we came by on a friday for an early dinner without a booking, and were lucky that they can fit us in. we were seated in the middle of the big communal table as you enter, sharing it with other diners. the atmosphere wasgreatas the place start to fill up, people chattering away, warm lighting & inviting decor. the staff were friendly. we had some oysters to start, natural and with a blood orange granita, both styles were nice and fresh, perfect way to start a meal. for mains i had one of the specials, the baby octopus with casarecce pasta. i've never had casarecce pasta before, which is a long piece of pasta in a twisted s shape. aside from the shape, the pasta itself was a bit dense, together with cime di rapa sauce (which is made from the green veg rapini and has a bitter tone), the dish has a real rustic, earthy, winter feel. it was nice, but for me was just a bit too heavy. my friends had a couple of the other specials, which were both superb, and gave me food envy! the pappardelle with lamb ragu had the silkiest of pappardelle. the squid ink spaghetti had a nice flavour and fresh seafood. the only real disappointment was the complementary bread which was a little bit dried. but really just a very minor chip off agreatmeal.
