we reached there around 2.30pm on a working day and there were just 2 other occupied tables. we requested outdoor seating and they promptly complied. i love outdoorrestaurantseating and this was as good as it could get in that place. it was close to the pool (but separate) and with a sea view as well. it was well shaded at this time too.
we ordered their highly recommended paalkappa that comes with king fish curry in a banana leaf and it was too good- squishy yet not a paste. had the natholi fry for starter and it was crisp yet soft on the inside. their parottas and thrissur fish curry with mango were also very good. dessert was tender coconut pudding. although the pudding was tasty, the taste of the dressing was overpowering and partly ruined it. and then we made the mistake of ordering a 'nadan' chai. silly me, to even consider ordering chai in a bar. it was hopeless.
overall, great ambience, good food and very friendly service. we were served by liji and she was exceptional. made suggestions about the dishes and timed the dishes delivery also very well. considering that we were seated outside and in a cool, gentle breeze, bad timing of food delivery would have ruined the experience.
annoyances were the occasional flies, considering that we were seated outside, and also the 3-4 stray cats staring at us. ...and "no, i don't hate cats but don't like them begging either".
would definitely go there again if possible on a working day, as i heard that the quality of service suffers on the weekend due to the crowds.
