abuelo's mexican restaurant

great food. if you wantgoodtex-mex then swing by abuelo's in hurst! my family and myself have been coming to this location for over ten years and have enjoyed every get together we have at this particular location. the chips,salsa and guacamole are all made to perfection. import and domestic beers are very tasty and filling.margaritas aregoodtoo! the enchiladas,beef tacos,chicken tacos are all made well. if a small problem with the food arises it is corrected and management then will periodically check on a table to make sure everything runs smoothly from then on out. all of the wait staff i have dealt with have been friendly and very attentive.

chili rellenos are my thing. since that first visit in 2000, i've tried several other dishes but it's always those shredded beef rellenos and that queso dip that keeps me coming back. i don't care for tomoato based sauces so i always ask for the queso instead of ranchero sauce on my shredded beef rellenos. the charo beans are great. those mashed potatos they season with chilis are a really nice treat for someone like me who's never grown to love spanish rice. i don't have an opinion about the hot sauce but the chips are great. i'd also like to ad that if you're in the mood for a beautiful steak and shrimp meal, they do these filet medalions and bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp that are asgoodas any steak house in the metroplex. the patio is delightful on nice days.

one of our favorites!. we've been going to abuelo's since moving to the dfw area and we've never been disappointed. abuelo's is one of the more progressive mexican foods restaurant around - meaning they don't just serve the traditional mexican foods, they offer a variety of non-traditional choices.

as far as chips and salsa, their chips are thin and crisp. their house salsa is the roasted, smoky variety. i recommend their queso - it is bowl-scraping good! admittedly i am a spice wimp and if you want spicy queso, you will not be happy with this one - it is made with sweet peppers not spicy.

overall, it is agoodvalue forgoodfood. service has never disappointed, in fact on the most recent visit my server championed for me on getting a correction on my meal - nothing major just an oversight that she noticed.
