anada lovely restaurant!. have eaten here twice, once with my parents and brother, another on a very lovely date. both experiences great, dishes on the most part delicious but small and pricey, so expect to part with at least $50 to be moderately full - eep. the place has a quaint atmosphere typical of the getrude street area. i have since found out thatanadaand the aylesbury (cbd) have the same owner, and can see why, as both restaurants have the x-factor.

great (but a bit slow) service. but. we had to have the chefs menu as there were eight of us and for $65 we got per person:- 1 oyster. 1 scallop. 2 slices of jamon . a small amount of bread. a shot glass of soup. 1 lamb cutlet. a small piece of chicken. and a few chickpeas. all of which was nice enough but not amazing.

we even asked for patatas bravas to help fill us up. no auch luck...

dessert was not included and we were pretty hungry at then end of the meal , so paid extra for dessert

i used to loveanadaand my disappointment was huge.

( our vegetarian friend started off with one pepper. small, and unstuffed. just one pepper on a plate (what the?)

anada. lift your game.

i have been coming toanadafor many years. this week took my clients and decided to go the feed me option for the 5 of us.
the dishes were good, however the portions were too small to feed the 5 people.
sorry guys won’t be back.

a tradition has started for us where i would take mumsy and daddy bear out to try a different cuisine for their anniversary or even just a night out. they’ve never tried spanish food so i decided to check outanadain fitzroy. we made a reservation online and we were seated at the table by the front door.

this place seems to have a decent following and it’s on the golden mile of gertrude street with a cute but pokey interior. we started with croquettes which were nice enough but perhaps needed a little more seasoning. the bone marrow with ox tongue was our favourite dish, oozing flavour and deliciousness - would have happily had a second serving. next we had the whole flounder with the charred cos lettuce salad. the fish was nice enough but the salad was a bit of a let down. i found the goats cheese purée a little tart and the lettuce did nothing for me. overall, a good meal, but nothing spectacular. trying to get bread (to mop up sauces and bone marrow), was a little difficult and it was as though it was being rationed. also, we were seated at the table between the end of the bar and the front part - my chair got knocked or i got flicked by the staffs apron each time they zipped through - that doesn’t enhance the dining experience. the final gripe was that the white napkins left white fluff all over our laps and shirts - they need a new laundromat service. when paying, the pleasant enough waitress asked if we had enjoyed the meal and we said something along the lines of “good but not amazing.” we eat at the original movida regularly enough and i guess we compare all our melbourne spanish meals to them. the waitress scoffed that movida has two hats soanadacouldn’t possibly be compared to them. movida consistently costs us approx 20-30% less than anada’s meal and we always leave much more full and contented. needless to say, we grabbed dessert elsewhere. we will stick to movida next time. this wasn’t a terrible experience but it was far from amazing.

let's start off with the excellent hospitality here. there is great service, and then there is extraordinary service.anadafalls under the latter. when our waitress saw me scraping the bits of rice stuck on the bottom of the paella pan, she came over and took over the job of scraping from me. she was friendly, approachable, helpful and very observant.

just like the service, the food was flawless. the smoked duck heart had incredible depth of flavours and the most perfect chewy yet firm texture. the bone marrow was the stuff that sweet dreams are made of - rich, buttery, savoury and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. the venison was succulent and full of meaty flavour. each and every dish just kept the foodgasm coming.

even the desserts that sounded plain on paper turned out to be wonderful explosion of flavours. the sangria was also a hit with our taste buds - fruity, slightly sweet and strong.

while i did have a few great meals recently, but when compared to my experience at anada, anadablows everything else out of the water. if i could give a rating of more than 5, there's no doubt i would.

after a holiday in spain earlier in the year, i just needed to a taste of spain again, andanadadid not let down. simple, delicious ingredients prepared beautifully! a nice little drinks list too, service could not have been better. was a little cramped for my parents but i thought it added to the charisma of this little gem :) a great little place!

i can't believe i have not tried spanish food sooner. ever since trying it a few years ago, i've fallen for the cuisine.anadadoes spanish food more than justice - with their tapas style menu, you are able to try a little bit of everything; especially when you come with a large group of friends. staff were very accommodating and provided superb service. explained the dishes very well, and the dishes i felt, were fairly priced. the restaurant is a little dark so photos aren't the greatest at night, but the restaurant carries a nice, relaxed ambiance. would recommend again and again!

añada, you have taken my taste buds on a roller coaster ride of flavour. going to añada is quite possibly one of the best decisions i’ve made this year. the service was top notch, the ambience is an amazing balance of classy and fun and the food is remarkable. we had the chef’s tasting menu and that was a culinary journey never to be forgotten. every single dish had such a distinct feel & taste and the variations left nothing else to be desired. thank you añada and i will definitely be seeing you añada time. 5.0 stars!

this is my second time atanadaand it was a bit disappointing. as per normal with kids we had to dine really early or really late, and withanadawe chose a late 8:30pm booking. at 7:45pm, they called us to say the previous table was late and they "just came in", could we possibly come at 9? they did that to us last time as well. look i know they r a business and they r trying to make everyone happy but why punish the people that is on time? there is no way that table, arriving at almost 8pm is going to be finished by 9.

this time we had the feed me option, which in hindsight was a lazy mistake. there are probably stuff i won't choose in the feed me menu. the oysters came out extremely smelly, everyone in our table ate it and had to flush it down with a huge swig of sangria. i dropped some oyster juice on my dish and tried to wipe it w my napkin so my plate doesn't smell, which meant unfortunately my napkin smells of stinky oyster the whole time.

other things are too heavily salted, like the potato bravas and the jamon. we didn't get any bread, although they gave us olive oil. that being said the scallops were very very good. we had fish and pork for mains, they were nice, although the pork skin puff was chewy rather than crispy melt in your mouth.

a rather disappointing dinner to be honest.

spanish restaurants are one of my favourite destinations when i head out to eat, as i can always look forward to enjoying the well rounded hearty flavours and great spanish wines. from the large selection of spanish tapas restaurants in melbourne, añada has to be one of my favourites, with a lovely, cosy interior and great staff, añada makes you feel welcome before you even try any of their delectable food offerings.

this was our third visit toanadaand it has great food and exceptional service for such a small venue which obviously operates on tight costs. the wait staff all have thorough knowledge and it is a credit to the management for hiring such experienced people.

what did the word sherry mean to me just over a week ago? sickly. sweet. syrupy. probably not a cool drink. old people like it. old people drink it after dinner. what did the wordanadamean to me just over a week ago? love it. amazing spanish food. evokes memories of spanish holidays gone by. feed me, feed me.
