billy's

staying in a different part of town this week. really glad i did. as it gave me a chance to try this place.

to start....get the caesar salad!  man oh man. i hate to act like i have never had one before but honestly the dressing on this small salad is absolutely awesome!  i have never had one that i could actually discern the presence of an acid in the dressing. most likely lemon but i cant swear to it. just delicious.

i had the shrimp piccata for my entrée. (pictured) again the sauce on this dish is very, very good. spinach, capers and grape tomatoes! the shrimp was prepared so well. not at all rubbery and deveined well. 
i saw several other entrée items that will drive me back for another visit soon.

service wasgreatand very prompt/ courteous.

if you're looking forgreatatmosphere, excellent service and superb food then billy's is the place for you. the lamb chop lollipops are to die for!!

i have eaten at billy's a handful of times now and after tonight was compelled to write a review. i was thrown by the entrance being moved from the corner to the side but after walking in and being greeted so warmly i quickly got over the change in door location. the atmosphere is relaxed but not to the point where i feel like i could take my shoes off. the servers i have experienced have been very informative, knowledgable, and attentive. on a couple occasions the managers have personally come to check on me which really made me feel as though they wanted me there and genuinly cared about my experience at billys. now for the food... billy's by far has the best burger in town (in my opinion). i have even ordered a burger to go and it was ready and still hot by the time i arrived to pick it up. one of my favorite things about billy's is the fact that this restaurant also has night life... 3 bars to be exact. the courtyard is absolutely beautiful, especially at night. it has its own bar and it is unique because it is not on the street like most of downtown roanokes outdoor seating. overall i am just so highly impressed by the excellent service, delicious food, and comfortable atmosphere that i felt the need to share.

the friendliness of the host staff leaves much to be desired. the waitstaff is nice though and their wine list is vast (though i wished they offered more by the glass). we sat out in the courtyard which was fabulous. my lettuce wraps were okay, notgreatnot terrible. my friend had jerk chicken and really enjoyed it.

i went to billy's with a group of friends last night. i had been to the bar and the patio a few times before, but had never had dinner. it was not only delicious, but the service wasgreatwithout being overbearing.
i started with the chopped salad with homemade honey pecan dressing. yum! our table got the grilled wings as an appetizer. they were crispy and hadgreatflavor. i had the black bean burger as my entree. most places have generic pre-made processed veggie burgers. this was fresh and you could identify all of the ingredients. our server was attentive but didn't over do it, and obviously knew the menu. we will definitely be back for dinner again soon!

definitely not worth spending money. my wife and i just got back from billy's. the service was quite good - actually, the only good thing about the meal was the service, the 2 glasses of wine, and my corona...and was tipped accordingly (nearly 50% - he was that courteous, timed everything perfectly, and wasn't in our way).

first, the rolls given before the meal: frozen/refrigerated tasted like it. you know that taste of food that's been in the refrigerator? yep, that's it. second: the appetizers were ok...tomato basil soup. but the crab cake was served on limas and corn that were canned...not fresh. third: the lobster alfredo was bland. fourth the prime sandwich was downright bad. the bun was lightly toasted; however, it was not fresh-baked bread. you can buy it at the local fresh market, which hasgreatbread. these buns straight off-the-shelf quality from kroger's. the au jus was way, way, way too salty. finally, the prime that puts the prime in the sandwich - not sliced fresh!!! and heated up by a microwave. you know the look that meat has when heated in a micro. if you are going to serve prime - eat needs to be freshly made and ready-to-serve. heck, golden corral makes a better prime than this place. this was absolutely the worst meal we have ever eaten while dining out - including a quick sandwich at wendy's. never, never go there. anyone who likes this place either had the "right" selection off the menu...or, they never have been to a decent restaurant with comparable food. did we complain, no...i don't make a scene at a restaurant...not out for a free meal or reduced ticket. but, i am using this forum to complain. i just accept eating there was a terrible decision and hope to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake. i should have read the reviews first...excuse me while i belch for the ---teenth time.

my family and i ate at billy's the other night and had agreatmeal, and fantastic service! billy's is a very nice menu selection, there is something there for everyone!

took my family to billy's a few weeks ago, the waiter was very attentive to our needs,greatdrinks, good choice of wines, and the seafood we tried was excellent. deserts are to die for!

smokehouse burger = win.greatlayout and setting. looking forward to my next billy's experience.

best in town!. last saturday my girlfriend and i visited the newly opened billys. it was purely a spur of the moment decision and the first thing that impressed me was how fast we were able to slide in even on an incredibly busy weekend dinner. the atmosphere wasgreatbecause of the lively bar crowd and at the same time a quieter well lit casual dining room. the service we recieved was some of the best we had ever had and our server was very knowledgeable and really made us feel like we were the only ones in the whole place! my girlfriend and i both agree that the burgers are to die for and we were very excited to see a new place with a large selection of fresh seafood! while finishing up our meal we were apparently even special enough to be greeted by the manager and given free champagne just for coming out to dinner! our experience with the new billys wasgreatand i can certainly say its one of our new favorites in town and we will be returning very often!!
