billy's

i like billy's. attentive service, goodfoodand drinks. we go there often. unfortunately the last 2 times we have been there for dinner the bar (which is a part of dining room) was so loud that table conversation was difficult at best. it's a good place but they need to do something about the bar noise.

very high end. we were downtown and happened upon this place. we went inside wearing jeans and a sweatshirt as it was chilly outside. atmosphere is very high class. our server knew that we were not ordering the expensive bottle of wine and kinda payed us no attention, wasn't able to recommend a good dish. appeared that everyone else there was dressed up very well and getting off from work.foodquality is so so, nothing about the meal impressed me. we were going to go for dessert and were simply presented with the check and never offered dessert as an option. more than likely my first and last time there.

best dining experience i've ever had. last saturday my family and i dined at billy's and our experience was nothing short of amazing. from the moment we walked in the door we felt so incredibly welcomed. our service was absolutely phenomenal. our servers were extremely quick and efficient with our orders and could have not been nicer. thefoodwas outstanding as well, especially the lamb chop lollipops. the restaurants manager colin also checked on our table to make sure our experience was up to par which we truly appreciated. billy's is undoubtedly the best dining establishment my family and i have ever experienced and look forward to our next visit.

if you're looking for great atmosphere, excellent service and superbfoodthen billy's is the place for you. the lamb chop lollipops are to die for!!

i have eaten at billy's a handful of times now and after tonight was compelled to write a review. i was thrown by the entrance being moved from the corner to the side but after walking in and being greeted so warmly i quickly got over the change in door location. the atmosphere is relaxed but not to the point where i feel like i could take my shoes off. the servers i have experienced have been very informative, knowledgable, and attentive. on a couple occasions the managers have personally come to check on me which really made me feel as though they wanted me there and genuinly cared about my experience at billys. now for the food... billy's by far has the best burger in town (in my opinion). i have even ordered a burger to go and it was ready and still hot by the time i arrived to pick it up. one of my favorite things about billy's is the fact that this restaurant also has night life... 3 bars to be exact. the courtyard is absolutely beautiful, especially at night. it has its own bar and it is unique because it is not on the street like most of downtown roanokes outdoor seating. overall i am just so highly impressed by the excellent service, delicious food, and comfortable atmosphere that i felt the need to share.

"i recently had a special event held at billy's and it was wonderful. the ambiance, food, and staff were excellent. the staff went above and beyond to be accommodate our needs and requests. our guests were very pleased with their service and friendliness; as well as, thefoodwas full of flavor and savory. i would highly recommend hosting any special events at billy's or for casual dining. you will not be disappointed."

dad2-4daughters. we ate at billy's for lunch today. we found the staff to be very accommodating and thefoodwas incredible. definitely will be returning since it's very difficult to find a restaurant that is liked by all 6 members of our family. they seemed to have something for everybody to eat.

snooty atmosphere. while thefoodwas very good, the service was so-so and it was $$ - $80 for 2 people. we didn't have a reservation but the hostess said it was fine. we met up with a friend from work whose daughter just started working there and the waiter spent most of his time flirting with her. he even said that she was his favorite at the table...not very professional.

this is what killed it for us... the daughter who works there got up, came back and said that we had to leave (just when we were barely done eating) because our table had a reservation even though there were other tables open. we were very insulted and our tip reflected it. this was our first time eating here and it will definately be our last! if you do go there get reservations and dress up - otherwise you will be treated poorly. this was about 7pm on a saturday evening.

we arrived tired and grumpy and our waiter, justin,changed that to relaxed and happy. thefoodwas delicious and appropriately priced. justin was especially helpful with our 2 year old granddaughters hyperactivity and fussiness. we plan on returning soon.

i ate tonight at billy's and loved it! thefoodwas amazing i recommend the bleu burger to everyone and the sweet patatoe fries were to die for. the service was awesome friendly staff. recommend this place to anyone coming by roanoke

definitely not worth spending money. my wife and i just got back from billy's. the service was quite good - actually, the only good thing about the meal was the service, the 2 glasses of wine, and my corona...and was tipped accordingly (nearly 50% - he was that courteous, timed everything perfectly, and wasn't in our way).

first, the rolls given before the meal: frozen/refrigerated tasted like it. you know that taste offoodthat's been in the refrigerator? yep, that's it. second: the appetizers were ok...tomato basil soup. but the crab cake was served on limas and corn that were canned...not fresh. third: the lobster alfredo was bland. fourth the prime sandwich was downright bad. the bun was lightly toasted; however, it was not fresh-baked bread. you can buy it at the local fresh market, which has great bread. these buns straight off-the-shelf quality from kroger's. the au jus was way, way, way too salty. finally, the prime that puts the prime in the sandwich - not sliced fresh!!! and heated up by a microwave. you know the look that meat has when heated in a micro. if you are going to serve prime - eat needs to be freshly made and ready-to-serve. heck, golden corral makes a better prime than this place. this was absolutely the worst meal we have ever eaten while dining out - including a quick sandwich at wendy's. never, never go there. anyone who likes this place either had the "right" selection off the menu...or, they never have been to a decent restaurant with comparable food. did we complain, no...i don't make a scene at a restaurant...not out for a free meal or reduced ticket. but, i am using this forum to complain. i just accept eating there was a terrible decision and hope to prevent anyone else from making the same mistake. i should have read the reviews first...excuse me while i belch for the ---teenth time.

needs work. we recently ate at the newly reopened billy's. while the hostesses and waitresses were pleasant and eager to please, thefoodwas a real disappointment. at present, it seems that billy's doesn't know what kind of restaurant it wants to be. is it a fine dining establishment? or a bar (in fact, 3 bars in one)? the menu reveals this confusing identity with a casual sandwiches section and a much more expensive surf and turf section. i might have expected different menus: lunch, bar, and fine dining. about the food...our oyster appetizer was the best dish we had. my scallops were overcooked and the pasta sauce was plain and lacked flavor. my partner's crab cakes were heavy, and the grilled asparagus (with cheese) was average. we skipped dessert, not wanting to take the risk. we hope that the chef and owners will improve upon the menu. we used to love billy's ritz. but the new billy's needs some serious work.

we were seated right away and that was the highlight of this visit. when i asked for a different, empty table we were told no. we were served stale, brown bread and my stoli was the worst drink ever ( includes an awful raspberry mojito and shirley temple). i got a plate of iceberg lettuce, 10 pumpkin seeds, 5 little chopped tomatoes and to add insult to injury, frozen avocados.
just as we were eating our waitress cleaned the table next to us and sprayed ourfoodand our clothes with windex.
just awful!
