late night eats. al basha is located in kits and they are open until 4 am every night. place is clean and the food is well prepared and seasoned. all the condiments are chopped uniformly and the sauces are tasty. prices are probably about a dollar higher than a typical shawarma joint but based on the late hours, quality and neighborhood it makes sense.

hits the spot after a late night out on the town...

halal has got a market share of one billion people. besides the religious purpose, halal has something that can attract people. their way of treating animals and food brings the taste to another level. al basha   is a very popular restaurant that serves halal food. menu. mixed fruit juice nice. taste a bit like smoothies. al basha’s chicken is freshly cooked when you order. falafel  is very common but at al basha,  all falafel is deep fried in front of you after you order. chicken falafel shawarma wrap mmmm~~everything is fresh and juicy. smells very nice. al basha’s plate chicken rice with hummus and salad. hummus smooth and yummy. they are pretty generous on the portion of chicken. the price is similar to those at food court but the food is much more delicious and fresh.   al basha (604) 568-8841 3143 west broadway vancouver, bc

as usual i avoid the spam like beef and lamb at donair joints, so can only speak of the great chicken plate i had. the late hours are a blessing as well.

i got a chicken shawarma wrap which was not completely bad. but the thing is, i’m an arab and i’ve tried all kinds of shawarma wraps, so this one was definitely not a favorite. it was a good chicken wrap just not a good “shawarma wrap” - if it makes any sense. also the serving was pretty good and the staff were really friendly.

unbelievably slow service. two staff members seemed confused and extremely inefficient. wrap was ok but nothing special. not worth the wait.

al basha is my go to place when i need a good quick bite to eat and provides leftovers. i usually have the al basha plate which comes with salad, humous, pita, rice and chicken. their rice is nicely flavoured and it makes an excellent pairing with the chicken if you add tahini sauce and some hot sauce. in the past i have had the chicken shwarma and that is also good, however the al basha plate gives me leftovers for next day. the people serving are really friendly and they are always people in the restaurant.

i love how this place is opened till 3 am, great place to come for a late night bite. the service was good but the food was pretty standard in my opinion. i have definitely had better plates but i do appreciate al basha's hours (:

i had a small lunch near this place and i was still hungry, so i came here to split a shawarma with a friend. it was so good that i convinced a group of people from my university's club to eat here too

lovely owner, he recognized me and gave me a candy

the wrap tasted really good and the whole experience was wonderful until i got to the bottom of the wrapper. there was an extreme amount of oil that had seeped to the bottom. this isn't a norm for when i get chicken shawarma wraps elsewhere. i would give it a higher rating if only based on taste, but the excess amount of oil in my wrap was a real disappointment. this may have just been a one of wrap, but it's certainly enough to deter me from coming here again.

went during the night and then again during the day 7 hours later. staff was very friendly both times. chicken shwarma and beef donair were both excellent and a good value. everything was clean and the service was quick.

living in kits, there are three options for late night eats when i’m stumbling home from the bar. the closest to me is uncle fatih’s which is open until 3 am on weekends. many a drunken slice of pizza has been eaten here. if i’m really drunk, i’ll sometimes stumble as far as the 24/7 macdonalds (always my number one choice when inebriated). but sometimes if the mood if just right (or if i’ve been drinking next door at elwoods), al basha is my take out joint of choice, since it’s also open until the sweet, sweet hour of 3 am. plus the guys that work there are just so darned friendly!

pit of disease. i've eaten at al basha at several occasions, seemed like a good place to get real food in kits late night. i was turned off by the extremely unpleasant staff but came back for the good food.

during my last visit i was treated to the sight of a rat in the kitchen while they were preparing my meal. sufficient to say, i left immediately and have never since returned. guess there's really something different in their special sauce.
