authentic i guess. since half the patrons were indian, i have to assume this is pretty authentic. it was lunch buffet, so i can't say much about the menu (i've heard good things about the khadai gingerchickenand the kashmiri naan, but i didn't get to enjoy them).
moderate amount of options on the line, but i would have liked to have seen another meat option besides chicken. the flavors were mostly excellent, but i've had better tiki masala. despite brisk business, thechickenin all three sauces was slightly overcooked, like it had been sitting in a warmer a while. i very much enjoyed the corianderchickenand the other non-tandoor one (can't remember the name, but i had 3 helpings). the other mushroom dishes were also fine, and i liked the little potato dumpling thing. the plain naan was good but not great, although the mint puree on it was delicious.
unfortunately, a little flaw in the execution, as i found 2 different very hard pieces of some sort of vegetable which was uncooked, one of which tore up my throat when i accidentally swallowed it. now, my stomach is disliking that and the rich spicy food, but i think it was worth it.
overall, a fine meal and one i plan to go back to try again at night despite the flaws.

ended up at 2 gingers on a monday evening to satisfy the indian taste buds. the staff was extremely friendly and kind.
to begin with, had mango lassi which was somewhat a mango smoothie with added sugar.
they served complementary papad with mint chutney, tamarind chutney and circa pyaz.
next we ordered bhel puri (spice level 3/6). it was somewhat sweeter than it should have been but lemon to the rescue!
for the main course we had shrimp biryani (spice level 2/6) which was nice. the raita served alongwith was really well done.
chana masala (spice 3/6) was sweet and disappointing.
lamb boti masala (spice 4/6), sweet again but ok.
chettinadchicken(spice 4/6) nice, in fact nicest of all. ordered the 2 ginger special naan (minus the cheese).

can definitely visit again but wouldn't be my first choice though.

i've never written a review on zomato before, but when i saw the negative review below, i had to defend my favorite indian food in columbia!  we ate there tonight (10/15/15) for the fifth time since we moved here from atlanta in june.
the food is phenomenal and the portions are generous.  the 2 gingers special kofta is incredibly delicious - we've had it four out of five times.  i've also tried several of their appetizers and meat dishes - each was delicious.  i could eat thechickenmahkani (aka butter chicken) like a stew.  my father-in-law also spoke highly of the lunch buffet.
service was a bit dicey on our first visit, but the restaurant was packed and i understand that there was a special coupon expiring soon. since then, our service has been impeccable.  we plan to return on a thursday soon for dosa night!

my lunch was fantastic. like so many ethnic restaurants anymore, they serve a lunch buffet. which is fine with me actually because it allows you to try things you haven't had and get adventurous. today i chose lentils andchickentikka masala which i put over basmati rice. i had one vegetable pakora and something i've never seen before...it was a vegetable pan

you can always order off the menu so don't let the lunchtime buffet scare you off. thechickenmasala over rice was great. also, try some fresh garlic naan!

the bombay grill is another great columbia spot for indian food. it may still look like a chinese restaurant on the outside, but inside the pagoda-style building located on the edge of the boozer shopping center that used to house the peking palace is some of the best creations from the sub-continent you will find in columbia.

rabbit and i cannot disagree more about indian food. he hates it, and i love it. he thinks it all tastes and smells like curry. i think that no cuisine in the world uses more variety and spice to ignite a full-blown party in your mouth. so, since rabbit was out of the office on thursday, we took two carloads of workers over to the bombay grill to face their fare for the first time. most of us are experienced indian eaters; captain understatement and i used to put it down weekly in five points, and tex took a long vacation to india about a year ago and explored its culinary goodness. however, kudos to frodo, who was so bold as to trust this motley crew with his first indian food experience; boy, was he rewarded for his faith.

bombay grill offers up a wide variety of vegetarian options, as well as a fewchickendishes on its appetizing and well-kept buffet. the chutney selection was great; the mint chutney saved my mouth when i enthusiastically ate a whole pepper that was a part of the smorgasbord of pakoras. the publican tried to act like those peppers weren't hot. he is a liar who cannot be trusted (unless he posting on this blog, of course - we edit him).

the star dish this day was thechickentikka masala. this curry dish contained the perfect mixture of tomato sauce and cream, producing that rich, orange color that would make even rabbit's mouth water. although i would have enjoyed a more intense "heat," the level was just right for an indian buffet meant to please all comers. thechickenwas cut generously and remained succulent, never succumbing to the continued heat that a buffet necessarily applies. served atop an airy basmati rice, thechickentikka masala is reason alone for me to make another trip out to the bombay grill soon.

however, i believe that the true test of success was how frodo, our indian-first-timer, enjoyed his introduction the spicy, savory delights of india. the little guy seemed genuinely impressed by the range of options and flavors that the dishes offered. he was enamored by the fried goodness of the pakora-style peppers, and he claimed that every thing he ate was tasty. he enjoyed the meal so much that, at one point, he leaped onto his chair and began singing its praises in an elvish tongue while rubbing his belly - it was an embarrassing moment for us and served as a reminder why he doesn't get invited to lunch very often.

frodo claims that the bombay grill has made him a believer in indian food. i would call that the definition of a successful lunch.
