oh, how i missed antonio’s! the food and ambience has definitely lived up to the years that it has been up and running. until today, it is still one of the most sought after restaurants of tagaytay because of the ambience, service, and of course, the food. steak has always been great as well as the lamb. escargots good, as well as the salad. lentil soup tastes weirdly good. dark chocolate souffle is perfect. i also love their jasmine ice cream. i really have nothing bad to say, because each time i visit, they deliver.

elegant location that feels private and special. dishes are what you expect from a fancy restaurant, rich everything (condensed/reduced sauces), with great technique and cooking styles, and great service to complement. with its popularity you do pay more than what it should, but that just adds to its specialness of the visit/occasion if you’re celebrating.

the value of the food doesn’t match their prices. i’ve been here a couple of times and not once was i really wowed by it. it’s not terrible, and the food is actually quite good, but for the prices they charge, it’s definitely not worth traveling to. the venue is nice but it’s not mind blowing either.

since @eatsmorefun was in town, we decided to head to antonio’s one weekday (avoiding the traffic) for some good food and wine. more on our experience in the link below.

we entered the elegant dining room only to be greeted by a 2 year old throwing a tantrum two tables down from us.  this continued off and on throughout the meal. parents did nothing, leaving it to the nanny to quiet the kid down. we asked to be moved to the patio and the maitre d' just stood there with a stupid grin on his face and actually told us he could nothing about the situation!!!  like saying, "sorry, you have to endure it. anyway the people will leave soon."  basically, in such an elegant restaurant they should not allow babies and toddlers.  to add to this sorry situation, the lady sitting next to us pulls out her cell phone and yaks  while her son talked with a loud voice over his mother's conversation with his girlfriend.  so much for a quiet, elegant lunch at antonio’s!

also, there was no adherence to the dress code requested by antonio's.  the baby's parents were dressed in shorts,t-shirts, and slippers just like in a mall food court.  in general the staff was better dressed than their customers!

basically, the staff is not trained to handle such a mess and stood by helplessly.  this includes the maitre d'.  after the baby and family left, the staff approached us and asked if we would like to take our dessert outside!!!  too little too late!

we moved out to the patio to take our dessert and as usual it was pleasant and elegant until a gentleman arrived with his cigarette sat down on a bench next to us and blew all his smoke over our table!

again, the staff did nothing but say, "i'm sorry."

if this kind of behaviour is condoned by the management, regular paying customers such as us will flee.  better to eat at home than to put up with this behaviour.

the staff needs to be re-trained to handle the inappropriate behaviour of the guests or this elegant restaurant will gradually slip into mall food court status.

great ambiance and the tastiest salmon i have ever had.though a little out of the way...as i live in manila...a 4 hour ride in the car for a 2 hour lunch was totally worth the effort.a piece of advice ...do make a reservation before hand as the place ia usually full.

this is my second time in antonio's. it didn't top my first visit but still good nonetheless.
upon coming in, we were directed to our table which was located near a big group. i already foresaw that it will be noisy but still tried to check my instinct. well after just a few minutes, the group was already laughing loudly so i asked to be moved. i was sort of disappointed that the staff didn't think of this earlier and seated us (i was with my wife) at a much quieter area.
onto the food, i ordered the grilled short ribs, my wife the duck confit. they gave free bread with olives (always a plus). for the salad, it was with raspberry dressing and bleu cheese (just okay for antonio's standards). the soup, vegetable chowder, was a little bland for me. the ribs itself was nothing exceptional, but the other side dishes that came with it elevated the dish. it had cinnamon glazed orange and apple for the citrus flavor. and there was fried onion strips for the salty taste. finally, there was the panna cotta for dessert. best one i've ever had and i don't usually like them. it had the richness and vanilla flavor that i didn't expect. the fruit jellies help to add extra flavor. my wife's souffle she said was underbaked.

had the chance to dine at antonio's last sunday to celebrate my boyfriend and i's 6th anniversary. it was my second time to be there - the first time was like 3 years ago. i was able to try their steak back then and ever since it has always been the best for me.

so last sunday, we decided to try different entrees and they did not disappoint as well. the roasted lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection. the sauce was thick and sweet because of the caramel and the prunes. i thought everything went great together. the meat was so tender you'll not have a hard time chewing and slicing. suggested doneness was medium.

meanwhile, he got the roasted duck breast which goes with a generous serving of seared foie gras. this entree comes with their mashed potato (which we both really love - this too has always been the best for us), braised red cabbage and mixed berries.

oh for the appetizer, we got the salted cod al pilpil. it might come as too salty for others but for us, we liked it so much!

btw, all entrees come with their organic green salads, soup of the day, dessert and coffee/tea.

soup of the day was prawn bisque. it was kind of thick and tasted so much like prawn heads which i really liked.

for the dessert, we got the creme fraiche panna cotta, which they said is one of the suggested desserts, and the white chocolate souffle. the panna cotta's consistency was amazing. there was a perfect balance between the gelatin and the creme.

we had an amazing time celebrating our anniversary at antonio’s! hoping to visit the place again soon!! 🤗

we chose to dine at antonio's for our couple's anniversary. right off the bat, we were welcomed into a driveway that revealed a modest-sized manor. instantly, i figured that the experience would be a warm and hospitable one, as if visiting a gracious host's house.

now, i would like to get this out of the way before anything else, as this was sort of a pet peeve with any other restaurant who does this. i am to admit that this was my first time at antonio's and like a lamb left unattended in the fields, we were there to enjoy the evening and run with it, i.e., whatever was to be found on the menu. that also meant we were quite agreeable to suggestions. while the menu was pricey, it was a trivial matter since we were there ready to spend anyway. after a brief orientation from a server, we explored the menu, during which we were suggested to have some "house juice", i.e. some special dalandan juice with exquisite pulp frozen in the ice cubes. we said yes to that, but eventually when the bill got to us, it was then that we realized how naive it was for us to expect the item to be free or at least priced sensibly to our expectations. i mean, it was for a pitcher of native lime juice after all. so for anyone planning to dine, beware of suggestions and make sure you're ordering what you expect to pay for. the pitcher of juice was about $20 by the way 800 to 1000 php from what i recall. that's all i'm saying.

on to the experience; i would say that the service was superb. all servers were trained to know how the dishes are cooked and prepared. they were attentive, at least when they were looking at our table's direction, as it seemed that there were a lot of shuffling and movement for servers on the floor. they kept tabs on the progress of our dining to know if it was time to serve the next part of the course. they would pleasantly ask how the food was, eager for feedback as it was probably for protocols' sake as well.

we had a soufflé for our appetizer, the gruyere and portobello soufflé. it was an excellent start as it had that "meaty" taste and texture simulated by the mushrooms and of course the thick cheese that made it all the more tasty.

as we had ordered an entree designed to be served as a course, we were served a house salad next. it was all right, although i had dreaded they would put arugula in it as the menu seemed to show that they had a penchant for serving arugula in their ala carte salads; i was right. and so i ate less those leaves, as there was no love lost.

there was some soup, too, but regrettably forgettable.

we ordered the grilled dry aged angus prime rib eye steak for our entree and i can absolutely say that this was an excellent dish. in fact, once we began eating, i found it hard to recall the last best steak i had; and trying to remember now, it's maybe a bit better if not as good as the steak from the timed-buffet we had in rokkasen in tokyo, japan. tender, tasty, and juicy, the flavors were enhanced with how they pre-prepared the beef. no condiments were needed, but they had 6 beside the platter just in case. it had horse radish, chili, mustard, a special sauce, salt, and garlic cloves.

as for the desserts, the course meal allowed us to choose whatever we wanted and so we ordered the dark chocolate soufflé and paired it with a scoop of amadeo coffee ice cream. the combination was definitely meant to be.

the venue's ambience was tranquil and the pace was calm. no one was rushing anyone and the word i would use to describe the atmosphere is "pleasant". the seats were comfortable and the table size was appropriately generous. the washrooms were decorated and maintained well and every other customer seemed to genuinely have a very good time. antonio's is a must-experience restaurant.

ordered the mayura tomahawk steak. really enjoyed it. i am originally from monaco and the place reminds me of one of the best fine dining restaurants by alain ducasse back home. love the over all ambiance and the quality and the look of the food. the staff were also very accommodating and friendly. well done.
