absolute thai probably is one of the best places in chennai which serves thai food. it is in cenotaph road and has a valet parking. therestaurantis in ground floor. that building also has few other restaurants.

been here with family on a weekend for lunch. therestauranthas pretty nice ambience with quirky lighting. it has very comfortable seats. the service is quick and responsive.

food was overall very satisfactory. order - prawn tempura, vegetarian spring roll, chicken satay, chicken dimsum, vegetarian stir fry and garlic fried rice.

prawn melted in the mouth and extremely crispy. dim sums were well prepared, soft and had lot of texture. fried rice with stir vegetables was a very good combination.

absolute thai had been on my wish list for a really long time, finally got the chance to go there! the moment you enter therestaurantthis sense of calmness envelopes you, the music and the aroma of lemongrass come together and create this feeling. 10/10 for ambience! we ordered phad khimao and bai kripao gai kai. the food was great, not spicy at all. the minced meat gravy in the second dish tasted amazing! for desserts we visited cafe de paris, which is located in the same complex, and they serve their dishes in absolute thai!

nice ambience, courteous waiters....

food wise bit on the spicier side, the tom yum soup that i ordered was a bit spicy for my liking....

one thing gotto mention was the mixed veggies stir fry that we ordered, i always assumed that stirfries were smokey and well " stir fried" but it came in a bowl in a peanut gravy.... for crying out loud it was personally recommend by the guy himself.... when asked about it he said that's how it is....so lesson learnt- stick to the menu and don't hesitate to ask questions ( not to mention the dish cost 450 rs. total waste)...loved the fried rice though.....

overall i felt it was only on the okay side...(maybe i expected a bit more from all the zomato rating)

p.s : as soon as we entered therestaurantthe aroma of lemon grass was so soothing and totally loved it, but a complimentary lemongrass tea and lemongrass in every dish we ordered rt from soup to everything we ordered , well let's just say ....huh... hmm ... " overkill" .....

i have had thai food but never in an exclusive thai place. when i entered i was welcomed by an array of fairy lights. therestaurantwas brightly lit. therestaurantwas roomy enough! as we got to the table, they gave us a lemon ginger drink and then a tray with a betel leaf like and a few accompaniments for it such as groundnut, dried coconut, ginger, lemon, red chilly and onions with jaggery sauce. we can customise it as our wish. damn! it was so refreshing. we ordered two starters, both of them were so good. the spring roll was filled with glass noodles and it was amazing. the chicken starter was soft, tender and juicy. we ordered a burnt garlic fried rice - the best fried rice i've ever had. and a gravy noodle which was also good. we had an lemon iced tea to soothe the palate. at the end, the served us a lemongrass tea, which so great and also complimentary. it was a great experience. and i would love to visit again.❤️

thai food is not new to me but let me confess, beyond basics those tongue twister names often make little sense to me. so we just ordered one item from each section, thanks to the fact that we were four of us and everyone of us were game!portions were adequate and the food refreshingly good. what i like about the thai cuisine is that the tartness, pungency, sweetness, the hotness of chillies and the subtle ness of umami come out so well that they don’t overpower each other. i’m no thai/seasian food expert(and a vegetarian on top of that), but i absolutely loved the way absolute thai catered to my taste buds with all those flavours- lemon grass, water chestnut, coconut milk, broccoli, ginger and pandan! since therestaurantalso serves sushi we ordered one of that as well, which was by no means disappointing. oh ya! it’s reasonably priced! and the service is quick, severs prompt.

there is no bar attached and i found the interiors quite boring. choice of music could have been better.

i recently visited thisrestaurantto clinch my thai cuisine cravings. i ordered four dishes pad thai phak, pad thai talay, rad na talay and phad khimao. they started with complimentary refreshment drinks (lemon and ginger) then they gave us beetel leafs with accompaniments like dried carrot, lemon pieces, onion, peanuts, sweet syrup and chilli. towards the end of the main course they gave a luke warm finishing digestive drink.
i’ll just list out few pros and cons.
pros
1. authentic thai cuisine
2. good ambience
3. less crowded

cons
1. slow service

i'm in love with the food here. i have eaten thai cuisine only twice before but thisrestaurantwas truly very very good. must try items are beef satay with peanut sauce, fish cakes, pineapple rice, steamed rice with green curry.
and the desserts were something totally unique. water chestnut and sticky rice with mango are a must try. you just can't stop eating them.
at the end of the meal they serve some nice and soothing lemongrass tea.

authentic thai food at its best
we went there as 3 on a wednesday for casual lunch. therestaurantis located near mount road. the place house 2-3 eateries to choose from. a small entrance leads to the restaurants and valet parking is a must as space is a constraint. therestaurantis simple yet eye catching, we were warmly greeted. since it waid week, there wasn’t much crowd and hence we selected our own table. we were greeted with a welcome drink which was a lemon punch. taste was okay for a freebie. we ordered their recommended hot and spicy veg soup. meanwhile as the soup was being prepared, they have us their free appetiser. it was basically a palak leaf, peanuts, red chilli, dry coconut, ginger, lemon and jaggery sause. just put everything together in the leaf and swallow like a beetle leaf. it was amazing. for the starter, we ordered combo of 4 (2 veg and 2 non veg). the dishes were spring roll, crispy baby corn, leaf rolled grilled chicken and satay prawn. the soup tasted very delicious with one tasting a lot of different flavors. thr statters were also good. only feedback would be thr items could be brought to the table much hotter. the main course we ordered sea food basil fried rice and tofu and basil rice. the flavors were good and no complaints. we were almost full hence skipped the deserts. we were also given a lemon grass hot water which was okay. overall the experience was good and definitely looking forward to go there again. the staff were friendly and recommended the dishes to go for.

went in with 2 of my friends in chennai and just as the name - absolutely loved it!
ambiance and service is top notch and you definitely see the effort with which a stand alonerestauranthas been made.
thy have some delicious thai offerings and we were just in mood for it! started with my all time favourite chicken tom yum soup which was delicious. great flavours and taste.
we decided to go for their raw mango salad and chicken wrapped in pandan leaf for starters which were both delicious. the chicken presentation and smoked flavours were lip smacking.
we decided to do the burnt garlic vegetable rice along with their minced chicken stir fry for mains which i must say were fantastic. they have some nice starters and accompaniments to go with all the dishes. highly satisfied with both their food and service and recommend it for sure! good work guys😀😀

absolute thai is a thai-themedrestaurantlocated in cenotaph road within the same compound wall as cafe de paris and sushi in a box.
came here for a saturday night dinner with family.
what i ordered :
1) tom kha soup (a must try)
2) the absolute thai combo
3) rad na (a must try)
4) thai garlic noodles (a must try)
5) tub tim grob
6) guray tod

for those who enjoy coconut flavour and a little bit of sweetness will surely enjoy the tom kha soup. it was really good and i enjoyed eating it.

the absolute thai combo - it’s a really nice concept where you get to choose 4 starters (veg/non veg) of your choice. what i had - thai fish cakes, prawn satay, chicken spring rolls and pandan wrapped chicken. the combo was really nice but it was served cold which made me a little disappointed.

the main food - thai garlic noodles and radna. radna is a variety gravy noodles. it’s something different indeed. in order to make the meal less messier they gave individual bowls for eating. it had a really nice flavour to it. the thai garlic noodles was really good as well. both noodles do not require a separate sauce/side dish to eat with.

the desserts - the tub tim gorb is water chestnut with coconut milk. it is something i’ve never had before. truly unique but not many may enjoy it. the gurray tod is banana fritters with vanilla ice cream. it was good but again was served cold.

the service and the ambience were really good. the staff were courteous and friendly.

it is an excellent restaurant!!! firstly, to commend therestaurantmanager and his staff they are courteous and help the customers to pick dishes based on the taste and guiding them to appropriately to their elaborate menu. most importantly they help us to customise the food based on the taste buds of the customers.

food is excellent and they serve with great care and detailing to the last.

expect and would like to cherish many more lovable experiences in this restaurant.

my family came upon this place while looking for a pan asian cuisine. thisrestaurantis nestled costly between a cage and a sushi place. a warm and cozy ambience with extremely polite and courteous staff.
one look at the menu and you know you are in thai predominant restaurant.
we were provided welcome drinks if lemon and ginger which served as a good way to get you palate and tummy ready for a delicious meal.
you are also given a platter which is something similar to the indian version of beetle leaf with stuffing of a variety of things. didn't try it but my husband loved the combo of it.
we started off with tom yum chicken soup. it was hot and spice with the aim of lemon grass blended in wonderfully with the chili. a must try for those who like it spicy. this was followed by the platter and choose the prawn tempura (just one word omg!), the fish cakes, chicken satay and fried corn fritters. no complaints on any of the starters as all were good. with 4 pieces of each starter, they was not a crumb left behind.
we decided to go low on the mains as we were already half full by now. we ordered the fresh greens tossed in soy sauce and the regular noon spicy chicken fried rice. it was just perfect.
to reset our palate every now and then, we ordered basil sees red (a strawberry and basil based drink... refreshing though i would have like to see few basil seeds in it), watermelon mojito and liner mint cooler.

overall, i must say that the staff were amazing, the service was clean and quick and the food was delicious. book a table in advance so that you don't have to wait and watch people relishing their food inside.
