my favourite place to get my craft beer fix. it's also the place i take anyone who is new to the city when we want to go out for some drinks.

it has a rotating list of local and imported craft beers that caters to all preferences. themenueven shows the hoppiness level of some beer. the food is also really good. it ranges from finger foods, tapas style like mushroom pate and charcuterie boards to burgers and sandwiches. they also have great chicken wings and thin, stringy fries that comes with their homemade ketchup.

it gets pretty busy, some nights the wait for a table is 2 hours. they have 2 levels, the upper has a bunch of long tables, good for bigger groups or used as communal tables. the downstairs is a bit darker and has less tables but is good if you ever want to bring an even larger group. you get more privacy, more space and more room to move around. the set-up downstairs is order at the bar instead of table service. also, closer to the bathroom!

one of the weirdest places i've gone for a drink- but i mean that in the most pleasant way. the building is one of a kind- located in "railtown", it is sandwiched between gastown and chinatown. there is a basement that smells kind of musty but has a cool bar and the upstairs floor is gorgeous in its own kind of way. something i love about this place is the way it sounds when it's full of people, and also watching trains go by right next to the room's windows. themenuused to be small but of very good quality- but recently they've made a seasonalmenuthat is amazing. everything on it just makes your mouth water. they have stepped it up and their ingredients are just so fresh. they also seem to emphasize buying local and supporting bc grown things so that's really nice. and of course- the beer! a plethora of gluten free options also. this place is a not-so-hidden gem anymore but still worth the wait out the door.

this is the second time i've gone here. i find its more like a pub versus a restaurant during dinner time. if you're seated downstairs you would basically order your food at the bar, so no server. this is the second time i've gone here, the first time i had their brunch, and second time i tried their appetizers. there wasn't many much on theirmenufor entrées except for burgers for dinner time. today, i had their mushroom walnut pate, which was alright. honestly i had more crostini/crackers left than pate. so make sure you don't spoil yourself with the pate or else you will be left with a bunch of crackers without spread. i feel like this would be a great price to have drinks with friends on a friday night, however i didn't check the prices on the drinks or anything.

okay, so this post is a little dated, but to be honest, i just forgot about it for a little while. but never fear, i remembered it now and here it is! mary from mary in vancity and i were supposed to check out ask for luigi but seeing that we arrived super early and they were already full, we walked down back towards gastown and came across alibi room. self described as a “modern tavern”, they couldn’t be more spot on. definitely a nice, generous sized tavern with tall ceilings and exposed brick and wooden beams that is just so authentically gastown. they offer a formidable beermenubut serve some great wines and cocktails as well. we started off with their mezze plate ($13) which includes white bean and green olive dip, house made rosemary garlic flatbread, goat feta, olives and caponata. loved all flavours and textures on the dish – also a good amount for two people to share. mary ordered a dark and stormy ($8.25). it’s made with house ginger syrup, dark rum, fresh lime and soda. th

located in gastown, this “modern tavern” offers one of the best craft beer and cocktail selections in the city, including organically grown wines. theirmenuis beyond any “pub fare” i’ve ever experienced. the food is prepared with care and includes free-run meats, and poultry and ocean wise fish. this is a great place to get together with friends for a pint. they have over 50 local craft beers on tap. with so many options, it’s only natural that they offer 6oz tasters for only $3. a pint will only set you back $7 – depending on which beer you order, and they have a few – pilsners, ales, stouts – you name it. theirmenuis divided into small and share plates, salads, entrees and “samwhiches”. they also have a brunch menu. their portions are very generous. for starters we had the  mezze plate ($13) white bean & green olive dip, housemade rosemary garlic flatbread, goat feta, olives & caponata. the flatbread was so good, i ordered more. i mentioned that the portions are generous – check

although the beers are the main draw here, the foodmenuis formidable and diverse – featuring everything from smoked sablefish to lamb sirloin to red coconut vegetable curry.

their beermenuis as long as their foodmenu– and it’s all on tap. i had a great burger and we all shared the charcuterie plate as a starter.
