special place!. very cosy and warm little restaurant with an amazing feel about the place. the staff are extremely friendly and enjoy sharing their knowledge about the menu. we enjoyed the lentils on croutons, grilled quail, fried aubergine, chargrilled zucchini salad, king prawns and the flathead. all of the food was exceptional especially the flathead and the quail. would definitely recommend to others, is one of our favourite restaurants in melbourne.

what a "fabuloso" place. small and cosy, soft lighting. been meaning to come here since last year, finally did it. our plan was to come in and go for the cheap tapas and grab a glass of wine. we pretty much ended up ordering most of the dishes off the tapas menu and one off the charcuterie!
we started of with the olives and joselito jamon, which was soft and a fresh way to kick things off. the domino effect started off here, where we ordered the oyster dish which was presented on a hot clay dish still bubbling in the creamy harissa and shallot sauce and with a lemon to squeeze over- unbelievable. the mushroom and manchego cheese croquets then came out which was equally as delicious. they were finished in about a second. we succumbed to ordering the paella dish withy black rice and seafood, which took 30 mins to cook.
while we waited the harvey bay scallop dish was scoffed before i could try it. the feedback was pretty good with that one. we also tried the crispy eggplant with honey and sherry vinaigrette was outstanding. the flavours of all these dishes were astounding, yet not overly rich.
when the arroz negro paella came out, it was the icing on the cake. the black rice was something different i hadn't seen from the usual paellas i've eaten. although it looks it, the paella wasn't too heavy. the seafood was cooked to perfection and very fresh. i love squeezing lemon over my food, so i found the taste of the lemon over everything highly satisfying. we struggled to finish the whole paella amongst three people, so it's a decent serving- value for money. we probably could have skipped two tapas dishes, but our decisions were clouded with the constant flow of their delicious plic plic and pinot reds that we downed over the four hour event.
we capped things off with the dessert platter, which once again exceeded our expectations. the crème brille was cooked to perfection, which passed my spoon tap test on the top of it and then silky throughout when my spoon went through the dessert.

$215 was then divided amongst three people, good value for many different dishes, well worth it.

thanks to our handsome spanish and very accommodating waiter who took care of us for the whole duration and thanks for rolling us out the door. fitzroy you've done it again.

it's funny, the two reviewers before me clearly have no idea, either any idea what this style of food is meant to be like or how it's meant to be served. so for that, anyone reading these should throw some salt on them as a fair or unfair criteria.

our experience tonight started poorly but ended with a wonderful feeling.

when you go out for dinner you go out for the company you have, to experience something new, enjoy food and learn something. if you don't, well you should stay home

our booking was accidentally cancelled and we sat at a bar to eat. i hate doing that but it was what it was. no use complaining, at least we could still eat.

ever heard of human error? oh that's right, the majority of urbanspoon reviewers are all perfect at the jobs they perform, i forget...

we were dealt with rather abruptly but it was pumping in there so we couldn't expect any less than that, to be fair.

from that point on our service, food and experience was sensational, food was exactly what it was meant to be but better than it tasted and whilst we preferred some meals over others, that hardly warrants a dislike tag or review.

we left full, well ordered and watered, happy, and content. we chose well and had a great night with great company.

maybe negative reviewers didn't like their friends, chose badly or just think the world should be perfect like they are. reality people, it ain't and neither are you.

thanks anada, we will be back and we are glad some people won't be there when we do so it's more enjoyable ;)

we went in last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had the chefs tasting (one vegetarian) and matching wines, finishing with dessert and reserve pedro ximenez. everything was tasty and delicious - highlights being the oysters, fish and lamb belly. service was fantastic - special mention to liza for looking after us.

came here on a monday night and it's still packed! ordered the tasting menu for both of us and for $56 each for 5 courses. have to say it's well priced. liked the scallop very much but most other dishes i didn't really enjoy because of the fishy smell especially the barramundi and oysters. got a feeling is because of the freshness 😥service is very good. unfortunately had to rate a lower than standard score, might because of the freshness of ingredients, might visit and try again.

this place has been on my "to eat" list for awhile and i'm glad we made it finally. so many appetising options on the menu, so little room in the stomach.

everything we ordered was a taste sensation in its own right. i never knew i could enjoy chilled sweet corn soup so much, while the spinach and manchego croqueta was to be savoured and the squid ink paella was amazing.

attentive staff throughout the visit and the place has a romantic but lively atmosphere. such a great place to enjoy tapas and the extensive wine list - definitely recommend this one.

at one of the casual pharmacy stints that i have worked at, i stumbled upon a fellow foodie who recommended this restaurant to me. curiousity got the better of me and it did not take long before we made our way here. service was top notch in every aspect and ambience wise, i found it soothing and easy to communicate with my partner at the table.

this place used to be one of our favorites. we'd come here a few times a year but seems the quality has dropped the last couples of times we went there. the seafood paella is very oily and not very flavoursome, neither was the heirloom tomato salad. we've given it a couple of go's too see if it was just their off night but seems the quality has dropped for good. don't think we'll return.

i have been coming to anada for many years. this week took my clients and decided to go the feed me option for the 5 of us.
the dishes were good, however the portions were too small to feed the 5 people.
sorry guys won’t be back.

for the price they charge for food, the least they can do is upgrade their furniture and have chairs with backs. this may be a popular place for meat eaters, but not many options for vegetarians/vegan and the food is bland. definitely not worth the return.

pure class here. it’s a gorgeous place. the restaurant looked magical spotted from the street on a welcome balmy melbourne evening. inside was wonderful too and much enhanced by a wobderful sound system. the initial service was superb. it’s not easy to beat being served by a good looking foreigner with a lovely smiling manner and an encyclopedic knowledge of the menu and wine list. so, we were near sold before we’d had anything to eat or drink.

thankfully, we adored our meal from start to finish. it started with excellent sourdough, top quality olive oil and fantastic peppery dukka. we then had a succession of marvellous small dishes. mushroom croquettes, deep fried mussels, harvey bay scallops (quote from our seafood obsessed friend “those scallops are the best ever anywhere”) and stuffed peppers. we couldn’t fault any of these wonderful dishes. they were exceptional. we concluded with a magnificent seafood paella which was replete with seafood and flavour. i’ve only tasted one better. it was superb.

our wine tonight was a white tempranillo. we’d never had anything like it. it’s a beauty. we concluded with a lovely douro ruby port and a muscadelle. both were wonderful.

this is a very very good restaurant. no wonder it is so highly rated. highly recommended
