bâton rouge steakhouse & bar

this is a review for the hunt club baton rouge.. sorry to post on the kanata one but i guess the one on hunt club doesn't want the truth or no one has added them since they're a fairly new location.

the service was decent.. the food the horrible.  i went with my gf and her two kids.. the kids menu has 4 options.. all unhealthy crap.    the kidschickenfingers were unseasoned/unflavoured garbage.  i ordered the 16oz ribs.. which were first of all over priced.. $28 before tax.   the top long rack of ribs were literally burnt to shit.. hardly any meat on them.. and they had the nerve to stick a 3 rack of ribs underneath which were perfect.    my gf just ordered the spinach dip because there was nothing appealing to a vegetarian..  the dip was just goo and sweet crap - and they served it with tortilla chips..  a total disaster and waste of time.   dont be a sucker and enter this location.

good service. terrible food, spinach dip was sloppy and sweet. left a terrible taste in my mouth. disgusting amount of fries, but they tasted okay. if you go with children, do not order the friedchickenand i'd suggest asking the waiter to give half the normal amount of fries, unless you want your kids to be sick on the ride home.

we finally redeemed a gift card after almost a year. i have to say that the service here was very good. no craft beers to speak of so i opted for water. two out of the four dishes served had to be sent back. thechickenstrips arrived cold and the rib steak ordered medium rare arrived medium. the manager came to the table to apologise and rectified the mater promptly. to give them credit the steak would be fairly hard to get medium rare since it was only a quarter inch thick, no excuse for coldchickentenders though. i lucked out this time and got a perfectly done inch thick medium rare piece of prime rib that was finished on the grill. my side of garlic mashed was a tad on the dry side and the veggies were overdone and mushy. the other meal of ribs and beans was a small portion and overly sweet and overdone. i came with low expectations from my last visit a few years back so i was surprised i was the one with the semi acceptable meal. mediocrity at its finest in kanata.

disappointed. i ordered the louisanachickensalad. first course was a cream of potato "soup" that was essentially a bowl of mediocre mashed potatoes - not liquid at all. the salad was a let-down - a pile of iceberg lettuce (not mixed greens) topped with a ridiculous amount ofchickenand some dressing with the consistency of ketchup. if i'm going to treat myself to 900 calories and 48 grams of fat (!) i'd like to eat something tasty.
service, however, was great. also, in the past i've had a grilled vegetable sandwich at this location and it was very good.

salad at a steak house. i've been to this a few times as it is my brother in laws favourite. i didn't order steak for the first time there but got a salad instead... i thought i could finish it but it was huge! i don't even think i made a dent..
thechickenpieces were cold which weirded me out and make the batter taste a little off. they were fine with giving me two salad dressings on the side as well.
the service was really good, as usual.

terrible food. we have gone to the baton rouge 3 times in the last 6 months and the food is terrieble. my steak was not cooked properly and the scallops i had were not fresh.

my son orderedchickenfingers and there was twice the bread thanchickenand his fries were overcooked .

the ribs my husband ordered were so dry and had to use my steak knofe to cut through the meat.

over priced food, quality of food isn't great either had achickenbreast with fries and salad the fries were soggy defiantly cooked in old oil as well as thechickenwas dry. second time around got the steak asked for medium rare got a brick of a steak that was burnt to a crisp and they didn't want to comp me for it, trying to explain to me that's medium rare ........ but as i got angry they realized they had no choice.

side ribs andchickenbreast too dry. ribs was burnt and dry andchickenbreast was also way too dry. for this price i expect it better. swiss chalet makes better ribs and chicken.

rip off!. me and my wife have been to a lot of good restaurants in and around ottawa. we thought we would try a local chain restaurant. this place was more than dissapointing with our spinach dip app more like a bowl of soup, mychickendry as a hockey puck, the bacon mashed potatoes were bland and missing the bacon and the ribs were mediocre at best. we also went on a game night and were rushed out of the restaurant in under 30 minutes. we both wanted to have a few drinks following our meal but were presented the cheque before even finishing our meal. for a plate that was $26 this was way over priced as the local pub makes much better food.

nice restaurant and quality food. love this place! i always get the catch of the day and dh gets thechickenand ribs. always amazing. i love the oplen kitchen and i like the service. we've been there for the odd date night and we also love going there with our friends for a nice night out once in a blue moon! be patient - you might need to wait a while to be seated, but it's worth it!
