so many wonderful things to choose from on thismenuthat we need to come back at least 6 more times! today was breakfast...we split the huge buttermilk pancake and got breakfast burrito loaded with black beans and veggies and cheese and also a chorizo omelet. all were fantastic!
great service! huge place..so it can handle a crowd!

with itsmenufocused on local and sustainable ingredients, plethora of vegetarian and vegan options, and roomy booths made from salvaged lumber, at sara’s table chester creek cafe has a laid-back, earthy vibe that made this mostly-vegetarian feel right at home.  the breakfastmenufeatures mostly classic american fare, with omelets, pancakes, french toast, and a few sandwiches, while the eclectic lunch and dinnermenuincludes falafel, thai curry, and fish tacos along with lake superior white fish and burgers. 

oh goodness, where to begin. i was so excited to try this place, i had heard they had great food. so my husband and i figured we would try it out. wow, it was the worst service we had ever had. you walk in the door and have a choice to go to the right or left which if you have never been there before is very confusing. then when you enter, there is no host, so you stand awkwardly at the front for a few moments and decide to take a seat. meanwhile you pass by quite a few staff members who all see you but don't greet you. once you sit, it is what seems forever before anyone comes to bring you amenuand another forever for a beverage. once you get your beverage, your server runs away again, and you wait yet another eternity for your order to be taken. i was so disappointed the first time i went, but i decided it could have just been a bad day or a bad server, so i wanted to give it two more tries. each time the same story. i just can't bring myself to go back there to pay $20 per person and not have someone take good care us. sad day!

overpriced and understaffed?. my fiance and i went to sara's table because of all the great reviews we read. never again. we cam in, said "hi" to a waiter and then sat down. normally in a restaurant/cafe/what-have-you a waiter comes and asks you want you want. not here. you might as well be invisible. sure, its great that they have books and games and such for you to enjoy. it is a beautiful layout, but it seems that you get lost in all the clutter.

food wise i wouldn't pay a dime towards their prices. they want to charge you over 14 dollars for some wild rice and a couple of pieces of bread. the prices on the rest of themenuwere so ridiculous! between no service for over 10 minutes (we were the only ones in the restaurant! now we know why!) and the prices i will not be returning anytime soon. i hope in the future that things change, but until then no.

beautiful view of lake superior. the restaurant is to the right when you walk in and the bar is the left. grab amenuas you walk to your selected table. although the windows are slightly too high for a good view of the lake, choose a table near the back windows. my blt on ciabatta bread was good -- lots of mayo and juicy tomatoes. i opted for sliced fruit instead of fries; it turned out to be the better choice because my dinner companion said the fries were too salty.
the place is known for its baked goods and we weren't disappointed with the rhubarb pie -- a very flaky crust and a tart rhubarb filling.
live entertainment was just starting on the deck as we left.

is there a better local restaurant in duluth?. come in, feel at home. grab a game, grab a book, grab a cup of coffee. your friendly, easy-going server will be with you shortly.

they have a relaxed atmosphere. the service is pleasant, but a bit unhurried. the food is fantastic - fresh ingredients grown locally put together in creative ways. don't like the look of themenutoday? wait 'til next weekend - they'll do a special theme and change the dinnermenuentirely when a new crop is in season.

summary: great ambience (perfect for families and friends), decent service, great food, reasonable prices.
