do it.

so the first entree came out it was smoked chorizo bruschetta. was so tasty!

the second entree, was stuffed pepper with crab 🦀 and prawn 🍤 mouse l. it was so nice well balanced in flavour.

the 3rd entree was tuna mousse on a thin cracker.
it was creamy it melted in the mouth,

then the 4th entree was stuffed eggplant with lamb and tomato home-made purée on top.
it taste sweet but well balanced.

then they brought out prosciutto with bread! it was so fresh it taste a slight salty but one of the best prosciutto i have tasted! (my partner and i was like what’s this we already had 4 mains i said i have no clue.

then the mains came out... it was 1 piece of lamb and one piece or pork. boy where we blown away with the lamb. 10/10 so moist and tasty.

the pork was nice but a little blend after the lamb. but still nice.

the experience was really good and i highly recommend this restaurant. even though we came just before closing time. they didn’t rush us or make us feel uncomfortable it was an amazing experience!!!
