knock my socks off!!. a group of friends and i were out of town from philadelphia and came across alewife, and i'm glad we did. the place alone was fantastic, the style, the feel, it was just really cool. as we ate dinner, we were told that the building use to be a bank, it still has old vault doors and everything. as we ordered food from our very friendly server, who also was very knowledgable about all the different beers (all 140+), we had a sense that we had arrived to some kind of beer meeca. the food is a whole nother story, i had their 10oz smoke burger, that was just one of the best burgers i have ever had. my other friend had their chicken dish, again almost to good to be true, and my other two friends had their skirt steak and black bean burger. we were just blown away from the building, service, and the food that we wound up staying there all night instead of sticking with our plans of going to power plant live that night. i just want to say thank you toalewifeand their staff, they made me look like a hero that day.

on a friday evening for dinner, my friend nicole and i were looking to grab a burger and a beer and just catch up. if you’re looking for a burger in baltimore, many are familiar with abbey burger which is constantly being written up as the best burger in baltimore. and if you want plenty of options, that’s a great spot. but when you’re craving a a great burger, and you don’t feel like building it yourself, alewife is worth a visit. it’s also one of the many spots in baltimore that i have a city dining card for.alewifeafter sitting down and looking over the impressive drink menu, seriously this place is worth a visit for its beer list alone. my friend and i each decided to get the burger. i got it because i know how awesome it is, she probably got it because i hyped it up all day long. the smoke burger is 11oz of beef topped with smoked gouda, gruyere, bacon, caramelized onion, and chipotle aioli on a brioche bun. and if that burger isn’t amazing enough on its own, it comes with a side of duck fat fries. this burger is so juicy and packed with delicious smoky flavors. it’s hands down my favorite burger in baltimore. the smoke burger inside the smoke burger if you’re looking for a notable beer list and a great burger, i’d highly recommend alewife.alewife is located at 21 north eutaw street ,  downtown  baltimore. know of any other places to get great  burgers  or restaurants downtown  that i need to try? let me know in the comments below! for more of my deep thoughts and witticisms, follow me on  twitter . for more great  burgers  nearby, consider

great pre-orioles game eatery. if you are hovering around a 'mature' age and want an excellent meal and avoid the loudness, drunkenness, beer swilling & spilling, skin-show gyrating and twerping of the "strip" across from camden yard then this is the place. burgers (both bean and regular) were outstanding. the smoked tomato soup was savory without that cloying creaminess you get from many tomato soups. best bloody mary i've had in a long time and a terrific selection of draft beer. close to the 24-hour parking garage and an easy walk to camden yard. hope they keep their chef from the pre-father's day saturday....this one has the right touch. love the atmosphere on the first floor and the waiter was a nice fella. yesterday all the tumblers fell into place atalewifeto provide a happy eating experience.

located in the theatre district, alewifeis a gastropub that focuses on highlighting maryland cuisine. and getting to choose from 40 draft and 100 bottled beers isn't such a bad thing, either. you can't get much more maryland than a crab cake (or the blackened snakehead, aka "the frankenfish"), so we decided to stop in and give them a try. read on to find out how they were! crab cakes are available or lunch, dinner, or late night. the lunch/late night menu offers crab cake sandwiches topped with bibb lettuce, tomato, and house tartar sauce on a brioche bun, served with french fries. dinner features a double entree served with buttered corn cream, fried green tomato, and a micro salad with ipa m

thealewifehad a great selection of beer. i tried the full tilt patterson pumpkin, flying dog pearl necklace oyster stout, and flying dog in de wildeman farmhouse ipa. the pumpkin was light in body, super flavorful and spicy. in de wildeman was an ipa with a saison yeast. it was a calmer ipa with less hops.

snowflake in hell. this place is a gem...cheffy delicious menu paired with a great selection of libations, in one of the most screwed up arm pits of harm city. i've got to hand it to these guys,,,,they have thrived because of the theater, but carry things out to a standard that could make them succeed with out any help. this might be the most exciting new restaurant in baltimore...forget chazz, alewifeis creating buzz in the hood, not harbor east.

garbage!. i went thealewifeon a saturday night with 5 friends. 5 of the 6 people ordered burgers - cooked to varying degrees of "doneness." apparently asking "how would you like your burger cooked?" was just a formality because they all came out the same - well done. the 6th person ordered the risotto cakes - they were bland and textureless. no amount of salt could save them. on the upside, the beer selection is stellar. the dogfish head midas touch blew my mind - so did the ridiculous check. do yourself a favor go to ale mary's in fells.
