abuelo's mexican restaurant

terrible service.  i never received what i ordered!  i wouldn't recommend thisrestaurantto anyone!  i won't be eating there any more.  therestaurantis located in hurst, texas.

in fact, i'd say the consensus at the rjg household is that abuelo's has moved into the #2 spot behind anamia's for the mexicanrestaurantcrown in ne tarrant. the first thing you notice about abuelo's is how stunning therestaurantlooks - on the inside and out. it's like a mexican vacation resort. generally that's a red flag for

one of our favorites!. we've been going to abuelo's since moving to the dfw area and we've never been disappointed. abuelo's is one of the more progressive mexican foodsrestaurantaround - meaning they don't just serve the traditional mexican foods, they offer a variety of non-traditional choices.

as far as chips and salsa, their chips are thin and crisp. their house salsa is the roasted, smoky variety. i recommend their queso - it is bowl-scraping good! admittedly i am a spice wimp and if you want spicy queso, you will not be happy with this one - it is made with sweet peppers not spicy.

overall, it is a good value for good food. service has never disappointed, in fact on the most recent visit my server championed for me on getting a correction on my meal - nothing major just an oversight that she noticed.
