amazing views and help. i have had many meals at beaches at vilano. it is a casual dining experience with excellent views of the ocean and st. augustine. you feel as though you have been transported to an island far away while enjoying well prepared cuisine. theserviceis friendly and prompt.

good enough!. i've been here multiple times now. good atmosphere (although the music can be a little loud on the weekends). best thing on the menu: fried fish sandwich, and i'd stick to the sandwiches for the most part. crab cakes were pretty awful (small with barely any crab). theservicehas always been great, though!

my wife and i had an enjoyable late afternoon dinner here. the location is excellent. beaches is located on the water overlooking the tolamato river with a view of a pier, the bridge, and st. augustine in the distance. we started with a smoked fish dip appetizer which was delicious. the flavor of the dip would have been more pronounced if it wasn't served on a seasoned pita chip. for dinner my wife had the shrimp and grits and she very much so enjoyed the dish. plentiful shrimp, excellent seasoning, and served over grit cakes. i would say the grits were very much like polenta. i had the fish tacos with the fresh catch of the day, which was red fish. the tacos were not bad but could have been better. the menu stated that they were seasoned with a bang bang sauce, but i did not really taste much of it. they were also served with cheese on the taco, which i personally don't think belongs on a fish taco. the mango salsa was delicious and balanced out the flavors. theservicewas not bad, but a bit inattentive considering the restaurant was practically empty. if we make it back to vilano beach we would eat here again.

the environment andservicewas good. the food was sub-par. the mint was not fresh. tater tots were over cooked. all fried food was over cooked. the burger was under cooked the first time. they didn't replace the patty therefore it came out charred so every now and then there'd be a charred bitter bite. over all, i wouldn't go there for the food but theserviceand the view.

much better than the 2013 reviews say. my wife and i went to beaches about 5:30 on 2/28/14. my first time since the place was under another name several years ago. i had the fish sandwich catch of the day with grilled red fish--three other fish options were available, including salmon and two that i can't remember. my wife had fish and chips with a white fish.

even though it was happy hour, theservicewas excellent. kally was our waitress, and she immediately took our drink orders and answered a couple menu questions. while she was getting the drinks another waitress stopped at the table to ask if someone had already been at the table.

we were in no hurry, but after we placed our order, the meals came in a completely reasonable time. one minor problem was that my wife got fries with her fish when she'd asked for tater tots (but that's a natural error chips are fries). anyway, we flagged down another wait staff and explained the problem. the tater tots showed up in a couple minutes. we both enjoyed our meals, though my wife didn't finish, so she took home one of her fish fillets and the fries she received by mistake. i thought theservicewas so good that i asked to see the manager to let him know. he turned out to be the same person who took care of the tater tots. i'll certainly go back.

great recommendation. our hotel owner recommended beaches, so, we tried it and we're glad we did. fish tacos was their special that night and that was just what i wanted. my husband tried them, too, and we both loved them as well as the basket full of sweet potato fries with honey.servicewas good and friendly, and we enjoyed sitting by an open window late in the day. (walked on the pier next door for the actual sunset--beautiful!)

yummy. we made a quick stop for a bite to eat.....our first time there.
we were seated quickly and waited on right away..our waitress, amber, was a delight....she was very helpful with knowing everything on the menu and making suggestions. the food was great, and theservicewas great....i give both 5 stars !!!

so much better. my husband and i are so excited to be able to go to beaches and finally have great food &serviceto match this great location. we love the sunsets but it was always hit or miss with the food and service. the past few times we've been pleasantly surprised, the food is 100% better, it has a positive vibe now, i had fresh wahoo that was amazing and they serve it with a fresh pineapple mango salsa, i highly recommend it. they also have a good wine list too. a lot of good things are happening there at beaches, well be back more often now.

destined to close. well, seems like another restaurant at this location is on the path to failure. don't understand why management can't get the basics down like, descent food, reasonable prices on drinks, friendlyserviceand an accomodating attitude. they miss out on all these. you can sense the disdain the owners must have for their customers. ok place for a drink (if you like expensive and small drinks)

local review. food pretty average which is a disappointment to the locals since there are so many good restaurants in st. aug. great location but they could put a little more effort in preparing their meals. if you're getting in the 60's in the favorability rating, something is wrong, you should at least be in the upper 80's.

don't take the locals for granted. tried this restaurant a couple of times, and both times very average, especially for st. augustine. the tourists might not know any better, but the locals will be what keeps you in business.

beaches is great (get the tacos) and if you think youre getting badserviceyoure probably being overly critical. enjoy yourself!

the tattoo waitress. we heard about a restaurant by the name of beaches, and decided to give it a try. while entering the door a hostess sat the party ahead of us, and before she could even return, our soon to be waitress(haley) sat my party at table on the beach. the location was superb, the prices were a touch high, the food was great, but theservicewas out of this world. we tend to frequently eat out alot, and i have never had such goodservicefrom a waitress or a waiter, such as haley gave my party. the only thing that stood out more then her tattoos was her personality and attentiveness to our needs. i would definitely recommend this restaurant, not only because of the atmosphere and the food, but theservicemakes the trip well worth it.

great managment & service. what a great way to start my weekend! my husband and i visit many restaurants in st. augustine and this was by far in my top 3! to me, its all about the management. as we were eating our meal, ( that we received within 15 minutes, and it was great) i asked to speak with management, ( amie ) greeted us. she was very polite, and always kept a smile.she procceded to ask me how i was and if everything was okay. i only wanted to let her know that our meals were great, and as soon as i walked into that restaurant, it felt like a very relaxing and hospitable environment. theservicewas excellent and the food even better. i don't see how someone could not fall in love with an atmosphere like this. i will be returning, maybe with some of the girls next time:)

no table for you!. this restaurant has a great location....but that is it!

when you call about reservations...juan tells you...we dont take reservations, but when we tell them we will have 12 people...he then says "let me take you name and phone, and time, and we will do our best to seat you".

when we arrived on june 23rd, the hostes "knew nothing of our request", so we asked to speak to juan who came up and said it would be 1.5 hours.

we were told that someone else had called at 3:00 pm and that the large table right in front of us at the door, was being held for them!

we called at noon....so when we discussed that the hostess's...kept apologizing, instead of honoring juan's promises earlier in the day.

we have eaten at this location previously, and some of the food is good, but not at the price.

we went to the vilano grill and pizza...which was formerly benitos..and the pizza and sliders were good,servicewas very good.

we will make it our mission in life...>to blog....blog...and blog again...about beaches.

if they are so busy..then reservations (especially for large groups) would increase their business, and would eliminate angry customers...

do the math....if 10 people tell 10 people who tell 10 people..not to frequent a reestaurant....then they will suffer...especially in the slow months....when all they really have in vilano...are the regulars from ponte vedra beach south...
