belgian cafe - intercontinental hotel

another one of my regular visit place , weather its a weekend or any day is fine for belgian . it an amazing place to sit and chill with your friends and family. even though i have not had mussels since i am not a fan of them, but i have seen people forget the world while they eat it. from their expression it feels like its heaven so its a must recommend. you enter belgian and not order a hoegaarden then you'll have an incomplete night. the beer is fabulous, 3 glasses of hoegaarden is enough to have a good night.

a must visit for people who are looking for a pub which doesn't have loud music or should i say any music. its more of a get together place. one of the atmosphere's during football matches. fries to die for!
a good place for date night or a hangout, suits both.
i'd give it 5 but would definitely love some light music.

food is amazing, good selection of beer! expensive though for what it is! great place but overpriced!

good place for chilling with your friends. best beer selection in abu dhabi. the finger foods are not something to write home about.

since belgian food was the majority vote thought id go for the mussels. funnily enough, they had a thai curry option and went for that. the others went for the fish and chips (cod) with mushy peas and mussels with white wine all for mains, all with chips (fries). starters were the liver and cheese croquettes.

liver was good; melt in your mouth texture but with a little bit of a bite to it smothered in a cognac sauce made this a winner for me. cheese croquettes were delicious to and hefty in size.

mussels were of a slight disappointment though, particularly the wine. bare in mind however, this could be just my taste buds but the mussels seemed not of the freshest variety and had a tainted quality to them. regardless, the thai curry sauce was a hit and super tastey to boot, helping out the lack-luster taste in the mussels. fish and chips were and are probably one of the best fish and chips in town served with refreshing minty/mushy peas and the signature thick cut chips. special mention to the chips or fies=delish.

unfortunately had no room for dessert as the quantity for each plate was generous to say the least.

overall you get value for your money for the quantity you get so come hungry. ive had better mussels but in the end its just a matter of taste so try it out yourself.

will be back to try the pie. mmmmmm pie. . .and probably the waffles

the first time i visited this place was on saint patricks day only because of all the praise i had heard of the restaurant. it had a very lively and a very down-to-earth environment. there was a game that was being played on the screen which brought a very sporty feel to it. we ordered for some clams, in garlic butter sauce, i think and damn, the taste was just ravishing. belgian beer cafe is definitely one of the best restaurant's i have been to. it was just simply, fabulous.

i have been here quite a few times and can say that this is one of the best place for beer there is a long list to choose from my favourite s being hoegarden and leffe. the food menu gives you a wide option and we took a lot of time to zero in on our order the first time we went there. the second time we visited there we had mussels cooked in tasty garlic sauce ,we loved it . its's a cool place i looking forward to going here again and try some more dishes. awesome place

belgian beer cafe is one of the best places for beer in abu dhabi and even though i am not a beer person, my friends thoroughly enjoyed the wide selection of belgian beer. and by the looks of all the people there, it looked like everyone loved their beer too. i was more interested in the quick bites (the appetizers) they had on menu (always the foodie!). their menu looked very appetizing and it was hard for us to choose from the lot. we had 5 options we really loved and were torn as to which ones to order. however, we finally narrowed down our options to gebakken scampi’s met lookboter which is prawns in garlic butter and toast met boschampignons afgewerkt met room which was basically creamed forest mushrooms on toast!
if anyone says belgian beer cafe is only beer – they couldn't be more wrong. the cafe whips out some mouth-watering dishes as well. though they specialize in mussels and mussel dishes varieties, i did not get a chance to try them out. hopefully next time.
my two appetizers were ah-may-zing!!! the prawns in garlic butter were a little sour but tasty nonetheless. the prawns were fresh, they were well soaked in a bed of sour, thin garlic butter sauce and you could literally scoop out the thin sauce and savor it. as for the forest mushrooms on toast – it was one huge slice of toast topped with creamy forest mushrooms resting on a bed of the creamiest sauce ever. we wiped the entire sauce off with the selection of bread given to us. we had a great time – great ambiance, wide variety of belgian beer and most importantly tasty food. if only i had my main course from here – i would have been one happy girl!

ever since i've visited belgian beer cafe i have a new found love for the belgian, they know their beer. it's the perfect place to chill with friends to catch up for a drink after a hard days work, or a "couple" of drinks on a weekend. on the menu you will find a wide variety of belgian beer that will leave you scratching your head deciding what to order. the hoegaarden and the leffe blond are my personal favourites. for something to munch on while you're guzzling down your drink, i would suggest the 'spicy chicken wings'. this dish is cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bbq sauce and will leave you wanting more! also you could try the belgian fries which is good too. the ambience and music is very soothing, and the service first class. all-in-all a very chilled out place and like i said, the belgian got this one spot on!
