too expensive for average quality. our usual doner haunt, doner kebab on 4th, was closed on a sunday and we wanted falafel badly so we made the short trip over to al basha for chicken plates and falafels.
the chicken plates were served with generous heaps of pickles, which i definitely appreciate, although a pickled pepper would have been nice. the salad is fresh and crisp and the hummus is very flavorful, not bland. but the chicken was dry, and the falafel despite being freshly made was not crispy or texturally interesting at all. i prefer the falafels over at doner kebab, where the chickpeas are ground much more coarsely so that the end product has a crunchy, tasty outer shell. al basha's falafels were comparatively boring. the chicken and rice were both overcooked leaving the chicken dry and the rice mushy. the plates were expensive for what they offered (10.95 each, plus about 4 dollars for 4 falafels and another 2 dollars for a side of tzatziki) and given the quality of the chicken we were not overly impressed. in this neighborhood, i recommend instead going to doner kebab, whose chickenplatewith falafels is under $10 and whose quality is significantly higher.
