aunt carrie's restaurant

for great new england clam chowder, ri clam chowder, clam cakes andfriedclams, aunt carrie's is for you.

there can be a wait, but the good is very much worth it.

sat 7/12: short wait for dining room. waiter (young man) was excellent - attentive & quick!!!
sorry, very disappointed in food; perhaps worst i've had in 50 years of seafood!!!!
* my wife and i didn't like thefriedclams (whole). i'm not a cook but i'm guessing they werefriedin old oil, andfriedtoo long.
* cole slaw served with my plate was simple chopped stuff and plain????. it needed som...ething else.
* steam clams were good. steam clam broth was great for sipping - skip the butter dipping and leave sand at bottom of cup.
* my wife liked the "clam fritters" (they are not "clam cakes) but i didn't. i expected more of a clam taste? than bread.
* my wife liked the scollups but, for me, they had some unnatural (cooked?) flavoring.
* french fries, and cinnamon bread were good.
..... oh and.. the ice cream across the street was good ..... but they need an outside faucet to wash up with afterwards.
it was my first time there. i'll try some other place next time, thank you...

place looked charming, classic new england family restaurant. we were all really disappointed with the food and service. tables around us were left dirty the whole time we were there for lunch.friedclams were over cooked and oily, calamari was very undercooked and the white chowder was awful , not a single clam in the whole cup, seriously! the hamburger was soo greasy we had to unstack it and blot it on a paper towel.disappointing

the clam cakes are extremely overrated. the food was average, myfried$15 jumbo shrimp was chewy. everything else seemed a little lacking. it'll taste the same in montana.

great chowder, clam cakes are loaded with clams,friedwhole clams excellent too awesome as always.
