okay.foodwas good but not as flavorful as i expected.

several of my friends recommended this restaurant to me, and when i finally tried it i was not disappointed! great authentic cuban food. try their cubano sandwich and a cuban coffee. very small restaurant, but thefoodis amazing. i will definitely come back.

not a fan.   we tried them one time and was digusted.   there were only a couple of other customers in the place when we arrived, but it still took an exceedingly long time for someone to take our order, and then to receive our order.    there were several things we would have liked to try, but were told they were either "out" of them (if it was a canned beverage, for example) or that they had none prepared (afooditem from the menu).   we ultimately settled for a basic cubano sandwich, and after hearing all the hype about this type of sandwich, we were left scratching our heads.   the worst part of the trip, however, was the utter indifference of the staff.   there were no "thank yous", no "come agains", no "can we get you anything else?".   in fact, a group of the employees' friends or family came in, and they all gathered in a group within earshot of our table and loudly chatted and laughed in spanish- which is fine- but it overpowered our attempts to enjoy the mediocrefoodthat we settled on because they didn't have anything else.   i couldn't help but wonder, with the passive hostility we received (were we bothering them, by coming into their restaurant to order food?), that perhaps if we were cuban that whatever we'd been told they were "out" of might have magically appeared from the back-?    i don't care what others say about this place- we will never go back and we'd certainly never recommend it!

true cuban food. i lived in miami for a while, this is the cubanfoodof miami. only thing, really need to get a beer sale going, eating a good cuban sandwich with ice tea just don't get it. get some beer.

id recommend it.. ive been to back to cuba twice and thefoodis fine. but my girlfriend and her family are from panel del rio and like you hear it, ain't like momma fixed it.

tiny, unpretentious place, tucked away in a strip mall - we discovered on urbanspoon while visiting nashville. great food, great service! authentic cuban home cooking! i grew up eating cubanfoodand this was just like going home. we had croquetas and tostones (crispy fried plantains) for appetizers - they were great! i had the lechon asado (roast pork) w black beans and rice and yuca w mojo. awesome! my wife had the ropa vieja (cuban slow cooked pulled beef w savory sauce) w black beans and rice and sweet fried plantains. absolutely sublime. we brought our own ice cold beer and wine. we ordered cuban bread pudding to go - because we were too stuffed to eat it there and took home lots of leftovers! if you love cubanfood- you must visit back to cuba!

this saturday night it was my turn to plan a date for the boy. i wanted something exotic, in my price range, and something that he has never had before. we crossed the river and went to back to cuba ! i am far from an expert on cuban food. i know i love rice, beans and plantains.  when those goodies are the sides on any dish, i'm pretty much guaranteed to like it. when i lived up north, i had cubanfoodpretty often, my favorite being  habana outpost in brooklyn (mostly for how cool their outdoor seating is). i didn't even know there was any cuban in nashville until friends took me to back to cuba a few years ago. we have one cuban place in nashville to my knowledge, and thank goodness its pretty tasty. steve anticipates cuban goodness back to cuba is a cafe and not a restaurant.  it is very small, with just a hand full of tables.  nothing is fancy, don't expect tablecloths and linen napkins.

best cuban food. i recently got indulge at this little coffe shop with a great authentic cuban taste on the food, price is fair for what it is, a tasty and generous portions, cuban sandwich and medias noches are amazing, friut milkshakes are awesome as well. empanadas on special at $1, crockets, and papa rellena (stuffed potato) only 1.50!
now the best probably is the cuban coffee (like a espresso type of coffee) and the pastries and desserts mhmhmh, arroz con leche also.
as far as i knew, there are two rules at back to cuba cafe, rule one, you should order as it reads on the menu (on spanish) and two, no texting while you eating... really?
well, i kind of got clarify that they suggest and support no to text while you eating, not meaning not texting at the table, only while you eating and got your sacredfood(a latin cultural tradition it seems like) but also the enviroment is friendly and not big deal about it, they took care well of our table and the patrons around while i was there.

definetly i would recommend this little and unique cafe,foodand table experience are good!

decent digs, wouldn't come back. we chose this place out of convenience--our hotel was right around the corner. we ordered the chicken and pork sandwiches, along with plantains and a blackberry milkshake. i've never had cubanfoodbefore, so i'm not sure if thefoodwas an accurate representation, but it was okay. the sandwiches were a little bland, but no real complaints. the plantains were really really good--i would definitely order those again. my blackberry milkshake was more of a smoothie, but pretty good. they also serve imported sodas, so that was neat.

overall, it was a decent restaurant. if you're in the area, try it!

this is the type of place that we normally love... a hole in the wall, inconspicuous little spot. but thefoodand service were both terrible. my comparison of cubanfoodis miami, but i know i'm not in miami, so i even had lower expectations. it still managed to disappoint. overpriced. and terrible service on top of all that.

lwa. thefoodis wondrefull, very cuban and rico, i love it it is a real cuabn food
