i visited asado with a colleague during a business trip. after our main waiter explained the menu and the time we had to expect for the mains, we ordered a few tapas, 2 small plates, 1 main and a side dish.
the first tapas were two tiny pieces of bread with blue cheese and jamon. the flavours were there but the portion size was pathetic.
this was following by the salted cod croquettes (which were okay but tasted a bit too oily) and a wonderful ox tongue: tender, juicy andgreataromas.
the small plates were the chorico which had a very nice and intense flavour and the morcilla which was lacking that flavour.
the main was the hanger steak which was wonderful: nice, thick, juicy, greataromas, and half rare accompanied by a slop of melted cheese in which most likely a bit of cabbage and bacon was hidden. sorry but the side dish was a huge disappointment.
all courses (tapas, small plates and main with side dish) had their highlights (tongue, chorico, hanger steak) but also their lows (blue cheese bread, morcilla, burnt cabbage), so all in all it was okay.
the service was nice: the main waiter was a bit too sales minded, the young lady who served the tapas and the small plates a bit to disengaged but the guy who brought the main was nice and attentive and finally fixed the wobbly table.
