3 olives

great restaurant!. i am not one to write reviews but i don't remember the last time i have been so happy with customer service in a restaurant. i was surprised to turn up and be greeted with lively smiles (and not be told off for being late on my reservation), my little boy was given slinkees to play with (even given a cushion as the high chair was a bit big for him) and the people there were all just lovely. we asked if they had some fruit that we could give to my little boy and they came back with strawberries all chopped up in a serving platter. it was a great dining experience (great food, big servings and happy vibe) and would definitely love to go back.

delicious and delightful. this is the second time i've been to 3 olives in a month, yes - there is many many fantastic choices to choose from in the newtown area, but every since the first visit i've been dreaming of their eggplant moussaka!! i had to go back and enjoy it all over again. for starter we had the pita and 3 dips, waiter gave us a lovely in depth overview as to what was in each (we kinda knew but it was nice to be romanced by it all) this starter is perfect size cos the main menu portion sizes are european (generous and unforgiving on your waistline) we finished we the greek kafe - also fantastic, medium sweet was just right for me.

until the next time, i'll be dreaming of the moussaka once more !

tonight we are eating at a greek restaurant called 3 olives, we’re being joined by matt and jim, who last appeared in these pixels back at the animal which, strangely, is also a greekish joint. matt and i are first to arrive at the rapidly filling restaurant. after a quick discussion about increased hangover propensity with age (there’s definitely a thesis in that) we get things under way with a bottle of wine and some dips. matt is momentarily confused about whether the three dips are free dips, but luckily the waiter and i are clear about what is going on. we are soon joined by strop and jim, who help us finish the first bottle and the

terrific in every way. so many delicious foods, great ambience and the host/owner, olga, puts hospitality back where it is often missing: hospitality industry!

brilliant food and lovely atmosphere. olives is one of my absolute favourite places to eat in sydney.

if you want a booking at short notice without making a reservation, then come close to opening time around 6pm. if you prefer to eat later, you may need to phone ahead to reserve yourself a spot. it's worth it.

the menu has a good variety of salads and starters; very well suited to vegetarians. the main menu is strong meat and seafood (lamb, beef prawns). the owner and staff are really friendly and accommodating; so if you prefer to make your excellent haloumi, garlic pita and bruschetta selection your main meal alongside your friend tucking into meatballs - just let the waiter know.

the service is prompt yet the atmosphere is relaxed. despite the popularity of the place, there is ample room to spread out and relax. you can come here for an evening out.

another thing i love about olives is that you can talk without having to compete with piped music. this is very much a family restaurant where good food and wine sit alongside great company and flowing conversation.

if you want an intimate evening with a loved one; or a great meal to share with select friends; olives will impress.

i have been to this restaurant many times and just love it. it is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in sydney (if not my favourite). they have the best moussaka that i have tasted- even better than those i have had in greece.

the banquet option is a great idea if you have a group of people. it's great value for money and you always leave full and satisfied.

the service is just fabulous. no matter how busy they are they always make time to explain the menu and make you feel like you are the only customer in the room. it has a great family feel to it.

no no no . banquet dips tiny... and a beet root salad out of a tin and charge 16 bux? never again .

happy staff- great food- excellent value. the banquet @ $32 is excellent value, its byo and the staff all look like theyre genuinely happy to be there.

great food, friendly service. after reading all the great reviews, i decided to book my birthday dinner for me and 23 friends. knowing that the place was pretty popular i booked 2 weeks ahead (just incase as it only fits 50 people. i was prepared to visit 3 olives knowing that the place was small and the decor would be simple. the service was outstanding, the waitress and owner were so lovely. the food was really great... the lamb was so tender!!! the byo is such a great idea to save money. everyone walked away happily full for $35 each. no hesitation recommending 3 olives, its location is so convenient so close to local bars and the station its a winner all around.

3 olives is amazing, it still tops every place on king st so far. great survive great food and all round good vibe, highly recommend it...

overall, we had a wonderful time at 3 olives and was rolling out the door after paying a very reasonable bill. the service was very attentive and because we ended up singing happy birthday at the top of lungs, the birthday girl, m, was given free ouzo!

i choose the chicken souvlaki - replacing the chips with rice - and god my meal is delicious. the seasoning explodes in my mouth with every bite - the oregano and olive oil combo is perfect.
