some good - some not so good.orderedcaesars to drink and they were very good - spic and flavourful.
started with chicken wings, thenorderedthe fish and pork dishes for main courses.
disappointed in the chicken wings, found them quite dry and tasteless. i enjoyed the fish and chickpea dish although i found it slightly salty. my husband was very disappointed in the pork - found it full of fat. he loves whipped potoatoes, but found these were almost soupy.
didn't have dessert. our waitress was very good. won't hurry back.

i was chatting in the toronto airport last year with a woman when we were both on our way to saskatoon. she had recommended ayden kitchen & bar and said that dale mackay, top chef canada's first winner, owned it.

this evening i was wondering where to have supper and remembered our conversation. so i checked it out and discovered that benet hunt, who was in the last top chef canada, is also there. i had watched this past season so decided that's where i was going for supper.

when i got there about 5:30pm, it was quiet but it was busier within an hour.

iorderedthe classic burger (with no lettuce, onions or cheese) with bacon (iorderedit medium well). the fries were good ... crispy and not greasy. the burger was good too. the bun was soft and the patty was tender and flavourful. i could really taste the bacon, which wasn't a bad thing.

travis was my server. he was friendly and chatty and took good care of me.

i love ayden - great atmosphere, lovely group of staff and wonderful food. however, during my last visit i was a little upset over the lack of food for the price i paid. i hadorderedthe chicken (smoked pineview farms chicken breast, bacon creamed kale, white bean fritters, chicken jus) - i read the menu, i knew what i was ordering. i'm 6 months pregnant, so i was looking forward to eating a big meal out (hello, eating for two here!!). when the food showed up, i looked down into the deep bowl in front of me to see 1 small chicken breast on a bed of peas (with some creamed kale and white bean fritters). "this can't be it" i said to myself - but indeed, it was true. no rice, no potato, no filler. sad face when the realization hit me i just paid $27 for chicken and peas. i will be back, but next time i'll order the burger.

i really wanted to love ayden's, i really did. we went here because it made the 100 best restaurant list in canada and was named one of two best restaurants in saskatchewan. but it just didn't meet our expectations. the servers were knowledgable and observant, but the food wasn't as good as we were expecting. my boyfriendorderedthe charcuterie platter to start and it was great, lots of different sausages and pickled vegetables. i wanted to order the beef short rib to start, but the waiter came back and reconfirmed my allergy to fish and said that the salad dressing had fish sauce on it. 5 out of the 6 starters had a fish ingredient in them, so i had to order the mushroom starter. the mushrooms were good, but the fried egg that came with it had nori on it and i am not a big fan of that and also it came with very crunchy crustinis, which hurt my mouth because they were so hard and i didn't really understand as to why they came with the dish at all. for mains my boyfriendorderedthe perogies which were super delicious. iorderedthe chicken schnitzel, which i was very excited about. the chicken was cooked perfectly, very moist, but the entire dish was drizzled with a heavy layer of dijon mustard mayo. i don't really like dijon and i assumed the sauce would be on the side, not drizzled over the entire entree. i got halfway through the main and i couldn't eat any more because the tip of my tongue was on fire and i just wasn't enjoying it. on to dessert, my boyfriendorderedthe trifle which was very delicious. fruity and creamy and crunchy. iorderedthe chocolate torte, which was not a torte in my opinion at all. it was more like a crumbly, dense piece of cake that tasted like burnt chocolate. the marshmallow and ice cream that came with it were delicious and i was grateful for those components of the dish because if it was eaten all together it was edible and alright, but i would never order it again. overall, i wouldn't go back here. we noticed a lot of peopleorderedeither the burger or steak, i guess those must be the go-to's. aydens really disappointed me in the food aspect.

i came here with an opened mined hoping for a decent meal & was pleasantly surprised the food was amazing & the service was equally as good. iorderedthe southern fried duck confit for $16 & the burger special, which was a burger made from the rib eye trimmings topped with bone marrow $16, the duck confit was amazing it was battered with oats to give it a nice crunchy & chewy mix & was served on an apple slaw with a spiced maple glaze & was very worth the money. the burger was also amazing burger was cooked a perfect medium & top it of with the marrow was fantastic with so much flavor  & so juicy. i had an amazing meal & cannot wait to return to saskatoon so i can come here again.

this restaurant needs to take a serious look at itself and either lower its prices or raise the quality of its food.
iorderedthe beef and was pretty disappointed. it was an incredibly fatty piece of meat and crazy salty and over seasoned. i could be happy with that had it been a $20 steak, but i expect a $40 steak to be near perfection. the twice baked potato that came with the beef was inoffensive, and the chocolate torte iorderedfor dessert was forgettable.
this meal was by no means inedible. it was fine. but when my bill comes to $70 without even ordering cocktails, i shouldn't be left longing for the food at the pub the next street over.

we had been to ayden before and had a great meal. tonight the meal was very underwhelming, not horrible just tolerable. i had the 10 oz rib eye. it was cooked the way iorderedit but the seasoning was not even across the cut of meat, resulting in a different taste with each bite.

when you are paying a premium price you expect a premium meal every time.

ok, so i wanted to impress an out of town "foodie" and it kinda backfired here on me!
first off the service was very good!
we started off with the chicken wings appetizer which gave us 8 wings for $13.00, they were tasty if not a tad over salty but cooked perfectly i must say.
for the main course my out of town guest was hungry so heorderedthe sirloin steak plate for $40.00 and iorderedthe evening special ($28.00) which was braised short ribs in a somewhat creamy sauce.
my friend is a bbq master so this place wasn't going to "pull the wool over his eyes" so to speak and sure enough heorderedthe steak "med rare".
well it came to our table, very well presented but the outer portion of the steak was actually "med well", and the middle portion cooked as ordered..kinda a rookie mistake in his books and he let our server know just so the chef that cooked the steak will correct his method of grilling for the evening.
the chef was informed by our server what was told to her and he came over to attentively find out the problem. he was shown the mistake and agreed that it could have been better cooked. i tried the pieces that were trimmed off by my friend and have to agree it was almost like "beef jerky" in texture.
because of this my friend received a free dessert, which was a nice gesture on their part.
my meal was apperantly the last available special of the night as after i hadorderedit, the server returned to say that it had been sold out. but as i was re-browsing the menu another server came over to say they had enough for one more go.
the plate came with about six medallions of beef short rib minus the bone, a small salad of greens and a serving of really good french fries.
the short rib meat was a little on the dry side and chewy even though it was cooked to a "med" finish.
the sauce that was on a portion of the serving was sorta bland too.
all in all for the price, i have to say again i could have been just as satisfied if we had gone to the keg.
i feel i need to be critical of this experience because i felt the meal didn't live up to the hype and my friend was not impressed at all!

i had gone to ayden kitchen and bar for my anniversary dinner as i was told it is run by canada's top chef. there's an open kitchen and it was busy with lots of diners. i hadorderedfish which was par excellence. ambiance and interiors are modern and minimalistic. presentation, sauces and accompaniments were perfect and unique. the flavors came together perfectly to create a unique and scrumptious taste. my husbandorderedbeef which was also very good. perhaps due to the large number of diners that evening, service was a little slow. also, it would be nice for the restaurant to have valet service or parking slots as parking is an issue. on the whole, it was a nice experience!

tried this restaurant for the first time over the weekend and it was good. nothing extraordinary but it was still good. for no one really being there when we got to the restaurant for our reservation at 6:15 it took about 10 minutes before our server greeted us and to get water and drink order. which isn't a huge deal. we bothorderedthe beef and the saskatoon berry cocktail feature. we also got the popcorn shrimp started which was my favourite out of everything. i expected more and in my opinion it kind of fell short.

honestly one of the best meals i've had in a while! not only did it have a relaxed open concept atmosphere, but the cocktails were phenomenal and the food was just as excellent! we started slow with some drinks and 3 starters: the venison tartare, sausage platter, and a special (a pasta dish) all of which were very good! iorderedthe duck as a main, and my husband had the beef - the beef was good, standard steak meal, and the duck was a wonderful balance of richness with the hollondaise sauce and acidity with a sort of napa cabbage salad underneath.

i'm actually dying to purchase all of their glassware! for cocktails my favourite was the one that was lavender infused and topped with cinnamon.

honestly were usually a little picky with our meals since we've lived in toronto, and this was one of the best places we've dined at! hoping to one day return to saskatoon just to come back here!

we've had lunch at ayden once before. we left a little disappointed in our charcuterie board and entrees, but after receiving a gift card we decided to give it another shot. iorderedthe "hotdog sammie", which came with caesar salad and fries. the "hotdog" was a shiny looking sausage that was completely raw on the inside. like mushy, fell apart when i cut it, totally red, raw. the avocado slices were brown and mushy, and the entire thing was drenched in sriacha. so disappointing. i've had better hotdogs from 7/11. the caesar salad was so drenched in lemon juice and crappy dressing that it was barely edible. the croutons were stale (who knew that was even possible), and the lettuce was so wilted that it had no crisp whatsoever. the fries were fine, but they could've been from a&w and i wouldn't have noticed the difference. my boyfriendorderedthe burger, and the server suggested getting it cooked medium. the burger itself was fine, but it was nowhere near medium. it was completely raw on the inside, with obvious blood all over the place. the chamomile, lavendar, pineapple soda iorderedwas delicious! best part of the meal hands down! frankly i think they should shut down the restaurant entirely and open a soda business. if i had went in for just a drink, i would've left satisfied. but the food was so below sub par that we will never be returning. incredibly disappointing.

probably the worst restaurant i've been in a whileorderedscallop and chicken. scallops well there was 4 small quarter size ones on a plate that was about $17 like really wth. chicken was good but for $27 one drum and half a thigh very unimpressed. i had to eat something else to fill me up when i got home. everything is over priced. father in law got the wrong order brought to him and by the time he got what he acuallyorderedeveryone was done their meal and no apologies or reducing price of a small 40$ steak. and to pay 18% on top everything was rediculous. it was not an impressive meal or a filling meal to leave with a $198 bill. rediculous never recommend this place

my wife and i celebrated her birthday here. reservation was quick and easy. we were seated fairly quickly and the server was very friendly. when we got our food, one of the chefs actually took the time to describe what weorderedand was also pleasant. the ahi tuna appetizer was heavenly! oh my god it tasted so beautiful! too bad there were only about 8 or maybe 10 tiny chunks. the steak wasn't the best in town but it was also mouth-watering. my wife got the pasta and it was also good. the dessert i had tasted very organic and it was a pleasant surprise. for what i paid i think the food should be better or more. around $130 including tip for the great service and good food. it was good but the main reason i'd go back is the friendly and attentive service.
