another great lexington staple. the main thing i have learned since working in lexington is that there is no such thing as badbarbecuein davidson county. for around $10 i was able to get a large plate of chopped pork, slaw, fries, fried okra, hushpuppies and a drink. the food is affordable, the restaurant is cleaned, thebarbecueis pit cooked and the staff is friendly.

decided to stop here on the way back to charlotte from chapel hill for some lexington style bbq. i ordered a small chopped bbq tray which came with red slaw and hush puppies. the chopped pork was tender and had decent flavor, but was nothing outstanding. the red slaw was pretty average and the hush puppies were as well. overall the food was pretty good but no better than many otherbarbecuejoints i've tried.

amazing!. the bbq center is a small place with a lot character. i had the choppedbarbecueplate with red coleslaw, french fries, and hush puppies. all i can say is that bbq center is incredible, and the service and atmosphere are authentic.
for dessert, we shared the enormous family-sized banana split. i looked around and nearly every family had some sort of dessert.
it seems like bbq-c is the place to be, as it was busy with a steady flow of customers. it was an enjoyable experience for my entire family.

the meal looked fantastic - exactly as abarbecuemeal should. i bit into the pork and noticed a definite smoke flavor. it was also perfectly tender. i think my biggest problem was with the dip, which seemed a little heavy on the ketchup, making it sweeter than i like.

north carolina sez they invented barbecue, and who am i to argue? leave that for texans, memphisites, kansas city folks. the state is dotted withbarbecuejoints of all manners and sizes, ages and menus, but you’ll find a concentration of 20+ outlets around lexington, ky, and that’s where i started my tour. the “lexington barbecue” is supposed to be da bomb place, and the old timey one, but i arrived in town early in the am, andbarbecuecenter, another old was open early. i popped in expecting only to find a breakfast menu, but i suppose die-hard ‘cue folks eat it whenever it’s available, so the full menu was available. dilemma. breakfast? country ham biscuit with sausage gravy, oh my? or go right for the ‘cue. answer. both. ate the country ham on the spot, got the sandwich to go. both excellent. if you’re a ‘cue hound, head to north carolina. i’ve been to the bbq capital of texas, lockhart, and lexington beats it by miles.   tweet leave a re
