big roddy's rippin' rib shack

by far the best ribs in all of brisbane, with many american style restaurants popping up big roddy's reigns supreme. the wait on food is incredible short with ribs always cooked to perfection and the burgers are to die for. with 3 monthly changing beers on tap as well as their own champion brew lagar they really have all bases covered with this home run of a restaurant. big roddy and his staff are always warm and welcoming. have been back multiple times and will definitely be back again. #reviewchallenge

came for dinner on mothers day. i must say the staff are super friendly and helpful. the food arrived amazingly fast after ordering. first tried the chicken strips with lime and pepper mayo to start which were amazingly juicy. the crumbing was super crunchy and not oily. the lime & pepper mayo had a zing and blew me away - 4.5/5. sharing the pork and beef ribs and there was heaps of meat on the beef ribs. the pork ribs were ok but i felt i had better flavoured pork ribs at ribs & rumps and smoke bbq in new farm. but the beef ribs were the best i've had so far. so full of flavour and fall off the bone! 4.5/5. i must also mention the coleslaw! it was so fresh and crunchy. i was expecting some pre-prepared soggy kfc style coleslaw, but no no no!! this was fresh and crunchy, a wonderful side to the ribs. the sweet potato fries were soft in the centre and crispy on the outside, very nicely cooked and not oily.
i finally got here and wasn't disappointed. 4/5.

this is hands down the best new restaurant in brisbane. big roddys signature ribs are epic. super tender, no knife needed. all their homemade sauces and the shiz. i will be back over and over

we dined on delicious pork ribs with a smoky bbq sauce - well cooked, succulent and flavourful meat. very kind of the manager to give us the free chicken wings on the promo flyer, although it had apparently expired. the cheeseburger sauce with the sweet potato fries was heavenly. the service is also fab - please keep it up! we will be back.

authentic american food and amazing service!! awesome vibe too and the people who work there look after you really well. beef ribs were cooked to the perfection! the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone as soon as we cut it! the pork ribs were equally as good just wish that we had ordered more. we ordered wings too and the sauce was so good - tasted like the authentic american wings! the sauces were free which made the whole experience even better! #reviewchallenge

finally south brisbane has a proper ribs joint. not only does roddy do some of the best, "meat falling off the bone" ribs around, everything on the menu is fantastic and the staff are so friendly and helpful. when i found out that roddy's favorite menu item is the chicken burger i had to try it and it did not disappoint. proper chicken, fresh salad, awesome sauce and he is happy for you to add extras. the cheeseburger is also one of the best offered anywhere. 

then there's the sides! from chicken bites to macaroni and cheese filled jalapeño peppers (yes that's right!) and buffalo wings a to die for, he's got you covered.
if your a fan of chilli, go for the max power sauce or if you're really keen, grab the pure chilli :)

different beers will appear on the taps each month which is also a nice thing, especially as he is supporting local brewers.

i'm getting to the point where i need to invest in the place, i just can't stay away.

big roddy's is definitely the best rib shack (and american-style dining) restaurant i've been to. i actually think about the 'fried chicken burger' on an almost daily basis since i had it last week (it's probably a good thing i live so far from the restaurant, otherwise, i would be there all the time :d )the poutine and other burgers are all great as well, not dry, but not overloaded with sauce either, all perfectly balanced in their ratios.staff are super friendly, even when busy their service is still fantastic! have been recommending to others, and hope to go back soon :]

big roddy's is the best example of a themed restaurant the south side of the river. the satisfaction of knowing that i will get value for money paired with outstanding quality ribs is what keeps me coming back. if you have been looking for a fresh spot to eat with the service other places lack then give roddys a go!

originally came here after seeing they offer chilli cheese fries. i've been 3 times now and have still yet to have the chilli cheese fries. this is with good reason, however. they offer the holy grail of foods; poutine (with real cheese curd too!). after over-indulging myself on poutine while in toronto i thought i'd never have true poutine again and would have to settle for chips, mozzarella, and gravy. happy to be proven wrong.

the first time we visited big roddy's was during peak hours of fish lane festival. though the shop was very crowded there was still space for two of us to squeeze in. service and delivery were both exceptionally fast and friendly. all customers seemed to be enjoying themselves.
the second time we had to bring some friends with us to experience the true epicness of this food. both of our friends were also extremely impressed with the food and portion size. was nice to see the owner out and about checking on customers too.

always telling friends about this place even recommended some our canadian customers who are convinced it's as good as the real thing!

i passed by a few times and it looked sooo good so i decided to try it. at first i was thinking about it because the ribs are always expensive (for a student) but i took the chance and it was worth it. the best flavor and also very accessible (even for a student). i would definitely love to go again! #bbqlover #reviewchallenge

we canadians just couldn't resist the call of poutine. unfortunately, we picked the busiest night of the year during the fish lane festival and the place was packed and very loud. so we ordered takeaway full rack pork ribs, green beans, and the obligatory poutine. the quality and quantity were worthy of the $42 we paid for everything. everything was good but being the poutine snobs we are the chips were a bit soggy. but we'll be back when they are not so busy to resample.

take two. may 22. stopped for the pulled pork burger and garlic beans. scrumptious and healthy size options. great service!!! bumped the rating up to 5.

have been here three times now and it has not disappointed. the quality and quantity of the food is always awesome. tonight i got a half rack of pork ribs with honey carrots and my partner got the fried chicken burger 'big roddy style'. it was all amazing, have also had the poutine which is to die for. the menu for food and drinks have a great variety. the environment is very new and trendy. the staff are friendly and welcoming. i will definatley be back! #reviewchallenge

great vibe, welcoming staff and satisfying food. thoroughly enjoyed my veggie burger. chilli fries were a little too hot to handle but poutine was spot on. will definitely return.

came for the wings and came back again for everything else on the menu. new firm favourite location for delicious garlic buffalo glaze 👌 the pure chilli habanero sauce is legit spicy but super delicious, eat at your own peril. wings, chicken burger and ribs has all been great and will work my way through the rest of the menu i'm sure.
