big city bread cafe

very comfortable cute environment! the food was great and i would love to eat here again. we went during sunday brunch and the line was out the door, worth thewaitthough. the staff were fast and very polite.

this restaurant continues to be one of my favorite breakfast spots in athens. on weekends there is almost always a line, but thewaitis well worth it. whether you have the continental breakfast (where you choose three items, definitely get the salmon),one of their many omelets or the eggs benedict, you will be happy with your selection. also they have cheerwine in a glass bottle.

can't cook an egg.. every fried egg (over medium and hard) i have ever ordered here has had uncooked whites. so careless! burnt biscuits are common. snootywaitstaff. hate that they don't do free coffee refills, but have no system for paying for a refill other than waiting in a god awful, long line all over again. free refills people... you over charge so much that this should be a given! so overrated!

the worst service in athens. food was so-so at best. the service andwaitwere outrageous. had towait35 minutes for food we had ordered to go. (what's the point of ordering food to go if you have towaitin a crazy line?) when we finally got to pay for our order, the cashier was downright rude and disrespectful, telling us we should have known to cut in line, despite there being no sign and no other employees to ask. please, make a sign. please, hire employees who are friendly and courteous, maybe even helpful, instead of just judgmental.

it's like mad max in there.. consistently disappointed. the food is fine, but nothing is really creative or original. the description of the sandwiches on the menu is always a big oversell. there is always awaitto get a table after you've paid for you food and been handed drinks. so you end up standing around with your party waiting for someone to leave. when they do all the other people standing around swoop in on it. it's not a very friendly or relaxing environment. it's more rude and competitive. be rude or don't get a table.

the bread is good and the location is really cool. if they're not busy there is still an unreasonably longwaitfor a sandwich.

i give it a shot about once a year(over the past 5 years or so) because i like the concept and i want it to be good. it just always feels like you're walking into a new restaurant that needs to work out all the kinks in their food and seating. maybe they'll get it next year...
