i took my girlfriend on a date here. we dressed to the 9's. the food was great and theservicewas good. we had a really nice time till the end. we got expensive entrees and got a little wine so the ticket was a little hefty. i still tipped twenty five percent and told the server to keep the change. after the manager came and rudely almost tossed the ticket book back on the table and in a snarky manner said thanks. i understand we were a couple of kids in our early twenties, but we dressed for the occasion, spent a good amount of money, and tipped over 20%. i felt we were treated rudely and unfairly.

i’m out of town from louisiana looking for some not so typical food. beautiful venue, amazing server (shout out to lydia!) i’m a 15 year strongserviceindustry die-hard. 8 years in the foh, now working boh for 7 years now and always looking for food to wow me. for the last two years i have been working as the lead in the kitchen for a farm to table concept that opened in jan 17. this place is a king among restaurants. when the main dining is full it is slightly intimidating and buzzing with liveliness! the food is lavishly combined with precision and leaves the palate completely satisfied. the only thing close to as good as the food is the atmosphere andservicestaff.
i have been successfully wowed, thank you to every single person that makes this place tick on time.

i absolutely love this place! one of the best restaurants in chattanooga. the pork shoulder is spectacular. they do a monthly family style dinner once a month that is a terrific way to try several of their dishes. greatservicein a cool environment, i would definitely recommend you give them a try.

i decided to try this restaurant while in chattanooga after reading all the great reviews. the atmosphere was nice and theservicewas good, but the food was just ok and kind of bland. i was craving pizza, so i went with the mushroom pizza and a caesar salad. i noticed that the menu says all of their pasta is prepared in house daily, so maybe that would have been a better choice.

as most would agree, the space is beautiful, in an old brick building with the kitchen visible from the back dining room. it's a little pretentious but still welcoming. we had a reservation but came early and had appetizers and drinks in the bar area where seating was very sparse. the cocktails and appetizers were delicious- especially the bacon wrapped dates and the honey truffle bruschetta. we were seated promptly at our appointed time. theservicewas prompt and our server was a gem- knowledgeable and pleasant. the flatbread with cheese and truffles was delicious. the entrees were not paradigmatic. gnocchi with chicken sausage was flavorful but the sausage was a tad dry. the pork shoulder was tender but uninspiring. as is the case with most restaurants, coffee was mediocre at best. overall a good experience but somewhat overpriced.

as fine an italian restaurant as i've experienced. my client was duly impressed with my choice. i'll have to admit that a couple of negative reviews by others had me a bit apprehensive until i noticed that the poster's only review was their negative post on alleia.  i've learned that reviewers like this often have an axe to grind. i even discovered one in another city who was recently terminated from the restaurant he slammed. i should not have worried about alleia! i received kudos from my clients for having once again picked a winner! my party of three started with the grilled duck wings which were succulent and "falling off the bone" tender.  the grilled romaine was a unique experience.  i've got to find the recipe' for this. two of us chose the braised  pork "cheeks" which tasted more like filet mignon. our third diner ordered angel hair pasta with gulf shrimp. (lot's of shrimp in this entrée!) she has to take a "to go container" so she could attempt to finish it off later.the wine list and adult beverage selection was exceptional.  service was phenomenal.  i felt that the prices were very reasonable.  i'll patronize this place again on subsequent trips to chattanooga.

disappointing. theservicewas great but the food a major dissapointment especially the pizza. it was served unsliced which they did tell you in advance but it was almost impossible to cut with a knife and pretty tasteless. the other entree's were only so so. the menu is strange and would not be interesting enough for a return visit.

prices were ok and we liked the bar area. the huge table in the middle of the room was 100% full and the restaurant was so loud you could not sit at a table for 4 and have a conversation. somebody needs to do something about the music.

won't go back

bad experience. we went to alleia for the first time last night for our one year wedding anniversary. we showed up on time to our reservation and were promptly seated at a tiny table for two. we waited for about 10 minutes before the server brought us our waters, but other than that ourservicewas ok (not great) with the exception of over hearing our server talk negatively to another table about another near by italian restaurant (tony's). unfortunately, my husband was constantly bumped in the back of his chair and my chair was constantly bumped by the table behind me due to the small space. the food was ok. heads up - the menu online does not reflect the menu in house. we chose to eat here because of the variety of vegetarian options, but when we got there some of them no longer existed. since my husband wanted to try pasta, we payed 16 dollars for a meatless version - a little pricey, but fine. i had a pizza, which was also just ok. either way, our experience was not too great - especially for such an anticipated evening. sadly, i don't think we will ever go back.

excellentserviceand food!. we were looking for a good restaurant for my wife's birthday. we settled on alleia after hearing that it was linked to st. john's and after finding coupons at costco. we were not disappointed.

i must say at the outset that we did not experience any of the poorserviceor attitudes that were listed in some of the other reviews. our servers and hostesses were courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable. arturo, our server, was particularly polite and on-the-ball. he knew all of the details of every dish and took great care of us.

for appetizers, we ordered the bacon-rolled roasted dates with basalmic reduction, the tomato soup, and the mussels. all were to die for but the dates stole the show.

for our main dish, we had the short ribs, the pork shoulder, and pork tenderloin scallopini. these came with various assortments of polenta or potatoes. all were phenomenal but my favorite were the short ribs.

we washed all of this down with a bottle of aglianico from villa mathilde rocco dei leoni. very good.

i highly recommend alleia for anyone looking for a good dinner in chattanooga. we will definitely go back again.

atmosphere. i enjoy the dim, sexy atmosphere the most. the food is "usually" good and theserviceis iffy. however, it is good for a date night if you are not rushed.

amazing!. my boyfriend and i came to chattanooga on a whim, neither of us had been before, so we rely on reviews to suggest great places to eat. the guy where we stayed suggested a place the first night that we didn't care for, so i went online night 2 and found alleia. i had several restaurants in mind, as it seems there are many great ones to choose from in chattanooga, but alleia was exceptional. i've worked in the fine dining restaurant field for years so tend to have higher expectations. from the bartender, jason, to our awesome server, zach, to the delicious cocktails and food, we couldn't have had a better evening here. what a great place (the design and decor was beautiful) with greatserviceand food to back it all up! we will most definitely be back upon future visits to chattanooga!
