love. love, love this place. first off, i don't feel like the $$ sign is accurate. just about every main dish on this menu is $3.50-7. $ sign and great restaurant.

second, i don't know what the other reviewers are complaining about. i've been here 5 times and just found this place about a month ago. i've tried a different thing on the menu every time. the staff is helpful at figuring out what you'd like to try if you can't decide. the place is not always full. i've gone at different times during the day, and there were hardly any other people waiting ever. biggest crowd for me was about 5 other people and they weren't in line. perhaps it's a student hangout though and i've just been going during breaks and finals. every time i've been served within 5 or 10 minutes. it is sort of like fast food without the fast food taste, and they call your name and you pick your food up at the counter (which has left me wondering where the water and spoons were, but someone has helped me).

as far as the food, it is very good. i managed to spend about $8 on a meal that kept me full the entire day. almost everything on the menu is under $5. i've tried the ceviche (yes! they do have ceviche!) i enjoyed it immensely. i tried a breakfast item that was slightly above mediocre, one that may have been improvised or it could have been the "5th amendment taco" which doesn't have a description, but they will tell you what it is. i know i've had another taco and maybe a burrito and a taco, but i don't remember the names. both were outstanding. and suprise!! the food is extremely healthy. bottom line: it's one of the best values if this is the type of place you're looking for.

so, on to the atmosphere. it has the hipster/college feel. it's got warm orange walls which i think would be nice for a casual meeting place with either friends or a first date. they have background music going on. i think i heard radiohead once and some other stuff i recognized the melody to. i haven't spent much time in the paseo area since i'm new here from 8 years in norman, but btt seems to have a norman vibe to it.

please don't listen to the other reviews. give this place at least one more chance if you don't like the food the first time. it's well worth it. let the people behind the counter know what you'd like and need. they are more than happy to provide you with the best advice to make this a good experience.

gave them another shot. they did not disappoint tonight! great santa clarita cobb tonight, guys :)

-----25 may, 2013-----

4 out of 5 days they have screwed up my salad. you wanna charge 9 bucks for a cobb and then leave out 1/2 of the ingredients? done with you on my dime! and service is rude and painfully slow when you point out their mistake.

does not live up to the hype.. they were at a craft show we participated in over the weekend - i was stoked out of my mind to get to try them. i had one of my favorite styles of tacos: steak street tacos called "beef al carbon." it was fairly flavorless. steak (definitely not much coffee rubbed), lettuce (doesn't even say it has lettuce!), a ton of raw onions (not roasted as stated in their menu), fresh jalapenos (should have been pablanos according to their menu), and a handful of cilantro (which is okay with me!) also had a ground beef taco, "the guardian." it was a luke-warm drippy grease bomb. and our last attempt was a chicken burrito. it was taste-free mush filling.
their omg sauce (orange) was too mayonnaise-y with an unpleasant hit of chipotle, and their omfg sauce (green) was okay, but was too much off an odd tang.
it wasn't amazing, incredible, or good. very crowded (30-minute line wait). very short service. very disappointed. the only good part - the ingredients were fresh!

call me prissy, but..... i was not impressed. i believe in giving places several chances, and their food is, at least in my opinion, alright at best. service wasn't too great either. i guess i am partial to the small taco trucks on the south side.

good food, bad attitude. i've been eating there for years now. in the last 3 months the attitude of the staff has become increasingly rude. they almost seem annoyed that you're calling them when placing a to go order. if you work at a restaurant people will call asking for food from time to time. sorry to be a bother.

recently i placed a to go order. when i got home it wasn't complete so i called to ask if i could come back to pick up the rest, instead of apologizing, i was told i must of ordered it incorrectly. i looked at my receipt, i didn't. upon re-arrival they tried to charge me for the missing items. when i told them i had paid no more than 15 minutes ago, they made me wait a few minutes while they discussed it, then gave me the food and shut the window without a word.

nice way to handle customers.

horrific customer service. i never do this, but tonight i was so blown away by the lack of professionalism and customer service that i feel like i am required to share this with anyone who will read it. after being a loyal customer of big truck tacos for several years and experiencing the occasional bad service and shrugging it off as a one time thing i've finally reached my limit. tonight was the kicker, 7:45 and a minimal crowd, i pull up to the drive-thru window thinking i could just get some chips and quac, there is no one else around. window opens and i explain that i didn't call anything in but just wanted to get some chips (credit card in hand mind you ready to pay) only to be answered with a soured look and a terribly condescending tone. "this is a pick up window" was the only phrase that came from the employee mouth over and over. i apologized (which i regret doing) and explained i thought it wouldn't be a problem for just chips, but still all i got was "this is a pick up window". not " it's okay let me get those for you but next time please call ahead, or come inside" or even a " i'm sorry i can't do that, but if you park and come in i would be happy to get those for you." but instead you turned away money, that is hard earned and will be spent elsewhere from now on.

hmmmmmm. tried big truck tacos.

atmosphere * the building used to be a run down burger shack that they fixed up. good job on finding an old beat up building and making it useful. btt has actually turned this little known, rough part of town into a foodie paradise. it's usually crowded at lunch time and you might have a hard time getting in and out.

service (not even a star) they seem to be nice people but if you read the reviews and actually experience the service you will notice that they don't treat their customers like people. i know they get busy and that they see a lot of people every day, but come on, if they didn't have customers, they wouldn't be in business. you'll most likely notice that you're a number at this restaurant.

food *** i must say that the food here is actually really good. they are brilliant at marketing and have quite a variety of different tastes on the menu. one thing that makes up for the food being over priced is the amazing salsas that they put on the tables. i usually use about half of the mango habenero salsa on two tacos. they know salsa and that's a good thing. it's not a place that i would eat at every week or every month though, just based on the prices. they have a good product, but they also let the hype go to their heads. compare this to the taco trucks on the southside of okc, those guys know what their doing. i'll see if i can sneak some southside tacos into btt sometime to marry amazing tacos with amazing salsa. they should just can their salsa and call it good.

total ** id give them three stars, but they'll have to price their tacos in the right range. don't get me wrong, i'll pay a lot of money for good food, i'm just waiting for btt to make something that i can say, "hmmmmm, that's really good and worth the money." keep up the good salsa!

best tacos in the city!. i love big truck! i always get the wojo and beef al carbon, and split the white bean dip with my husband. the coffee rub on the beef is great and altogether the flavors of their tacos are so fresh. the place itself is small and often busy, so finding a seat is sometimes a problem...but the food is definitely worth it!
