hidden gem. have dined here twice now and both fantastic experiences.

the experience feels like you've been invited to a chef's home and they have a table just for you in the corner. the restaurant is nestled in a residential district and the dining areas are nicely separated for a homely feel.

the first time we had the degustation, par for the course for value and quality. returning a second time i enjoyed a lamb neck (succulent) and the partner had the venison (excellent).

friendly service is spot on with timing so looking forward to returning.

at $45 per person, the dessert degustation will take your senses and taste buds for an incredible ride. the presentation of the dishes are artistically breathtaking, not to mention that the flavours were equally interesting (and dare i say innovative).

went to brents tonight and it was fabulous! we had the gourmand menu and everything was delicious! the highlight for me was the mushroom cappuccino while my partner loved the steak and brussels sprout main. the service was excellent and the whole experience is one i will definitely be raving about in the future.

beautiful food with a twist that makes each plate exciting. immaculate presentation. only downside would be patchy service, but no worse than some other very popular and busy venues.

celebrated my husbands birthday dinner for 2 at brent's. the service was outstanding, presentation and flavours of dishes were beautiful. the mushroom cappuccino and deconstructed banoffee pie were the highlights.

very disappointing, the food is over priced and portions are very small. when you stop at mcdonalds after a $250.00 dinner for two you know something is wrong.

a promising start, a disappointing end. we had dinner here on friday night, ordering the romantic package. the amuse bouche & entree were delicious, the mains were nice enough but nothing special...& then, the waiting...a half hour until our plates were cleared...& after another 15 minutes, we chased dessert. over 45 minutes wait between mains & dessert really took the shine off the evening. the dessert was certainly not worth the wait either. it was passable but again, nothing special. we asked for the bill, which was presented & then it was like all the staff had disappeared. we ended up leaving the money & walking out without any acknowledgement. our "brent's dining experience" was certainly a disappointment & we won't be returning. such a shame!

presentation maestro. the bf took me there as a surprise for our 10 months anniversary in sept 2012. at first i was feeling a little lethargic as i had work that day but as soon as i tasted the mushroom cappucino, my mind felt awakened. it's as if the aromatic soup really did contain caffeine. our other salad entree was simply gorgeous (forgot the name, please refer to photos) as it was presented with edible flowers.

we also had the sorbet palate cleansers to prepare us for the mains. the waitress had a strong accent so i couldn't make out what she was saying but i believe it was 'lemon' flavoured? regadless, the mains were exquisite. the bf ordered the steak with duck fat potatoes whilst i chose the more creative duck dish served with sorbet and licorice wafer. both meat dishes were great. only flaw was that the licorice was a little hard to chew, and felt like eating sticky toffee. for dessert we chose a beautifully presented chocolate platter which was packed with surprises (see photo). my favourite was the mousse served in a cone shaped glass, and i dound the others a little too sweet. overall i give brent's 9/10, thank you for a wonderful night.

a few weeks ago, i decided to try out the degustation menu at brent's with a friend of mine. brent's is a restaurant located at the bottom of a very steep road in one of brisbane's inner city suburbs. it offers an a la carte menu, but is largely known for the different degustation menus that it offers. not long ago, for the centenary of the sinking of the titanic, the restaurant created a special edwardian 10-course degustation menu based on the dishes served in the first class dining saloon on april 14, 1912 - the last meal of the first class passengers. it's an interesting

another birthday there. we come back to the brents every so often but our last time being yesterday 12-12-12 was a bit dissapointment. the place look terrible bare, no decoration, no color, no christmas atmosphere. i think previous years , maybe under other management, it was more cheerful. the portions as another writer says: way too small. you pay over 30 dollars for lucky if 100 grams of meat. the one thing it really disturbed was that the waiter (surely under instructions) comes with each meal and lectures you about what it is ,mentioning the lenght of ingredients. this is the first and only place where the waiter/cook takes priority and center stage of the 'romantic; meal. my husband and i were interrupted from our conversation time and time again to hear the ingredients of the coming course. i believe a good waiter is one whose presence is not felt and is there when needed. my experience yesterday was that i was not celebrating my birthday and a very special date, but one where we paid to be 'educated?' on ingredients. iam a good cook myself and needed no help to know what i was eating. perhaps the cook should wait to hear compliments and no impose himself.

the meals are way too small for the price. we all left still hungry.
