babe's chicken dinner house

quantity over quality. if you want a big meal of comfort food and don't care that it's not prepared from good fresh ingredients, this is the restaurant for you. instant mashed potatoes, canned veggies and an overdressed, over-sweet iceberg salad. the meat selections are fair but there are other places to get good fried chicken or chicken fried steak where the rest of the meal is of much better quality. this is just more food than a person should eat at one sitting and not really great food either.

however, you are not allowed to carry out your leftovers, and there's a "churchy-christian" vibe that i could really do without. i'm pretty sure that jesus and the boys would just let us eat our chicken-fried steak in peace.

you basically have the option of fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken fingers, fried catfish, or smoked chicken. everyone at the table shares sides: green beans, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. you also get salad at the start of the meal. however, the salad is pretty much iceberg lettuce with a heavy dose of suggary dressing. i'm not a fan of creamed corn in general, but all of the rest of the food was amazing. i think i had three helpings of mashed potatoes. they aren't quite as good as the potatoes at celebration, but they are tasty.

wish they would go non-gmo. it's good but wish you would be more farm to table and buy more local produce.

want to like it but not my thing. i really want to like babe's. my extended family loves the place, which means i get drug along. i have had babe's multiple times, and i do not like it.

things to like about babe's. the property is outstanding. the entrance is a vine covered door that is quaint. you walk up a polished/rustic wood walkway to a beautiful courtyard. it's rustic with woodpiles, smoker and old tractor seats. it's cool. inside the seating is best described as "hunter". there are plenty of deer heads and racks with stuffed chickens in the rafters. the woodplank floors and heavy chairs all make for nice atmopshere if you are not anti-hunting.

the food is just not good. the salad is literally iceberg lettuce and a clear dressing. there is nothing else in there. the green beans have a nice spice added, but they are mushy. the cream corn is bland to a little sweet. i did not finish my helping. the mash potatoes are not good. i think plain potatoes just whipped with butter would be better. the fried chicken is not very flavorful. the taste is in the batter, but the actual chicken is blah. the smoked chicken is the best thing in the house. the smoked flavor makes its way into the meat.

servers at babe's are average to not attentive. i imagine it goes with the overall atmosphere, but i like a little more friendly and attentive. the server did not seem interested at all. he did his job, but that was it. my ice tea sat empty twice. i saw him standing over talking at the register.

above average. babe's is pretty popular down here and gets consistent high ratings on us. wanted to check it out myself.

nom'd - chicken fingers and various sides

went here on a saturday night around 7:30pm. did not have to wait to get in, though it was very busy and the place was full. service was friendly and our order did not take long to get there, maybe about 10 minutes or so. atmosphere is casual and laid back.

had mixed feelings about the food. chicken fingers, corn, and biscuits were very good. green beans were too mushy and had a certain taste to them that i did not enjoy. salad was adequate but very plain, as it was just iceberg lettuce and basic dressing. mashed potatoes were ok as well, nothing that stood out. i would say that the value that we got for the price was just about right.

enjoyed the experience and would go back, just be careful when you go as it could be very busy and wait times long. you may not enjoy all the offerings but i would bet that you find a few things that you really enjoy. a "like" from me.

the food is good, but not spectacularly better than any other good home style restaurant. the worst thing is the very, very, very long wait that is outside. definitely not worth it in the summer.

our last dinner in dallas was meeting up with more friends and they decided we had to try babe’s chicken house. now every time i mentioned babe’s chicken house to anyone in dallas they rolled there eyes back in there head and made an mmmmmmmm sound. this told me that this experience should be good.

i just spent $30 for a meal and was not allowed to take my sides home. they said it is because it is family style and that is cheating, yet we only ordered one round of sides. rip off!

will not go back. called ahead to ask about wait. was told no wait at all. 10 minutes later, miraculously there was a 30-40 minute wait. the blonde had the nerve to argue with me. done. great service.

the wait was terrible! we we're told 30-40 minutes, and after that kept being told it was an extra 10-15 minutes. we waited a total if 1.75 hours, while waiting in the 38 degree weather outside. to top it off, food was just okay and the waitress did not refill drinks. very disappointed, we've gotten better service at other babes locations.

great chicken fried steak, chicken, and hickory smoked chicken. desserts were great also.

outstanding. this place rocks. it is bring your own bottle if you choose. the food is top
shelf. chicken is the best.

here are a couple of tips:
they serve rc cola, you are welcome to bring cokes or beer to drink,
i see people bring ice chests.

if you want salad dressing other than their house oil dressing bring it, we bring ranch.

ask for amarillo dipping sauce with your chicken it is awesome and free, it is not on the menu, you have to asks!

this place is worth the wait , and you never know who you might meet in line,
but be sure you will leave full!

deserts, you will not have any room for them but they are as good as the meal, bananna pudding- awesome, fried peach pie with ice cream- do not get me going.

while babe’s history speaks for itself, babe’s food (and atmosphere!) is what truly makes this chicken house a must see in frisco. comprised of 4 barns that center around a patio, you’ll feel right at home as you’re ‘welcome y’all(ed)’ into babe’s wonderful world of country fried deliciousness.
