beachcomber restaurant

a first impression not very impressive.  i can not comment on the food or theviewbecause we didn't get that far.  stopped by on saturday afternoon (may 14th).  it was busy, but that usually isn't an issue for us.  the issue was the hostess (yellow dress).  we were standing by the hostess stand as she approached with a scowl on her face.  she didn't greet us.  no "hi' or "i'll be right with you", nothing.  she grabbed some menus, stepped around us and went to a group behind us that had already checked in.  it was few more minutes then she reappeared at the check-in.  we seemed to be a bother to her, so when she asked for our name then told us it would be a 20 minute wait, we declined and went elsewhere.  if you are the first person people encounter at a place of business it is best to be happy and engaging, not rude.  so sorry if you were having a bad day.  :(   hope to actually try the food sometime as other reviews say it is great.

mediocre service.

niceviewhowever host declined to seat us 45 minutes before closing, at 8:15. the waiter asked the manger, "should i seat them"? he said "no, we are closed" when i mentioned that they're website claimed they were open until 9, he flippantly claims they had closed early.

what a view!. on the sand,viewof the dunes and ocean- awesome! the two previous reviews bashed the food but i just had a burger today that was awesome. hand shaped patty with great flavor, lettuce and tomato were fresh. fries were average. great place to relax and eat, can walk right up from the beach.

the beach, the sun, the beer!. you have come to the beachcomber with the right attitude! the food is simple and great, the beer is cold and theviewis terrific! the place is a little unkept but that lends to the experience. the fried shrimp is the best. try the blackeyed pea slaw also!! they have a great breakfast as well but it does take a little time to get it after you order it. they will tell you that. so have another beer and watch the waves!

delicious breakfast that includes huge, i mean huuuuge, pancakes and yummy omelets. fresh and delicious seafood sandwiches for lunch. all with a greatviewof st. augustine's beautiful beach!

great beach b'fast or lunch. we often stop by the beachcomber for breakfast or lunch when we are biking out at the beach. most of the seating is outside on the deck under large umbrellas. it's located right on the beach and even tho' the dunes obscure yourviewof the water, the sea breeze is nearly constant. the menu is standard beach-pub food but the fish tacos and fish sandwiches are a notch above. if you enjoy a good cup of coffee or a cold beer with the sand beneath your feet and the ocean breeze in your hair, the beachcomber is the place to go.
