busy place, good toast. went here for lunch on a monday, close to 1 pm, and the diner was still busy. was hoping for a booth seat, but the only 2 spots available were at the counter, right beside the kitchen.

dirty dishes still occupied one of the spots, and since there was only one wait staff, i had to stare at the dirty dishes for a few minutes.

the waitress did eventually take the dirty dishes away and cleaned the table.

i only asked for water as my drink, and since all the big water glasses were being washed, she gave me a kid sized water glass - she did say that she would replace it with a bigger glass once cleaned, but she never did.

she did give us ample time to decide and took our order quickly. i ordered the traditionalbreakfast(i rarely order anybreakfastitems, but in this case i felt likebreakfastfor lunch and was glad for the all daybreakfastmenu).

i chose 3 eggs, and at first was disappointed that they only offered rye or multigrain bread for toast (i prefer white toast). i usually like my eggs over hard. the food did take a little longer to arrive (most likely due to my over hard eggs, which does take longer to cook), but when it did the food was hot.

one thing i did notice was the cook didn't break the yolk on the eggs to achieve over hard, which is good as most places - to speed up cooking - will break the yolk. however, i noticed that the egg was slightly black (not burnt) which tells me the flat top was dirty.

for my meal, i felt the toast was the star. i picked multigrain - and i'm not a fan of multigrain - i found it good. i couldn't even tell it was multigrain at all, to me it tasted like toasted white bread, kudos !

yes, the hashbrowns tasted like the typical frozen mccain hashbrowns, but i have no complaints about them. the potatoes were hot, a little buttery taste to it, not overly salty, and overall good.

however, i was abit disappointed that the waitress didn't ask us if we wanted another helping of hashbrowns, seeing how it was unlimited.

i like the fact that when the bill is presented, instead of mints that no one ever takes/eats, double bubble chewing gum was provided !

overall, a decent dining experience.

came here forbreakfastwith some friends a few weeks ago. we left our name on the sheet and were seated when we got back. the wait staff checked in on us often. the menu has a good selection and we all liked our choices (i got the chuck norris, husband got the benedict, and friends got pancakes and waffles). would come back here.

great reviews and great place unless you order the belgian waffles.

as we sit at the bar table we watch the belgian waffles come frozen out of a box which we could have bought ourselves and made in a toaster at home.

i love greasy spoon places forbreakfastbut the ones i've been can make waffles from scratch.

disappointing.

so dissapointing!
first time coming here as we just moved from victoria and we're searching for a greatbreakfastplace on our anniversary .
my husband and i were literally the only customers in the restaurant. when i walked in the staff didn't say a word. they all just looked at me, i said "for two?" a man, i assume was the manager (although hard to tell, as he was sitting at the bar playing on his phone) pointed to a table, again, without a word.
eventually, the waitress put her phone down, after showing the rest of the staff pictures of a dog she wanted to buy, she came over to the table took our order and left. she brought over my coffee and two glasses of water that tasted as if it were scooped directly out of the river.
coming from bc we are absolutely appalled at the quality of the drinking water here in calgary, and i would assume if you owned a restaurant here you would at least filter the water that you give to your customers.
after we ordered, a different waitress came over to take our order, which we explained had already been taken. in a restaurant that small, with no other customers, how could you not notice that we had ordered.
the food was brought out by the cook because the other two waitresses were nowhere to be found and the food was going cold sitting waiting for them to come back. the food was the only positive part of the experience. although incredibly overpriced.
i put my empty coffee cup at the edge of the table for a refill but never got one, probably due to the fact that we were completely ignored after our order was taken. no quality check and no bill. after we finished eating we waited for at least 5 minutes but no one came back. so i left my husband to find someone to pay. needless to say, this was the first time in my life we didn't tip.
we will never come back. it was the worst service i have ever received.
fyi, my husband and i have been in the restaurant industry for over 10 years.

deeelish!!! this is the quintessentialbreakfastdiner. it has been awhile since i immersed myself in the breakfasty-goodness of the belmont, if for only the reason that i don't line up for food and that's the only way you're getting into the belmont in a weekend. we went monday and it was still jammed with patrons looking to get their bennies on. we had both the bfast burrito (double serving) and the classic bfast with bacon. this was a lot of food and we packed up what we couldn't finish and enjoyed it later that day. the food didn't disappoint. the hash browns come uniquely prepared ain't mash-style. the toast well buttered so be forewarned. the eggs perfect to-order.. the coffee came piping hot and was readily refilled without prompting and pleasant repartee. both of our servers were great. definitely my weekday bfast splurge spot!

had heard great things about this place that always looked so busy on the weekend. finally got the chance to go for brunch and have to admit i was underwhelmed. the bf and i ordered thebreakfastburrito and the scramble (cannot remember the exact name of the dish). food was perfectly fine but was quite ordinary so i don't understand the hype. perhaps i went in with too great expectations. would still recommend but wouldn't say it is necessarily worth the long waiting times. ambiance was very great and staff mixed (had one server that was quite friendly but the other couldn't seem to care less)

re: worth reading. wow, would never have figured you were the owner. your very obviously deffensive about this all online, and yet you said nothing to me in person before i left. a wise person who runs a business knows that you should always resolve issues before the customer leaves. i think it goes to show exactly what i am saying about the way you run your business, and what i experienced yesterday. you come online to tell the rest of urban spooners that my bad experience is a result of paranoia and anxiety disorders?? classy. i wasnt watching your kitchen. i was busy reading something. i definitely know even more now that i have good reason to believe what i do. you know it and i know it. and ya know, i don't care as its your word against mine. regardless of the he said she said, you definitely should find someone more suitable to manage your business front for you. you clearly have poor people skills. belmont used to be really good. over priced, but good. and just so you are aware, i never asked to have a cheaper meal. i asked to sub avocado for meat. i didnt storm off. i payed for my meal. i just didnt care to eat it after i observed you and your staff acting really odd. i didnt mind paying for my meal because i don't expect things for free. if i was paranoid and had all these issues you claim, then this would be an issue i encountered all the time. this is the first time mr. manager. now on the other hand make your self and your business look tacky. bashing someone's bad review and dismissing it by saying i'm self absorbed/centered, paranoid, and have social anxiety disorder issues? real classy. maybe you're in the wrong business.

horrible experience. worth reading

i have been visiting belmont for a very long time. the staff had always been very friendly. the last time i visited belmont, i ordered the smoked meat hash without the meat. it comes ouf kind of like abreakfastpoutine. they did it for me no problem. today, i again asked for the same thing and requested if i could substitute the meat for avocado instead. this girl seemed annoyed that i had asked for something different and did not seem interested in accommodating it. i said that if it was an issue, i didnt mind ordering something else off the menu. she went over to the manager, and they spent a long time on the computer. she was rolling her eyes a lot, and seemed annoyed. then after, my food was brought out by one of the cooks. (its an open concept kitchen). i was busy reading however, and wasnt paying attention to what was going on. he dropped the food off, and then went back to the other cook. they kept looking over at me and laughing and chatting quietly about something. then i noticed the server and the manager were doing the same thing. the server kept peaking out from the corner and giggling and staring at me. the cook came back over with my toast. i asked if i had offended anyone, and was feeling upset that they were all looking over at me and laughing. he said that wasnt the case, but he seemed incredibly ingenuine and even sarcastic. then the server came over and asked me if everything was okay. i explained that i was feeling upset and paranoid to eat my food because i had seen them all looking over and laughing at me. she started stumbling on her words and then made up a very unbelievable story about them making it with meat and how it was funny that they had to take it out... ya. right. i asked for my bill, and said i was sorry if i offended anyone. i was polite the whole time as i am a server, and unless someone is asking for something outrageous, its never a big deal to give the customer what they want. all while the manager hid in the back, and not once came over to talk to me. what a horrible experience. this place was mybreakfastplace. i bring my parents and friends here. now i'm gonna make sure i tell everyone i know what a class-less place it has become. bad reviews spread like wild fire.

rudest waitress ever. we've had a blond australian (?) waitress a couple of times here and she's been the rudest, most condescending waitress we've ever had. she acts like you're putting her out for simply existing. she's so bad that we've stopped frequenting the diner-- an otherwise great little localbreakfastplace. to whoever owns belmont, i'd highly recommend firing her unless you're looking to drive people away. if that's the case, then she's definitely your top employee.
