too bright. i love thefoodat anthony's homeport. it was so bright it hurt our eyes-the brilliant sun. at the restaurant in ballard they have filtering shades that still allow the sun to come in but does not allow the sun to hurt your eyes. i live on the eastside but i will drive to ballard for my meals at anthony's.

love the view, and service, from the restaurant, but thefoodis inconsistent. had the halibut, which was under seasoned, and over cooked. the mashed potatoes served with the halibut were gummy with lumps of potatoe, and green beans were not cooked. the blue cheese salad, with shrimp, was excellent. at $38 for the halibut, i give it 1 star, and the service 5 star.

after having dined here more than 40-50 times in the past decade, i can honestly say that at least a third of those experiences were glaringly sub par...and fifteen bad meals here for an average of 4 people per visit means that thousands of dollars were unnecessarily wasted. moreover, almost all of these ruined meals could have been so easily avoided had management been even moderately vigilant.

here are some examples: #1 several times we have visited when the restaurant was at less than 33% occupancy with tons of seating options, and the hostess sat us down right next to people with infants/young children...who inevitably started crying. in point of fact, in 2009, they did this to us when the only two parties at the place were us and a family with a baby! my friends felt incredibly guilty when we cast shame on that family by asking to be moved away from them...its not like it was their fault. that, in my opinion was inexcusable. #2 i often order the fish and chips, and anyone who knows about this dish understands that it must be served hot and crispy as opposed to letting it sit until luke warm and soggy. yet at least 50% of the time, i get it after it has sat a long time...several times i have actually had to hunt my waitress down to inform her that my fish is sitting and getting cold in plain sight on the counter. #3 there are many instances of poor hygiene. like a previous reviewer has stated, i have seen at the gentleman pouring water at tables with his fingers touching the rim of the glass time and time again, not only for us but for neighboring tables. several times i have even had them pick up my empty water glass with their finger all the way inside my glass in order to move it to my place setting when seating our party! this is inexcusable...even mcdonalds workers know not to do this. also, i have had waiters drag their sleeve over myfoodwhen reaching across the table. and one time when i asked for a straw the waiter handed it to me with his bare hand....if they are going to do this, why on earth don't they provide wrapped straws? #4 i get really bothered when i order a beer, and i see the bartender pour it right away, and then the waitress lets it sit for ten or so minutes until it is semi flat. this happens every single visit....without fail.

have eaten at anthony's home port for the last 15 years. over the last 3 years the restaurant has continually declined in its service and the quality of the food. example: dined there this week. the tab: $100.00+ for two with wine. service was terrible. thefoodarrived almost cold and the potatoes were not cooked through. as a matter of fact one of the other staff people delivered thefoodfor our server. my wife'sfoodwas over breaded and over salted. later that night we both suffered indigestion and heart burn ( not the nice type) from the food. it is always a sad time when a really, really good restaurant slips into a down turn. the anthony's in kirkland is a mess and we consider our meal at $100.00 + a real con to say nothing about the indigestion. john "afoodcritic with a heart."

thefoodwas fantastic and so was the service. i'm not a huge cooked salmon fan, but the silver salmon was one of the best fish dishes i've ever had. the chowder was very good too.

nice place to take visitors for seafood.... we took the in-laws here for dinner, and it was just their speed. beautiful view, outstanding service, and an accessible menu. i thought thefoodhad some hits and misses. high points: their clam chowder and a grilled swordfish entree that came with some kind of cranberry relish and a side of perfectly-cooked green beans. low points: the "tower" appetizer, which was okay, but overpriced imo. also, the king salmon entree was overcooked and under-sauced, not horribly so, but in that price range it should have been perfect. all in all, i would go back, especially if bringing out-of-town guests.

greatfoodand excellent service. it's a little pricey, but for the price you get great food. expect to spend about 60 dollars+ for a couple with drinks.

nicefoodgreat view. the early reviews do not seem indicative of its current performance. we had the tower appetizer and it was great. followed up with the evening special of a mixed grilled of salmon and halibut. both were cooked perfectly. i had a long pour of wine by a very good waiter. topped off with a rich molten chocolate cake. of course the sunset was awesome.

overpriced, overcooked and too greasy. way overpriced. beautiful view but there are better options close by, including a picnic at any of the close by waterfront parks. thefoodis consistently overcooked. it seems to be a surplus of salt in the kitchen and that combined with thefoodsoaked in oil makes for an unpleasant experience. i gave it a try three times between may and jul 2009. always for dinner, the place was half empty each time, yet service was below average andfoodway below average.

this is harder to rate. i went there twice. first time greatfoodwas superb, great portions it was nice. kid friendly and romantic or fancy which ever is prefered. second time i went i was let down. service was slow and two rounds were missing. the portions were much smaller andfoodseemed slightly old. not sure which is more romising.
