consistently one of my favourite places in the city, and always worth the 30min+ wait at dinner time. the beer is the star, with an amazing, rotating selection, and the staff is always very knowledgable if you’d like a suggestion. the food also holds up. smaller menu, but each dish is stellar: cheese platter, mezzo plate, fries, beet salad, veggie burger, stir fry… i have yet to be disappointed. lastly, the atmosphere is fun and lively, and the decor simple, rustic. not aplaceto come for a rowdy night though.

my favouriteplaceto get my craft beer fix. it's also theplacei take anyone who is new to the city when we want to go out for some drinks.

it has a rotating list of local and imported craft beers that caters to all preferences. the menu even shows the hoppiness level of some beer. the food is also really good. it ranges from finger foods, tapas style like mushroom pate and charcuterie boards to burgers and sandwiches. they also have great chicken wings and thin, stringy fries that comes with their homemade ketchup.

it gets pretty busy, some nights the wait for a table is 2 hours. they have 2 levels, the upper has a bunch of long tables, good for bigger groups or used as communal tables. the downstairs is a bit darker and has less tables but is good if you ever want to bring an even larger group. you get more privacy, more space and more room to move around. the set-up downstairs is order at the bar instead of table service. also, closer to the bathroom!

we don't know what thisplaceis interesting so it makes their rating so high. when we arrived, visitors were not too crowded. even the waiters we felt unfriendly welcomed us. but we ordered drinks and they delivered drinks to our liking. we enjoy hang out and chatting here surrounded by their industrial designs

one of the weirdest places i've gone for a drink- but i mean that in the most pleasant way. the building is one of a kind- located in "railtown", it is sandwiched between gastown and chinatown. there is a basement that smells kind of musty but has a cool bar and the upstairs floor is gorgeous in its own kind of way. something i love about thisplaceis the way it sounds when it's full of people, and also watching trains go by right next to the room's windows. the menu used to be small but of very good quality- but recently they've made a seasonal menu that is amazing. everything on it just makes your mouth water. they have stepped it up and their ingredients are just so fresh. they also seem to emphasize buying local and supporting bc grown things so that's really nice. and of course- the beer! a plethora of gluten free options also. thisplaceis a not-so-hidden gem anymore but still worth the wait out the door.

this modern tavern is one of my favourite places for beer in gastown. they offer over 50 on rotating tap. to the point where their paper menus get numbered as they are updated so often. so what better aplaceto kick off our afternoon of drinking?. located on the outskirts of gastown you might miss their cast iron exterior if you didn’t know what to look for. black on black with polished wood tables out on its narrow sidewalk patio. it was left unseated this crisper afternoon.

i’ve only been here once and i had a great time. i’d heard a lot about thisplaceand was really looking forward to finally going as i’d only heard good things. we had to put our names down and it was about a 40 minute wait hey have a huge beer selection which was awesome and really fun to try out new beers. i wouldn’t say it’s the kind ofplacewhere you would go for a rowdy night out as they often had to tell our group to lower our voices, and they don’t allow you to walk around the bar with your beer in hand. i would definitely go there again because the atmosphere was great, maybe with a smaller group so that our noise level meets their standards.

... alibi room is always still packed with people. a super chill environment, with dimly lit lights and communal tables, alibi room is a greatplaceto hang out with friends and have some drinks. they are famous for their beers, but i opted for one of their ciders. we decided to share a few dishes and started with the seared albacore tuna . the tuna was lightly seared on the sides and very fresh. it was topped with a green olive tapenade and a side of greens. the star of the dish was actually the red lentil puree though. i’m not even a fan of lentils, but the way they seasoned the puree was perfect. very flavourful and we cleaned up this dish in no time.

the alibi room located in the “quiet” part of gas town offers a large selection of beer on tap. there is no obvious sign to thisplace, you’d have to look up to see a tiny sign hanging there. otherwise the patio is a give away that this is some sort of restaurant. they use long tables inside the restaurant. a party of two, would be seated at one of their long tables, with a bunch of strangers. it’s a neat idea, if some one ever gathers up the courage they can start a conversation with a stranger. the alibi room selection of beer changes every day, as a craft beer fan, it’s overwhelming to choose which one you want to enjoy. for the indecisive they offer the flight or paddle option or try 2 oz beer if you’re uncertain. on the plus side, if a beer you wanted is completely sold out they always have a back up plan of which beer you’d like to try. food wise, like any pub in downtown vancouver, the selection of food is the same.  as a starter patryk and i had the charcuterie plate. i cannot

located in gastown, this “modern tavern” offers one of the best craft beer and cocktail selections in the city, including organically grown wines. their menu is beyond any “pub fare” i’ve ever experienced. the food is prepared with care and includes free-run meats, and poultry and ocean wise fish. this is a greatplaceto get together with friends for a pint. they have over 50 local craft beers on tap. with so many options, it’s only natural that they offer 6oz tasters for only $3. a pint will only set you back $7 – depending on which beer you order, and they have a few – pilsners, ales, stouts – you name it. their menu is divided into small and share plates, salads, entrees and “samwhiches”. they also have a brunch menu. their portions are very generous. for starters we had the  mezze plate ($13) white bean & green olive dip, housemade rosemary garlic flatbread, goat feta, olives & caponata. the flatbread was so good, i ordered more. i mentioned that the portions are generous – check
