one of the best pasta places in sydney. the actual pasta itself is so silky, flavoursome and chewy. the venue is unassuming and homely. staff were italians and had good service. i look forward to going back sometime.

a tavola had really good service, it was a busy friday night and we didn’t have a booking, the boss (i presume) was quick to find us a table. half the menu has italian names and he was more than happy to explain to us what each dish was and went through the daily specials etc. the food was alright, nothing too special and the portion sizes were a bit smaller than expected.

fridays is the only day they are open for lunch, and we are led to a light filled small room down some stairs, while the long marble table is covered with flour, pasta sheets and little hand operated pasta machines. the team is busy, carefully creating their hand made pasta.

a tavola is my favourite italian restaurant in sydney! i live in melbourne and my partner lives in sydney, so i visit sydney quite often. every time i’m in sydney, we always come to a tavola. the pastas are delicious and the cremino al cioccolato is out of this world! a chocolate goodness that makes my tastebuds dance.

attractive environment, decent food. i dropped by recently for dinner and thought it was pretty good. i had to suppress the urge to just go to senate next door when i arrived to eat at a tavola. over the rhine is really improving recently and it's exciting to see the good food coming with the revitalization of the area.
the prevailing feeling for the whole meal was that it was "almost there". the house salad could've used something to cut the strength of the vinaigrette. the wagyu meatball slider would've benefited greatly from a hamburger bun and some more aggressive sauce. they weren't bad, but not really worth $5 each either.
the pizza was kind of disappointing. first off, they really need to specify for each pizza whether it has a sauce and what kind of sauce it is. the sweet pea and bacon pizza would've been a hit with red sauce, but without it it became a bit too greasy and salty. i wanted to establish a frame of reference, so i ordered the artichoke pizza which is pretty similar to my dewey's favorite the green lantern. it had a similar setup and the taste was close, but the ingredients were both smaller and less pronounced than what i'm used to with dewey's. on both pizzas the crust was slightly burnt but still quite good.
for dessert we got orders of salted caramel and dark chocolate gelato. it wasn't bad but they were served in a basic bowl like you would see at a buffet. kind of underwhelming for being $5 at a trendy place.
overall it wasn't bad but i didn't have anything there that would keep me coming back for more. it's a very cool looking place and the concept/feel of it is attractive, but the food is the star of the show for me and it just doesn't measure up to dewey's which is about 5 minutes away from where i live. i'd recommend if you're in the area and looking for pizza, but i wouldn't consider the food to be worth making a special trip for.

lovely. simple, delicious food in a romantic setting. great friendly, helpful service.

slightly disappointed that the "wild mushroom" pasta was actually 90% button mushrooms with a couple of small pieces of pine mushroom thrown in, but delicious anyway - homemade pasta was seriously special.

good fresh pizza. loved the atmosphere here, and the pizza was really good. you could tell all the ingredients and dough were very fresh. beer selection was really good as well. overall a really good place, and liked getting a more authentic italian-style brick oven pizza.

located in the hussle and bussle of victoria road opp another great eatery namely the victoria rooms, this gourmet restaurant serves great food at above average prices. follow the tips from the well trained waiters. i did and was very impressed with their choices. crowd is possibly too well heeled. pretentious professionals preening and pouting across the rather long communal main-feature dining table. still, enjoyed the experience. no rush to return. but if i were shouted a meal there i would jump at the chance.

the best pasta in australia, fullstop. this doesn't need to be a long review,
a tavola serves the absolute best pasta in australia, hands down.
there is nothing negative i can say about the place, the atmosphere, the food, the wine, the coffee....
i relish my visits to sydney simply to visit the place.
a tavola sets the standard for pasta in australia.
eugenio, i urge you to please open a similar place in melbourne.

good food...snotty service. a disappointing memorial day trip to a tavaola in otr. this is not our first time at this location...we have been there several times before and have brought large groups as well. my wife and i are early 40's professionals. neither of us are from cincinnati originally, and have been quite pleased that the cincinnati dining scene has undergone a nice resurgence in recent years, mostly in otr. we tend to sit at the bar and this time was no exception. our bartender this time was a guy named byron. byron should not be in a customer facing role. some people are introverts but can pretend to be extroverts (i am like this), other people are just rude, unfriendly, and have chips on their shoulders (byron). my wife likes to ask for recommendations on drinks. byron wasn't much help here...basically a shoulder shrug which said "don't bother me lady". there was a nice looking salad special (we know this because we saw one prepared for one of the staff). when we asked byron (who never informed us of any specials) if there were other specials, his response was an annoyed "i don't understand your question". at that point i decided that despite the quality food, i wasn't going to spend my money there and paid our bill and left for the taft ale house (incredible service and good food).

a tavola has good food, and we will continue to go to the location in madeira. however, we're done with the otr store unless we see some changes. senate/abigail/belgium/salazar, etc. all have comparable quality and are happy to take our money and do it with a smile and a "thank you".

a lovely italian restaurant walkable from kings cross station. the main dining area is located upstairs if it appears to be a function on the ground floor. the pasta was very good especially the pappardelle with braised beef. of course check the wall for the handwritten menu. my favourite part was the desert though ahahaha. the cremino al cioccolato served in a cappuccino cup is so perfect and wonderful, i think it's worth ordering one entirely for yourself.

pasta was great however wow this place can get really loud and hot. we couldn’t wait to get out of there.

really questioning the covid safe practices they’re implementing (or lack there off) - too crowded and tables squished next to each other.

it used to be our favourite italian restaurant! we used to dined here a lot. tonight as soon as we dined in the pasta we noticed something was terribly wrong. both pasta tasted neither tomatoy nor winery. the seafood pasta had absolutely no seafood taste. and they were very salty!! we were pretty sure they changed the chef. which is later confirmed with the waiter they change the chef last week! very sad this is no longer our fav bistro :(
