too bright. i love the food atanthony'shomeport. it was so bright it hurt our eyes-the brilliant sun. at the restaurant in ballard they have filtering shades that still allow the sun to come in but does not allow the sun to hurt your eyes. i live on the eastside but i will drive to ballard for my meals at anthony's.

have eaten atanthony'shome port for the last 15 years. over the last 3 years the restaurant has continually declined in its service and the quality of the food. example: dined there this week. the tab: $100.00+ for two with wine. service was terrible. the food arrived almost cold and the potatoes were not cooked through. as a matter of fact one of the other staff people delivered the food for our server. my wife's food was over breaded and over salted. later that night we both suffered indigestion and heart burn ( not the nice type) from the food. it is always a sad time when a really, really good restaurant slips into a down turn. theanthony'sin kirkland is a mess and we consider our meal at $100.00 + a real con to say nothing about the indigestion. john "a food critic with a heart."

a racket restaurant. if you want a nice seafood dinner on the water in gigharbor, make a tuna sandwich at home and then walk the wharf.anthony'sis the place for a mediocre meal with amateur service . except for the warm, crusty bread and sky high prices, the meal would be perfectly forgettable. we were not demanding, had no special requests, did not complain and the restaurant was not crowded. no excuses except premeditated con ... and we fell for it! enjoy the views without ananthony'smenu!!!

so, i'm just going to start with dessert.anthony'sis the same as always. fish, fish, fish, served a million ways. to be honestanthony'sis the place for so many proms, amateur night, first dates, and tourists, i'm not interested. ok, back up... memories are made at anthony's. a place where friends meet and a place that most people in the northwest remember on one occasion or another. i don't really remember what i ordered...ahi tuna, i think. good, but sharing the wild mountain blackberry cobbler with my husband...priceless.

amazing view, consistent food. from the outside, anthony'sin kirkland looks like it could be an office building (and it does house a microsoft office i think), but go inside and the waterfront view is top-notch. i had the sockeye and it was perfectly done and we had crab cakes at the table that were tasty, nice classic cocktails too. all in all, it was exactly what i thought it'd be - consistently good and amazing view.

terrible service/average food. this last sunday was my mother's 59th birthday, and we decided, despite the economy, to make it a nice evening out for her. you see, my father is currently being treated for cancer, with my mother acting as his faithful nurse, so we all felt she deserved a special night out. our family has dined atanthony'smany times over the past 25 or so years, so the restaurant was not "new" to us. we had made a reservation for 6pm and, despite a virtually empty restaurant, we were asked to wait in the lobby for almost 10 minutes before we were seated. our party consisted of 6 adults, 2 children, and a toddler. once we were seated at our table, it was 10-15 minutes before our waitress came to ask what we would like to drink. she was unfriendly and disinterested... it took everything she had to squeak out a "you're welcome" in response to the "thank you"s we readily said. our food was ok, although the salads were very soggy, but our greatest disappointment came fromanthony'sdiscontinuation of their sourdough bread bowls, which have been replaced with a cheaper loaf. the wine glasses were filled less than halfway full (at over $6 per glass!), and we were never once offered a refill of our drinks by our waitress.anthony'shas apparently also discontinued it's policy of offering free desserts to customers having birthdays, anniversaries, etc... which our waitress gave the "shocked" answer about when we asked her, saying she had never seen that "once in the years she'd been working there!" i informed her i was a former employee, and that i knew otherwise... the waitress then, because the bill was coming out and she knew she had offended, brought my 59 year old mother out a child's sundae (with a forced smile), in an attempt to gain our favor. but we all saw what her actions were, a desperate attempt to squeeze a decent tip out of a large party she had greatly disappointed. our family has decided to skipanthony'sfrom now on... don't bother!!!

greasy. i visitedanthony'sin kirkland with my girlfriend and a friend of our's on a friday night, around 8.30. the service, while friendly enough, was tragically slow, and we hadn't even received our entree until 10pm, instead being plied with bread and anemic cocktails.

we had a dozen oysters which weren't terribly exciting, followed by three of the daily specials accompanied by salads all round.

i had sturgeon with basmati rice, and it was drenched in butter; i had been hoping for a light dish for it was extremely hot outside, but instead i just had a limp piece of fish swimming in butter with some fried rice.

my girlfriend had some shrimp related, which again was completely dripping in butter, and our friend had halibut cakes which, shockingly, were covered in butter. the whole dinner had a distinctly unhealthy vibe, and i wondered if our dishes had actually been left sitting in a corner forgotten for a while, and to warm them up again to serve us they poured steaming butter over them all.

the majority of the clientele were older couples, and i definitely got the vibe that the place was catering towards them. if you're looking for a hip place to go and get some healthy interesting dinner in kirkland, stay away fromanthony'shomeport.
