baba ghanoush. mix platter was a good way to try each meat with baba ghanoush and hummus sauce. we also ordered deep fried falafel, spicy minced meat and chicken breast lemongarlic(house specialty). baba ghanoush was our favourite sauce since this sauce ran out really quickly. the falafels and the spicy minced meat were ok, the chicken breast was good but i could not eat too much. the mix platter was simply our favourite dish.

scene: saturday night 6pm, first week of september
group size: 8 adults + 1 child (3yo)
orders: 5x mixed plate, 1x sausages, 1x chicken skewers, 1x mixed skewers, 2x chips, 5 drinks

time from order to time chips reaching the table: 15 minutes
time from order to time food reaching the table: 65 minutes

as far as reviews go, we had come here for dinner to catch up with friends. the reviews of this place generally have been strong, and even zomato ratings say 4.3, so reasonably high for the number of reviews (220 at the time of writing this), so expectation was quite high.

besides the fact that service was quite slow for the actual food, the other reasons why my score was quite middle of the road 3, was:

- skewers were cooked inconsistently; my lamb was overdone significantly hard, my chicken and kafta was great. all of my wife's skewers were great. one of the others had chicken which was overdone.
- thegarlicdip was extremely sour to me, so it was a bit of a turn off, while the hommus was apparently extremely bland for my wife, however, the babaganoush was very nice indeed.
- a table that was seated after us by about 20 minutes were served their orders significantly faster than us.
- due to them wanting to bring out our food at the same time, it was all cold.

on the positive
- the falafal was excellent, crispy outside, moist inside.
- the drinks they made were also really great too.
- the wait staff were very good in explaining what was in each dish and options we had.
- easy to flag down to get additional drink ordered and bread for the table.

in wrapping up, price wise for all of our orders came to $42/pp (adults only counted), which, i personally felt was a bit on the high side for the volume of what you get ($31/mixed plate pictured).
if they were able to get their service speed faster (it was busy, but you have to expect it for the size of the venue and their reputation), then perhaps it would have been a better experience.

would i go again? maybe to hang with friends, but probably not likely for eating there with family alone.

would i order delivery (which apparently is now an option), maybe if delivery was included (like over a certain order value).

wanting to experience more middle eastern cuisine, my boyfriend and i thought that al aseel would be a good place to start. to our pleasant surprise, we found the restaurant to have a modern and vibrant interior.

between the two of us, we ordered the mixed plate, fattoush salad and a bowl of hot chips, totalling $55. whilst the staff responded to our requests efficiently we felt that they weren’t the friendliest and we found it rather inconvenient when our sides arrived much earlier than our main.

our favourite was the salad as it was well-combined and enhanced by the texture of the fried pita and acidity of the pomegranate molasses. the complimentary bread had a great smoky flavour and was used to mop up the hummus, baba ganoush andgarlicsauce. whilst we found the first two to have distinct flavours, the latter was sour in comparison to its famous counterpart offered at ej. the olives and pickles were also complimentary but we found them to be bitter and unpalatable.

the skewers itself were underwhelming. the lamb and chicken skewers were on the dry side and although the kofta was juicy, the seasoning was rather salty. the hot chips were crunchy as they should be, but at $9 a bowl it was expensive. overall, we enjoyed the experience and would return to try other items such as the chicken lemongarlicwhich was recommended by a neighbouring diner.

like many regular reviewers here, i could not see past the atrocious service here. if you want to experience nonsensical service, please come here.

al aseel is a lebanese restaurant in greenacre which is popular for their selection of dips and grilled meats. the spacious restaurant is minimally decorated with dark wallpaper and furniture. the service crew is all-male.

i asked for table-water which never came but the table next to and in front of me received theirs. the crew was also rude and impatient for shouting at me when i sat on a wrong table. well, you could have bring me to the seat directly.

i ordered four dips and a grilled chicken thigh fillet a few nights ago. first, the pita, which was placed on every table, was fly-friendly and i had to sway them away. the dips (hummus, labne & garlic, baba ghanouj) obviously were not prepared fresh like kepos and the cheese-like baba became soggy and milky. otherwise i liked thegarlicand smoky hummus. for the grilled chicken thigh, the meat weren’t fresh and there was very strong gamey undercurrent despite its marinate.

god i love thegarliclemon chicken, but why oh why must it be so pricey. i only go a couple times a year but theirgarliclemon sauce is amazing. that's the only thing that brings me back. i am disappointed that they don't have specials even to take away. i can't justify going so often for that dish. but it's tasty so i guess it balances out. although the service is terrible

located on waterloo road, this lebanese restaurant was busy with different dining groups of families, friends, and couples. at first glance it doesn't scream out that it is anything too special but once you start eating, you won't be able to stop. the service is pretty good.

we shared a fattoush salad, hommos with mincemeat & chicken lemon garlic. there is complimentary pickled vegetables. the salad has infused flavours from the dressing of pomegranate and lemon that were amazing with the crunchy vegetables and the crispy lebanese bread. absolutely loved the hommos as lots of bread on the table to mop that up with. the mincemeat made it more filling and added a lovely hot element to the dish. the chicken pieces were lovely and the creamy lemongarlicsauce is divine.

if you're in the area, it is worth a visit and there are heaps of sweet and desserts stored in close proximity including ashta laziza. that's definitely worth trying too.

al aseel always provides me with a fine tasting lebanese feast. the ambiance is great, attributed to the modern, middle eastern decor.
the food is what brings me here time and time again. my favourite combinations are the chicken lemongarlicor chicken chilli lemongarlicwith fattoush salad, and you can also incorporate the mixed dips to add to the flavour explosion!
the complimentary baklavas don't hurt one bit either 👌🏼

conflicted on this one. the food was delicious but the service is honestly shocking. they forgot our drink order, were rude when we reminded them, then forgot one of the drinks when the order finally came out. they served us a dish and told us it was our fish but it was actually chicken. half the mains came out and then the other half came out 20 mins later. pretty shocking.

if you can get past that then the food is very good. we got the mixed dips with labne, garlicsauce, hummus and baba ghanosuh which was excellent to dip basically everything in, and there's stacks of leb bread to go with.

we got the haloumi which was delish, and the fatoush salad which my friend basically devoured the whole bowl. we also got these crispy fried chunks of potato that you could dunk in the sauce.

then we had delicious chicken covered in a creamygarlicsauce, and my friend had barramundi but she wasn't a huge fan of the yoghurt sauce it came with.

tasty food but the service would put me off a return visit unfortunately!

the food here came out almost as quickly as the speed at which it was devoured. the al alseel fattoush salad had a great crunch from the fried bread chips in it, the creamy sauce of the lamb dumplings paired well with the flavoured accompanying rice, but the real standout was the skewer plate - where all meats were juicy, flavoursome and tender. although thegarlicsauce was no el jannah's, it was still scooped up quickly with the complimentary lebanese bread. an altogether enjoyable dinner

a group of us dined here on sunday lunch and ordered a banquet menu.
the place was packed but after a little wait we were seated in a big table.
i have to say this has to be the best lebanese food i had in sydney.
fattoush salad was just devine, it was so crunch and tangy. i am a pollo pescitarian so i didn't have meat dishes, but all other friends say it was fantatsic.
my friends who accompained are lebanese and they said food here tastes like eating at lebannon, very authentic.  dips were really great also i am not really a fan of falafel usually but i loved ones i ate at this restaurant they were perfectly crunch outside inside was soft and tasty.  for main i hadgarlicchicken in skewers - oh my, they were just great. soft and perfectly cooked chicken breast pieces with delicousgarlicsauce.  we were all extremely full after the lunch, with plenty of doggy bags for all of us.
service was fast and attentive. i am soooo coming back here again.
