i had the most beautiful prawns for lunch in early december. the restaurant was packed to capacity and the experience was fantastic. we came back for dinner a few days later to a much slower service. we ordered from the deli. the deli dishes were nice but salty (as they should be) once paired with the speciality olive bread covered in rock salt it all became far too salty. we ordered italian gelato off the menu and were presented with cheap plastic ice cream made with vegetable fat. i don't like being deceived. 😡
some excellent, some not so good.

looking for some seriously good seafood? then look no further.

the food at this place is fantastic. proper and fresh seafood that is prepared well too. we decided to grab a warm and cold dish for a quick lunch. so our go-to dishes were some kind of sushi and creamy garlic mussels, because if either of those are not good then this place would be no good, but luckily those dishes were absolutely amazing. just loved it.

the atmosphere is so inviting. restaurant, bar, deli, coffee shop, 34 south has it all in one with a friendly set of staff. right outside is the marina where you can see some boats coming and going which is just pure relaxation.

unfortunately, we felt like the service was completely lacking. it was a tad busy but that is no reason to not attend to us. they were so slow and it took ages for them to come to us for anything. we decided to get up and pay at the entrance too because our waiter was nowhere to be found.

i was very suprised by the stunning service we received, especially on a very busy december day. oysters was delicious. the sushi had huge pieces of salmon. we did not wait at all, considering how we wait at many places this time of the year in knysna. i will recommend the seafood pasta. it was amazing.

we decided to try this place out for an early dinner. we got there and upon walking in it smelled really unpleasant. we sat outside and ordered a cocktail and water. the pina colada was very nice i must say. i haven't had oysters in years so i decided to give the oysters a try. i also quite enjoyed that. as we started paging through the massive menu, we just couldn't find anything that seems nice. the menu is way too big, and even has mexican dishes etc, which i personally think doesn't fit in. apart from that, the menu was sticky and dirty, and gave off a foul smell as well. everything just felt dirty and we decided to rather ask for the bill and went else where. they obviously make money because of all the tourists at the waterfront, and don't bother to try and impress. not my idea of a good restaurant.

we came to knysna expecting good seafood, and that's what we got at 34 south. we ordered the seafood platter, containing king prawns, queen prawns, muscles, squid, yellow tail and more... it was all amazing, particularly when smothered in the garlic butter!

the service and venue is 'no thrills' which suited us, staff were friendly and the environment was quite relaxed.

this place provides great seafood at a reasonable price.

this place is ideally situated on the waterfront in knysna. its menu and wine list is so wide that it gets confusing to select. the deco is as cluttered as the menu however given that it's a huge restaurant its somehow works.

we chose the queen prawns and calamari combo which were both delicious. i suspect that their specialty is seafood as we also ordered an enchilada which was tough, chewy and really unpalatable.

it took them over 30 minutes to send the replacement margarita pizza for my 8 year and she was famished by then. service was good initially but as they got busier despite the number of waiters the service was compromised.

would recommend and visit again....just for the seafood though....

came here for dinner last week with my family and the food was amazing.. upon walking into the restaurant i would have never expected the food to be as good as it was as the decor and vibe is very chilled..

i had sushi for starters which was super fresh and then for mains i had the linefish of the day and that was seasoned to perfection.. i also tried some of my other's family members mains and this included chicken and prawns, all were just as great!

this resturant is extremely popular and they don't take bookings which is quite tricky. we ended up waiting in line for about 30/40 minutes.. i would have scored the restaurant 5/5 if it weren't for my chips (didn't enjoy them) and the super long wait.

definitely going back next time i'm in knysna !

peak season in december, the month that keeps you in business, and your kitchen closes at 8.30pm? your staff are over worked and were quite vocal about the insanely long shifts and lack of lunch breaks. guys. make a plan. you have a year to plan for this season. get casuals. from neighboring towns if you need to. stay open longer. make more people happy and make more money!

nice place , great food really enjoyed my starter and cocktails are best. our waitress seemed to be serving all tables outside so she was very busy but did her best to now and again attend to us and she was friendly. ..so nice place , good food and great company i'd definitely do it again

i remember having the queenside prawns at my matric weekend at 34 south which was 15 years ago. i couldn't wait to have it again this holiday and wasn't disappointed. we had the variety of oysters and really enjoyed it! service was great and location on the waterfront which was bustling with tourists, but great for people watching. they don't take bookings, only walk ins.

was really excited for the oyster experience!! and i would definitely go back for more oysters. the sushi was amazing. the pizza was a bit average, maybe we should have known better than to order a pizza there...

overall no complaints

i highly recommend this restaurant. it's a great place for international tourists and others from sa. lovely staff. great service.

we had a great dinner at 34 south, perfect setting with a great vibe. as starter we ordered a mezze with olives, fried eggplant and snoek. for main course we had the crab with shrimps, line fish and basmati rice. very tasty, though the crab was difficult to eat😉. monique, our server, did a great job👍.

amazing friendly warm service, all the staff are smiley and lovely :)
the menu is amazing, and the food is even better. i'm on an extremely selectively eating plan, no gluten, meat, sugar, grains, and their menu was bursting with options.
banters will love, gluten free people will love, healthy people who need a break from salads will love and fussy eaters too. now they just need to open one in jhb.

the restaurant offers a versatile menue. we had the fish plate (+carrot cake) and it was really delicious! besides our waitress and the whole service were excellent.
